View Full Version : Why are Winning gloves so expensive?
Animal Squabbs 11-12-2006, 04:59 AM This is ridiculous, I finally found a website where they sell them and they are hella expensive.
http://www.winning-usa.com/products.html
I dont think they can be so much better than Reyes and Grant that they are almost double their price
PunchDrunk 11-12-2006, 07:19 AM They don't even look that good.
boxingcp 11-12-2006, 07:30 AM I bought them and sent them back...14 0z lace up. The leather was cheap and although the fit was good and the padding tight...Ringside International gloves are basically the same. They are very expensive because of the conversion of currency from Japan to the USA. The prices are ridiculous and the headgears aren't even real leather!! I did buy the FG5000 headgear with the bar for $320.00 (OBSURD PRICE FOR FAKE LEATHER) but the fit and protection during heavy sparring is the best!
Animal Squabbs 11-12-2006, 05:34 PM $320 for a headgear?????
SryNoAutographs 11-12-2006, 05:52 PM They're ugly IMO.

I have a pair that a Danish pro I know used for a European title fight. They're ****ing BRUTAL. The padding is all but non existant. Crazy.

The Reyes line is a punchers friend I guess. They hit hard And cut I don't use mine anymore I cut the shit out of some training partners.
I like the grants also a mexican brand but much more protective and better fitting. I whink these Winning Gloves are garbage. Nothing special about them. and too pricy

Why didnt' Tyson ever wear Reyes gloves? I don't think i've ever seen him wearing a pair of Reyes gloves.

oshea1690 11-15-2006, 05:05 PM Anybody know where you can get a pair of reyes sparring gloves for cheap. Looking to pay under 100.

IMO Reyes are worthless for sparring. You'll hurt your hands and your opponents body.
oshea1690 11-15-2006, 05:49 PM i was also looking at rival sparring gloves, are they good. I cant seem to find a good pair of sparring gloves.
deh707 11-15-2006, 06:17 PM i just ordered a pair of title platinum training gloves in 16 oz.
http://store.titleboxing.com/platinum-hook-and-loop-training-gloves.html
i heard they're really safe and soft, and isn't hard to put on when compared to imf tech ringside training gloves.
BmoreBrawler 11-15-2006, 09:45 PM I guess the best happy medium for sparring gloves is IMF tech. They protect your hands extremely well, while also damaging your opponent. In a perfect world people would use safe gloves like the title plats, but with all the retard "punchers" with their Cleto Reyes you better be ready to protect yourself.
Kid Achilles 11-15-2006, 11:12 PM WTF would anyone want Reyes for sparring gloves? You'd have to be an asshole to want to increase your chances of cutting/hurting your sparring partners.

Go with the Everlast Pro Trainers. A desent glove I have a pair of 16oz I use every now and then.
Animal Squabbs 11-16-2006, 05:11 AM I might eventually get RIngside's International Gloves (the blue ones) or Titles new gel ones for sparring.
actually Ringside is having a christmas sell where you can get an IMF tech and International pair for only $99
esponda 11-19-2006, 02:22 AM cleto reyes' gloves are the best...

are you kidding me, NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE that shit, there is like 5 different pairs of shoes and 2 different pairs of gloves that I missed out on, this cant be happening again. ****
I wanted those damn black lowcut Reyes leather shoes SSOOOOO bad, and they are gone forever.
boxingcp 11-19-2006, 12:41 PM I don't get it with Ringside. I have seen them do this to so many good products that are bought over and over. I have been buying those gloves for 10 years... John Brown needs to stop making all this funky hightech, IMF and gel crap and stick to real, pure looking boxing equipment. All this equipment with large logos and block letters, cartoon charactors (Grant) has really gone to far. I miss real classic looking boxing equipment and it's getting harder to find.
boxingcp 11-19-2006, 12:58 PM A letter to Ringside....."With the now discontinue of the International training gloves and the past low top (and awesome fitting) black trainer boxing shoes, will Ringside continue to make the all new gel, IMF Tech, fancy logo and large words on gloves equipment?? Classic boxing equipment is dying out, and we continue to see companies such as Grant, etc. using large unbearable logos on gloves... it is truly the bastardization of boxing. It was heartbreaking enough when Ringside changed the Int. Glove with big logos and others too. I have been wearing Int. Gloves for over 10 years.. it's just sad. Bring back some classic, old school equipment and make boxing look real again. (I understand it's all advertising, but there is nothing wrong with a simple wrist label and great customer support.) If I could send you a list of Ringside buyers from my gym over the past 10 years, it would be proof enough. Let alone my buying history which speaks for itself. Thanks for hearing me."

yes, please post their response, thanks.
speaking of classic boxing gloves, i wish the major boxing equipment companies would redesign their stuff to "look" like the gloves of the 1960's, etc, but still have the same amount of protection as today's gloves. that would be cool.
