I've been thinking about getting into boxing. I'm actually going to be wrestling for my high school, so I'll be really busy with that. If I'm still wanting to box after wrestling season, I'll take the next step(joining a gym, I guess...not really sure)

It will work out good because I'll be in great shape from wrestling and I'll have at least some idea of what kind of commitment this is going to be.

I don't know, I guess I'm just looking for advice, maybe some kind of idea as to what I'm getting myself into, etc. Like I said, it'll probably be almost 5 months before I start boxing, but if there's any stuff I can start doing now, I will.

I'm 17, about 5'11", and around 195 LBs(although I'll probably get down to around 180, maybe less, by the end of wrestling season)

Theirs no hurt in trying just remember to listen and dedicate yourself. i have a really busy scheudual with boxing on tuesday and thursday and wrestling on monday and wednesday

Start running and skippin and cardio if you dont do that in wrestling

How many boxing clubs are in your area? Joe Frazier's book, Box Like The Pros, will give you some guidelines on how to evaluate clubs, trainers and training. Kermit Cintron made the switch from wrestling to boxing, with some degree of success. You would do well to study his career so as not to repeat his mistakes.

"Some degree of success"???? That's a very modest appraisal of a man who just won a major world title. I guess guys who only become national amateur champions or, God forbid, state champions are utter failures by your measuring stick.... :rolleyes:
