I went to my first fight to discourage a young fighter. I had tried everything else, blackmail, crying, threatening, didn't work. But while there, as I was hanging on the cage, being yelled at by the crowd to get the hell out of the way........ I realized...........that no other sport had EVER made me realize the respect, honor and friendship between those that were competing. It wasn't just excitement, it was the knowledge that each person entering the cage was not doing so out of anger, or hostility, but a desire to put to use what they had managed to endure to even get to the cage! Long hours of working out, the frustration trying to divide work hours with training time, pain, budgeting money to even get the training, I could go on, but I became a fan of MMA. Vulgar, that was 2 yrs ago, that young 18 yr old fighter, my son! Thats how I know what you go thru, I have seen it first hand, I admire the strength you guys have to endure what you go thru, to get even a crumb of recognition. I happen to think all the fighters are the biggest hearted people, in the world. :wink:

I hate the way it is being put out there as "barbaric". What they do to people every day in Congress is barbaric, not MMA!

There is hardly a day that goes by that I am not changing the way someone thinks of MMA. I would even love to take Senator John Mc Cain to an event, I would change his mind, and possibly turn him into a fan.

John McCain and others like him is just a start, UFC has to start a different ad campaign, to change the impression people have of it. Inform the public of the changes that have been implemented. MMA has evolved from it's early beginnings. Peoples's love of something does not let money stand in the way.................. :)
