sometime in 2007 for me, probably during the summertime or sooner. maybe my boxing career will go no where, maybe i will go far, but i've made up my mind. i've got no amateur background yet, maybe i'll get some, maybe i won't. no need to suggest anything to me, i'm going to do my own thing, i'll keep you guys updated though.

I'd advise at least 20 amateur fights before you make that desisc

Same. I'm going pro next year after a few years of being an amateur. Hope all goes well.

Personally, I think most of you guys are delirious, sorry. You should think about turning pro, once you've PROVED yourselves as amateurs, and someone in the business starts bugging you about going pro. This whole "I'm turning pro next year, screw amateur, I'm too good for that" bull**** is laughable. Funny coincidence, that 95% in here has 0-5 fights, yet are all pro material. It's in your heads guys!

I realize that I can't crack that into your thick skulls. Just remember these words the next time you're flat on your back in an AMATEUR fight, or the next time you're getting high somewhere, not having been to the gym, in 3 months.

Actually you just tarred everyone with the same brush.

With the exception of Southpaw Stinger I do agree though. I have never seen any of the others speak about their amateur background. So what you said was true.

hey, it's not like i'm trying to sway other people to not have long amateur careers, but time is really running out for me, and besides, i'll just leave it at i know what i'm doing. as a matter of fact punchdrunk, i will be fighting next year, and if i feel i'm not ready, then i won't go pro, but if i'm kicking everyone's ass. i'll go pro. simple as that.

Hehe, I guess you know how that goes with your "I own boxingscene" threads? :P

I know I'm not making any friends with a post like that, and a couple of guys might be unjustly thrown in with the others. I just get sick of the BS in here sometimes. I mean, Versatile's one of the only people in here who's actually walked the walk, and posted his sparring and his fight, even when things didn't go so well for him.

So what's with the southpaw stinger? What's his story? He's legit?

How is time running out for you? What's your background and experience?

I guess my point is in that big IF in "but if i'm kicking everyone's ass. i'll go pro." Sounds to me like you have no idea what you're getting into yet. Sparring is NOT the same as fighting. I've seen so many guys, who are world champions in the gym, get unraveled in the real ring. And the opposite, guys who were easily owned by gymchamps in the gym, who stepped up and put people in their place in the ring. The point is, without actual (preferably extensive) fighting experience, you have no idea in which category you'll fall. And therefore the whole "when are you going pro" question becomes moot.

alright fair enough, i'll be fighting soon and we'll see. i guess people look at boxing in a different way than i do, i always knew a long time ago, that if i ever got into boxing, i wouldn't stop at just the amateur level.

Lets see...I'm going pro...never. My first amatuer fight is 19 days from today and unless I (at age 22) absolutely dominate all over the place in amatuer, and I mean something like a 50-3 record with over 15 knockouts, there's no way in hell I'm going pro. Too many guys in amatuer have amazing records and go on to get massacred in the pros, or fight in hotel lobbies for their entire career. No thanks. I box for fun and to do something competitive. I have 2 degrees and I'm working on a third. Unless I was the next Ali, it'd be dumb to box pro.
