sghetti 11-11-2006, 01:21 AM Last week I posted this video. It sucked, I asked some questions and got some feedback.

I tried rushing him the last 4 seconds. The video on youtube is just out of sync.

Same thing, better quality.
(I'm the guy with the blue shorts)

This week, we did it again. I didn't bounce like a maniac this time. I didn't get as tired (short match, I know.) I leaned forward and felt like I was punching a lot harder. And I fought guys that were my own weight.
I'm the guy with the checkered shorts, starting on the right side both times.

I know it's not that clear on youtube, but I got a total of 6 or 7 punches on him. He got 3 or 4. It's hard to tell but that last left hook was one of the hardest hits on him.
So what can I improve?
Animal Squabbs 11-11-2006, 05:45 AM alot
first of all, step up the competiton man. That other guy looked like a girl.
second, you didnt really land anything man.
I assume you havent had any training so I aint gonna be to hard on you.
Keep your hands up, you almost never kept them up and you drooped them everytime you threw a punch
Bring them back up after you throw a punch, you brought everypunch back low.
Chin down, you kept rushing into the exchanges chin up in the air leaning back. Tuck your chin to your chest and lean slightly forward. If you lean back and he rushes you you arent going to me on balance to move sideways.
Keep your right hand up when you jab. Watch the tape, what would happen if that dude slipped your jab and came back with a left hook. KO
Stup being nervous, be calm and think. You were bouncing around and twitching and what did that do for you, nothing but eat up gass. Be smooth calm, set things up.
the sad thing is though man, when all of that was said and done the other guy landed more than you did.
sghetti 11-11-2006, 05:06 PM So lean forward and keep my chin down.
In a fight like that I'm guessing I would have had to back him up near a wall or something so he'd stop backing away. He had his gloves up so he would just slap my jab away, and when I tried to punch his body I almost hit his balls. What are some ways I can learn to set things up?
hotbox2316 11-11-2006, 05:35 PM looks like a couple retards trying to **** a door knob out there......

I see that you are from Reno, do you know of a guy named Richard Montoya?
hotbox2316 11-11-2006, 05:40 PM mma fighter?
dempseyfan 11-11-2006, 05:43 PM mma fighter? Yeah, I used to work with a guy from Reno and he would always talk about his buddy back home that was a tough guy and was going to be an upcoming season of Ultimate Fighter, he said his name was Richard Montoya.
hotbox2316 11-11-2006, 05:45 PM ya i seen him fight at one of the local king of the cages i belive he is a belt holder of some sort now,and i do belive he lives in reno but i dont think hes been here for that long...

Well thats pretty cool I guess, I always thought homeboy was lying to me.
KingDosia 11-12-2006, 03:34 AM What are your doing wrong?
You are putting on gloves and fighting while calling yourself boxing.
Everything about what I saw is wrong. You ae weak afraid of being hit not knowledgeable as far as the fight game goes and as green as cabage can get.
yrrej 11-12-2006, 02:39 PM Which guy are you? One guy does everything wrong. Personally, I don't think it is good idea to box on concrete without headgear (or mouthpieces, for that matter), in case somebody gets knocked down and killed when they hit the ground (or bites off their tongue or something).
Bucktown Beast 11-12-2006, 02:45 PM First I would tell your opponent that his jeans are way too tight to engage in any kind of athletic activity.
Asian Sensation 11-12-2006, 03:18 PM Leaning your head back and reaching with your shots instead of stepping in with your shots. And talking like girls.
PunchDrunk 11-12-2006, 05:22 PM Here's the single, most important thing you're doing wrong: You're fighting in a back yard instead of going to a boxing gym.
The second most important thing you're doing, is expecting to correct all the little mistakes you're doing, by asking online. If you go to a gym, those mistakes can be corrected. Go to a gym. :)
SryNoAutographs 11-12-2006, 05:42 PM Box someone besides a walking heavybag.
oshea1690 11-12-2006, 06:45 PM well dont lean to forward or ull put yourself in the way of a nice uppercut.
sghetti 11-19-2006, 01:47 AM I updated the thread
yrrej 11-19-2006, 03:12 AM Somebody's going to get killed when they fall over that crap in the back yard or through a window or something or bang their head on the cement. You need some footwork, side to side.....
Animal Squabbs 11-19-2006, 04:14 AM come on man, you did the exact same stuff. All you guys did was just flail at eachother. I didnt see you do one thing I advised.
oshea1690 11-19-2006, 09:45 AM If you were ever put in the ring with me i would slip one punch and just rock with you with a hook. Thats all some1 would have to do with a wannabe brawler like yourself. Stop wasting our time and asking us our opinion of your pithetic backyard sock-em bop-em fights. If you really want to be anything like a boxer, go to a local gym and take boxing seriously. By showing us these videos all you do is insult us and the sport.
First of all; go to a gym. Secondly, whoever told you to lean forward is a ****ing idiot. Don't listen to most of these douchebags on the boards because most of them have never been to a gym and believe they know how to box because they can throw on some gloves and slap eachother until one bitch gives up. They don't fully understand that the "advice" they give to people could potentially harm them. DON'T learn forward when you punch, then you ****ing throw your bodyweight off balance and you're in a perfect position to have your jaw twisted off your body. God I hate ****ing kids who think they know what there doing. If you need any help, make sure you take advice from people who have credible histories; not "I watch boxing everyday and beat up my little brother with some gloves on."
Thanks - and **** you ***gots who don't know shit!
oshea1690 11-20-2006, 07:54 AM Nobody on these boards told this kid to lean forward. And why would you come on to tihs board with 5 posts and try to insult people who are only here to become better at boxing- excluding the people that dont take it seriously. The only person i think is a dumbass is you for saying that shit without even thinking. Yes, it is bad to lean forward because you will be off balance and in line for a bad shot, thats all you had to say, or tell him to go to a new gym like everyone else. Nobody here stays home and just watches videos and tries to get better, from the people iv seen post im pretty sure a lot of people here are more credible and have more knowledge on the sport than you do.
Look at post #2 and then his response to that.. and you're telling me he didn't get, "lean forward" out of that? You're stupid. And who cares if I have 5 posts? Last time I checked the amount of posts and your ability to box don't coincide.. now do they? Most of the people on boxing forums don't know what there talking about and yes, I have been on two so far.. both turned shit when idiots came on telling kids to do technically dangerous things. Thanks for exactly proving my point, oshea1690.
