If the guy can throw a good 1-2 and knows what he is doing you might not be able to get passed it.

Always mix it up though, the important thing is that you have to punch while he is walking in. Lots of jabs. I assume if he is walking you down that means he has a shorter reach, so fully extended snappy jabs should get to him. Even if he succeeds at getting in on you eventually, at least make sure he eats some leather on his way in. If he is moving his head a lot, a straight right to the body is also a good one to throw.

A Walk in attack if done right can be very intimidating. We call it the Roman Soldier. You need excellent cover to be able to pull this off.

I think there is some confusion he's talking about a walk in attack I've seen you fight you don't "walk in" Infact you seem to use the same method I do, try to use the on two against them with some weaving and explosive counters. Not walking in by anymeans

My advice is

Use your jab, circle around him with a bounce on your toes. Avoid the ropes as much as possible. Jab the body, keep jabbing to the body and hit him with some hooks to the body. This will weaken him so in the later rounds if your legs start to lose bounce he is not comeing in with much power. Fighters who try to walk in are most of the time good inside fighters so if he manages to corner you clinch and turn him. Also I would tell you to circle to his left and hit with a streight right. (I would love so critisism on my plan if you guys can)

Im talking about if they walk into you and through you, punching at the same time

Do plenty of roadwork. Stick and move with occasional hard punches for respect purposes. Unless he can't hit....then fight him at close quarters.

what is a walk-in attack? Is is just guns a-blazing Hagler-Hearns style?

some people ive sparred against come straight in head down with hands surroundin their head, so what i do is an uppercut to the body or a left then right hook to the body. if they just come in all out then as most of the other lads have suggested throw a 1,2 or even paw him off with the left

Best thing I've seen done against the cover-and-walk was brutally simple, but really devious. Your typical walk-in looks like Roy Jones' gloves-up elbows-down defense, but moving forward. I saw a guy prevent it every time by jabbing high on the top of his opponents' gloves/head, and when his chin came up, right uppercut under the elbows. It was monstrous.

i sometimes like to take a step back, as hes moving into the space i created i move forward and hit him with a straight right, him walking in and u throwing at the same time hurts more hehe

I just keep on swinging leather, everytime I try and think "I am going to do this and that", it never works.

Realistically, you have to hit hard enough to earn his respect so he won't walk in quite so quick. Lean in with a head butt, and lift up under his chin. Grab and tackle him. Anything to discourage him. What can they do? Give you a warning or take a point? If you don't get him off, you will be steamrolled anyway.....
