Boxing fans send emails asking the same question every single week, when is David Tua coming back? The wait is almost over and the heavyweight division better beware, the Tuaman is on the comeback trail.

The word coming out of New Zealand is that David Tua is already beginning to get the wheels rolling on his comback. Former trainer Lou Duva told the media in New Zealand that he met with Tua recently in Las Vegas to go over comeback plans and discuss a strategy. Tua is hoping to hook back up with Duva once he straightens out his legal problems. Tua expects to be back in the ring by March or April of 2005. He has a court date on October 26th to settle his long running legal battle with former manager Kevin Barry. Tua claims that Barry had misused Tua's funds, among other things, for the last few years. Tua cannot fight until the legal dispute is resolved.

"I'm hopeful (we're getting back together), I love David like a son and I don't want to be the guy who says, 'I told you so.' I offered him my help in any way I can. He came back to me. I went back to him and then we saw each other in Las Vegas. We have a relationship that will only get better and better." said Duva [details (http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=100)]

If Tua actually makes it back into the ring, him and Tyson should take a tuneup and then face each other and call it a career already. A Tyson-Tua bout is gonna be far more entertaining than any other heavyweight matchups out there! I mean I don't see how this could possibly be a boring fight, and let me add that, the winner of the bout goes on to fight BUTTERBEAN hehehe! Again far more exciting than any other heavyweight bouts out there. Would anybody out there dare say that there is something better than these 2 "dream bouts" in the heavyweight division?

Last I heard, Tua was catastrophically out of shape.

The guy's around 310 lbs easy. I hope he gets his act together and beats the heck out of Ruiz.

Well one of the problem is, even when Tua was active, he still comes in bloated. I wouldn't mind Tua fighting Toney.

rahman might be the best heavyweight right now..i think he could beat vitali brewster and ruiz with he new found work ethic ... but he might struggle with bryd....vitali dont get no respect from me he aint fought nobody yet... he fought a fat lennox lewis and lost the fight he fought a fat kirk johnson and a fat corrie sanders .. then he refused golota after the bryd fight sayin he wasnt ready for golota...so his first real test is danny williams who would of been knocked out by tyson .. so time will tell

So Rahman is the best heavyweight out there now? Someone may want to tell Alfed Cole about this.

Any good a Tua comeback would do to the heavyweight ranks! :p He wasn't able to shake boxing when he was younger, he won't be able to shake it now. If, by some remote chance, he does, it is not gonna be a testament to his new-found skills but evidence of how low the heavies have sunk. :o We have seen the best of Tua. :)

alfred cole was his first fight back

So I guess it doesn't count because Cole took him the distance which is something the next 3 tomato cans couldn't do. I don't see how you can judge someone by what he did against 3 tomato cans.

Mario Cawley TKO 2 : 22-11, on 6 fight losing streak, lost 11 of his last 12 before fighting Rahman and his only win was a DQ. A shot Mercer KO'd him in 3 rounds 2 fights before Rahman fought him, and a shot Larry Donald TKO'd him by 3 in Cawley's next fight.

Rob Calloway KO 2: 49-5-1, probably the best of the 3, but soft hitting Audley Harrison TKO'd him in 4 rounds five fights before Rahman fought him.

Terrence Lewis KO 2: 31-15-1, won 1 of his last 7 fights before fighting Rahman.

I also forgot to include how much Rahman struggled against Sanders compared to Vitali.

Not in the review but, this would be a good fight for Tyson. They both have the same style. This is the fight Tyson needs to test his boxing ability. I think Tyson could win in 7 or 8 rounds.
