View Full Version : 2 questions that I never hear discussed
Smokin' 10-22-2006, 04:51 PM 1. Who's the most complete fighter in the UFC?
2. Who's the 'best' fighter in the UFC? If the UFC had a 'p4p' title like boxing does, who would be champ?
1. I'd say St. Pierre. Dude's style is catchy as hell and is ****in' F-I-R-E.
2. I hate to say it, but Hughes. Even though dude cuts weight like mad, he knows how to fight and win.
What say you?

Easy. BJ Penn and Anderson Silva
Anderson Silva is the best fighter right now in the UFC.
the_fusionist 10-23-2006, 02:34 AM I agree with that.
Love him or hate him, Matt Hughes is probably the best p4p fighter right now in any organization. The guy 40 wins with a 90% finishing rate, not to mention he fights alot of tough competition. Sure he gets a easy fight every now and then, but don't let your hate or biased get the best of you. He is the tops in his devision....
Anderson Silva is a good fighter, but he aint all that yet. Hendo would have his way with him IMO. His win over Franklin was damn impressive, but dont go getting all hyped because of that win and Chris Leben. Leben aint shit.....
LHWchamp5 10-23-2006, 10:18 AM Does P4P still count when your cutting 25LBS at the weigh in and putting it all back on before the fight?? so if hughes out weighs his opponent by 25LBS I'm sorry I just can't call him the best P4P fighter.. maybe if he was a lil guy destroying peeps heavier than him but not if he's the heavier fighter smashing lil guys.. IMO its impossible to give any UFC fighter a ranking of "best pound for pound fighter". especially while pride and IFL are loaded with all this talent.
Almost every fighter that isnt heavyweight cuts weight....
the_fusionist 10-24-2006, 12:17 AM The question was who are the most complete fighters. Matt Hughes can't fight. I thought Penn made it clear in the last fight. I however think with guys like GSP and Sanchez you really can't give Penn the title. In the middleweight division though I'd have to give it to Silva. Hendo is in Pride, the question was about the UFC.
Rockin' 10-24-2006, 12:20 AM None of those cats above would/could stand a chance against Hoskins, or Exige for that matter.......................Rockin':boxing:
LHWchamp5 10-24-2006, 09:03 AM Almost every fighter that isnt heavyweight cuts weight....
Most of the other fighters taht cut weight arent' dropping a full weight class to do so.. Except funny enough they're champs.. Franklin( i nkow he lost) hughes and chuck.. Frnkln used to fight 205, hughes fought 185 and chuck could do the HW thing but he would be disadvantaged.. he moves slow enough at 205 lol.
DeltaSigChi4 10-24-2006, 09:57 PM 1 - Baby Jay Penn
2 - Anderson Silva
Honourable mention for #1 - Dirty Nightmare Diego Sanchez
Honourable mention for #2 - Baby Jay Penn

I don't see how BJ fits into the top spot on either catagory. To be the best fighter in the UFC, well, you got to beat someone in the UFC. Which he hasnt done it what, 3 years? As for being the most complete fighter, well cardio is part of the package, and BJ has shit for cardio. If he where in good shape and took this shit seriously, there's no doubt that he could be the best, and most well rounded fighter, but the dudes lazy, and it shows....
LHWchamp5 10-25-2006, 05:08 PM Come to think of it dave loiseau is a pretty complete fighter his only problem is when he gets hurt, he shows it and stops fighting..as farr as skill goes though he's pretty well rounded..
Babalu showed us he THOUGHT he had good stand up lol.. Chuck kinda shutdown that dream though..
DeltaSigChi4 10-27-2006, 02:47 AM Yep, hasn't won a fight in three years. Funny thing is that he wasn't fighting for two of those years. Good thing you're soley a TUF-era gnub and know shit all about MMA, or else I would be worried about what your opinion consisted of.
Carry on.

he said in the UFC....read the whole post before you attack :tapedshut
drunkenmstr13 10-27-2006, 02:59 AM not sure who the most complete is but Hughes is the best p4p fighter in the UFC and easily one of the best in the world

That's when I joined globalmma.com, 3 years before TUF came out, my join date on sherdog.com is early 2001. So much for you're TUF-era noob comment. I've explained how BJ dont fit in there, please tell me how he is the tops for either catagory? He isnt the most complete fighter because his cardio is shit, and being able to go the distance is part of being a complete fighter. The best fighter in the UFC? How, being 1-2 in your last 3 ufc fights mean atleast 2 other people are better than you right?

Should I dumb it down for you?
He said that BJ hasn't won a fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championships organization in the last three years.
Well, Baby Jay Penn hasn't fought in two of those three years in the org (he's only fought for the last year out of those three), so it's a ridiculous thing to use against him. Read the whole post before you reply *insert smilie here*

Should I care? Because I don't.
That's when I joined globalmma.com, 3 years before TUF came out, my join date on sherdog.com is early 2001.
Still don't care.
I've explained how BJ dont fit in there, please tell me how he is the tops for either catagory?
Maybe I should let you figure it out yourself.
He isnt the most complete fighter because his cardio is shit, and being able to go the distance is part of being a complete fighter.
Is his cardio really shit? That's funny, how you conclude that off of one UFC fight where he got injured. TUF-gnub.
The best fighter in the UFC? How, being 1-2 in your last 3 ufc fights mean atleast 2 other people are better than you right?
Wrong.

drunkenmstr13 10-29-2006, 02:20 AM Yep, hasn't won a fight in three years. Funny thing is that he wasn't fighting for two of those years.
i did.....
it`s funny...there was a dud that looked just like penn fighting Machida and Renzo in `05
davesummers 10-29-2006, 04:55 AM I could be wrong. However does Matt ever go up and fight LHs? Dan Henderson a natural welter just beat up Vitor Belfort. Plus Dan Henderson did great with Wanderli. I have never seen Matt move to Middleweight. Or fight a LH. Put Matt in there with Randy Coture or Wanderli and see what happens.
Dan Henderson was in with Wanderli. Why cant Matt fight him?
LHWchamp5 10-29-2006, 07:50 AM Exactly what i'm talking about.. UFC doesn't challenge their fighters..
Who in their right mind would feed a MW to cro-cop?? only pride bebe..
It's funny chuck won't fight, AA or sylvia, yet wandy steps up and enters an OWGP..
thats what i like about pride, no more paper champs. wanderlei goes undefeated for 5yrs in MW so they say **** it we wanna see how good he really is, As of right now wanderlei has fought 4-5 HW's while little liddell is playing with peeps he beat years ago which doesn't make sense becuse he's currently at his peek in his career....
Oh well shitty politics, never liked em never will.
Fatal 11-04-2006, 02:11 AM Brandon Vera is a talented and well rounded HW. Studies kickboxing with one of the best, has a Greco background and is a Loyd Irvin brown belt I believe.
