di naman network natin ang mag-ko-cover nito eh. espn will do it. yung mga past events like nung time na sa cardiff, wales pa ginagawa, napupuyat ako kakahintay eh, mapanood lang ng live!
Papa Ace 11-05-2006, 09:53 PM Reyes Keeps Tournament Hopes Alive
EFREN Reyes clinched a vital victory that kept his hopes alive of reaching the knock-out stages in the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championships.
Reyes lost in his first match on Saturday against American Tony Crosby and a second defeat would have ended Bata's chances of making the last 64. His opponent on Sunday was Radoslaw Babica of Poland and he was also in a similar position where a loss would eliminate him from the tournament.
Bata, who won the 1999 World Championship and was favourite to win again this year, lost the first rack but quickly recovered to take a 4-2 lead. However, Babica kept fighting and looked capable of causing a shock as the match became a hill-hill affair in the race to eight.
Backed by a large partisan crowd at the Philippine International Convention Center, Reyes held his nerve to clinch the last rack and win the match 8-7, to the delight of the home supporters.
He now faces a must-win clash against Roy Apancho of Indonesia on the main table on Monday, November 6.
However, Reyes refused to get too optimistic ahead of this important match. He said: "I don't want to take him lightly because he beat Babica by a big margin (8-1) and I only beat him (Babica) 8-7. That's why I can't take any chances with the match as Apancho is capable of causing damage."
Papa Ace 11-05-2006, 09:55 PM Marvelous Starts In Fine Style
MARVELOUS Marlon Manalo, one of the fancied local picks, got his 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship campaign off to a good start as he got the better of relative Canadian unknown Nicolas Guimond of Canada by an 8-5 scoreline.
Manalo, 31, from Mandaluyong City, was a semi-finalist last year in Kaohsiung and is tipped to improve on that finish on home soil.
He said: “I was a little bit nervous but that was the added pressure of playing at home. When I’m abroad I just play my game but I’m now playing for my countrymen. I need more improvement though as I made two mistakes on long cut shots.
"I'm about 90 per cent of my game now but every time I go to the table I don’t know how I’m going tp play. I’ll try and go deeper in this tournament than last year though. I should, I must!”
Papa Ace 11-05-2006, 09:56 PM Chen Files Protest Against Strickland
THERE was more controversy this evening at the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship as America's Earl Strickland again landed himself in hot water following a prolonged bout of boorish behaviour in his Group 17 match on Table 3 against Chen Ying-chieh of Chinese Taipei.
Strickland was the eventual winner by an 8-6 margin but the talking point was the American’s unsportsmanlike actions which boarded on the outrageous. A large crowd gathered around the outside table at the Philippines International Convention Center and Strickland certainly did not disappoint them.
Highlights included throwing his cue to the ground following every visit to the table, audibly swearing to the audience and threatening to hit his opponent over the head with his cue when Chen refused to shake hands at the end of the match. Strickland's behaviour clearly affected his opponent and Chen signaled his displeasure by refusing the customary hand shake at the end of the match.
Following the game, Chen and the Chinese Taipei delegation submitted a written protest which is currently under investigation by the World Pool Association.
More to follow later.

Volatile Earl In Trouble Again
PERENNIAL fire-cracker Earl Strickland blotted his copy book once again as he folded against Frenchman Vincent Facquet in an opening day group match defeat at the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship the PICC in Manila.
The final score ended 8-4 in favour of Facquet was the final score but it was the way the match ended that was typical Strickland (pictured right with referee Nigel Rees), a three-time World Champion, who hails from South Carolina.
His off-the-wall behaviour has become a regular feature of the WPC and he was out of sorts against as the Frenchman opened up a lead down the home straight.
He started muttering under his breath and fidgeting to Facquet’s clear annoyance. The Frenchman, not to be outdone, responded in kind and eventually referee Nigel Rees called both players together and ordered a halt.
However, ‘The Pearl’ continued to fiddle with his cue case while Facquet was playing and referee Rees issued a final warning. Strickland asked whether he could concede the final rack before saying "I don’t care, I’m out of here."
With a defeat in his first match, Strickland now faces an uphill struggle to make Wednesday’s knock out stages.

Papa Ace 11-06-2006, 07:18 AM Earl Apologises For 'Unacceptable' Behaviour
EARL Strickland has apologised for his 'completely unacceptable' behaviour during and after his match with Chinese Taipei player Chen Ying-chieh.
American Strickland threw his cue on to the floor after every visit to the table, swore at the crowd and threatened to hit Chen at the end of the match after he had refused to shake his hand.
The Pearl could have been thrown out of the competition and attended a meeting with Matchroom Sport's Tournament Director Sharron Tokley and WPA Sports Director Thomas Overbeck.
After the meeting, a statement was released, including the following paragraphs:
"Mr Strickland...admitted that his behaviour was completely unacceptable and apologised for it. Whilst not excusing his behaviour, he did present valid reasons for it, trying not to excuse himself, but to explain his conduct.
"After reviewing the evidence... Mr Strickland was informed that he is officially warned for his further participation in this tournament that any future misbehaviour will lead to him forfeiting the match.
"Mr Strickland accepted the verdict and has promised to change his behaviour."

I wonder what "valid reasons" Strickland had for acting like a spoiled brat having a tantrum? :bottle: I also wonder if he would've done that on Table #1.
Papa Ace 11-06-2006, 11:39 PM Varied Fortunes For Favoured Nations
SOME nations are faring better than others at the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship as play continues through day three at the PICC in Manila.
Philippines, the biggest single entrant with 21 contestants in the starting line-up of 128 players have suffered mixed fortunes. Betting favourite Efren Reyes is through as is Lee Van Corteza, whose two wins from two are good enough to claim a top two spot in Group 9.
Resurgent veteran Rodolfo Luat is sitting pretty with a similar record and Ramil Gallego will sweat it out watching this evening’s final Group 32 clash between Tepwin Arrunath (Thailand) and Robb Saez of the USA. A big win for the Thai should see him home but any other result favours the Pinoy, while Jeff De Luna (pictured right) looked impressive during his triumph over England's Kevin Uzzell.
However, seasoned campaigner Leonardo Andam is out following defeats to Ralf Souquet and Chang Jung-ling with WPC novices Roland Garcia and Jerome Pena as well as the fancied Antonio Lining also eliminated.
The big guns from Germany are not disappointing. Ralf Souquet is through with a perfect three from three record and as is 2003 World Champion Thorsten Hohmann following wins over Andy Worthington and Edwin Montal in Group 3.
Thomas Engert, the European No.1, looks on fire in Group 9 and his match against the also-qualified Lee Van Corteza will be for Group supremacy only. Veteran Michael Schmidt is also through with a 100 per cent record after two matches.
By contrast, the Dutch contingent is having a woeful time with the ‘Big Three’ of Lely, Feijen and van den Berg proving a big disappointment. Lely and Feijen are already out. Lely lost all three Group 25 matches to wallow at the foot of the table and Feijen will join him on the early plane home as defeats to Michael Schmidt and Ryu Seong-woo have sealed his fate.
Nick van den Berg has played just one game but that was an astounding 7-8 defeat to Qatar’s game Ahmed Al Sada who played a pressure cross table bank on the 9 ball for the win. Van den Berg stormed back with an 8-5 win over Sandor Tot to keep his hopes alive.
The players from Chinese Taipei, as usual are looking good with Wu, Yang and Chao on top form and a host of other players following closely behind.
Finally, there are mixed fortunes for Team USA. Jeremy Jones and Johnny Archer are both 2-0 whilst a misbehaving Strickland needs to win his last to survive the cut. Charlie Williams and Cory Deuel are both comfortably over the line while Rodney Morris, a semi-finalist in 2005, is already out of the 2006 competition.

Yung unang game nya against an american ay nakaka-dismaya! Imagine, he had a chance to win it but couldn't get it done and he missed a very makeable 9-ball na sana ay nagpanalo na sa kanya?
Malas lang kaya talaga? O, di lang talaga sya sanay na ma-pressure in front of his countrymen?
He needs to focus very well sa susunod nyang laban at kelangan nya din ng swerte - billiards is a game of breaks at lahat ng players kahit pa sabihing "unseeded" ay may kakayahang talunin kahit sino pang "seeded" players ang nandyan including our very own Efren Reyes.

nagkamali cia nung 14th rack sa placing niya lumabas ung bola at natsambahan ung 4ball and the kalaban went on to clean up the rack and then made a perfect break for a score of 8 to 7

Papa Ace 11-07-2006, 08:50 AM Fourth Seed Pagulayan Crashes Out
FILIPINO Alex Pagulayan crashed out of this year’s 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship as he lost a hill-hill thriller to Taiwan's seasoned Lee Kun-fang.
It was a bitter disappointment for Pagulayan’s army of home fans who gathered around TV Table Two at the Philippine International Convention Center, but the charismatic 2005 US Open champion can only have himself to blame following some lackluster performances.
An 8-2 win over limited Argentinian Gustavo Espinosa got Pagulayan, the competition’s fourth seed, off to a good start but he then slumped to a shock 8-2 defeat against the dangerous Li-He-wen of China.
That made today’s match a do-or-die affair and on-form Pagulayan, who won the World Championship in 2004, was expected to win. However, Lee had other ideas and he always maintained the pressure leading 4-1, 5-3 and 6-4 before ‘The Lion’ came back at him.
The encounter levelled up at 7-7 and with the Taiwanese player at the table he delivered his best break of the match, spreading the balls across the table. He held his nerve to run out and take his place in the last 64 at Pagulayan’s expense.
“I had no luck on the break and the balls didn’t run for me,” said Pagulayan. “It was the same in last night’s match but that’s the way it goes sometimes.”
speedjay 11-07-2006, 09:42 AM I wonder what "valid reasons" Strickland had for acting like a spoiled brat having a tantrum? :bottle: I also wonder if he would've done that on Table #1.
he's been treated with a kids gloves, eversince naman me tantrums na yan,but maybe nakita nya di siya pinapansin, lumala tuloy.isa pa laos na kasi kaya nagpapansin.

Papa Ace 11-08-2006, 12:42 PM Theyre finishing with the Group of 64 ( tournament dtarted with 128 players).
There were many Filipinos who were through to the knockout stages. However, world champions Francisco Bustamante and Alex Pagulayan were already eliminated. So as Ramil Gallego, Gandy Valle and Jose Parica.
The Philippines still has a strong contingent with Reyes, Dennis Orcollo, Marlon Manalo, Rodolfo Luat and Lee Van Corteza. Maganda rin laro ni Ronnie Alcano.
Right now, Orcollo vs. Reyes 8-4, Reyes leading.
speedjay 11-08-2006, 06:22 PM walang natirang amerikano pagkatapos ng round of 64.

Papa Ace 11-09-2006, 02:06 AM Double Joy For Pinoy Hopes
PINOY newcomer Jeffrey ‘Bata’ De Luna upset the applecart at the PICC as last 64 play continued on day five of the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship.
He took down fancied Dutchman Nick van den Berg in a 10-8 thriller to book a place in Round Three where he will play either Vincent Facquet or Lee Kun-fang and becomes the first of a 12 strong Filipino contingent to make it through to the last 32.
For De Luna, revenge was sweet after van den Berg KO’d his stablemate Gandy Valle from the competition on Tuesday night as the group stages concluded.
The 22 year-old from Pasig City looks a compact player and he carries the swagger of a young Bustamante. Schooled in the gambling culture of Filipino pool, De Luna is making his World Pool Championship debut and will certainly be delighted with his performances so far.
The match itself was nip and tuck throughout. De Luna (pictured right) led 4-2 and then 8-6 but van den Berg stuck with him and at 8-8 the match was anyone’s.
A critical miss in the 17th game from the Dutchman, handed the initiative to De Luna and he cleared to reach the hill. The final rack saw the Filipino take what was an eternity to pocket the 6, 8 and 9 but he composed himself to record the biggest win of his career to date.
“There was a lot of pressure as this was my first time in the World Championship but I’m pleased with the way I’m playing,” he said afterwards.
There was more Filipino joy on Table 3 as unknown Jharome Pena moved forward at the expense of Australia's lone hope Louis Condo by 10-7.
Pena’s progress in the Championship seems to have a touch of destiny about it. He only made it through to the starting line-up as fourth alternate from the qualifying school and made the last 64 as one of only two players to come through with just a single win.
Pena now faces Steve Davis or Fabio Petroni and will surely relish the opportunity against either of them.

Papa Ace 11-09-2006, 02:09 AM Manalo Glides Into Last 32
ONE of the big guns of Filipino pool enjoyed a comfortable passage into the last 32 shake up as Marlon Manalo executed a 10-5 victory over Singapore hope Chan Keng-kwang at the PICC in Manila .
The 30 year-old from Mandaluyong City was behind early on but as the match progressed the outcome never really looked in doubt as ‘Marvelous Marlon’ grabbed control and won nine of the next 13 racks to take the win.
He can now line up tomorrow against 2005 finalist Kuo Po-cheng of Taiwan for spot in the last 16 and a guarantee of a place in next year’s event.
“It was not an easy match, I made a slow start as he lead 2-0 and he was playing well in the beginning, said Manalo later.
“I like the alternate break here. The matches last longer but it gives both players a chance.
“I’m confident playing in Manila . There’s more pressure playing in front of your home fans but the upside of that is that they lift your morale.
“I’ve been practicing around two hours a day. I’ve only played Kuo once before and that was in a scotch doubles tournament in Taiwan . I hope I can go on and win and then do well later in the week,” he concluded.

it presented a big advantage para kay ronnie kasi walang scratch at kita kagad ung uno.
actually parang pinagbabawal na yata un sa US tour. dapat pag below table cueball must hit rail 3 times. sa soft break kasi 2 times lang. baka ma adjust yun sa next year.
congrats to pareng ronnie

Papa Ace 11-12-2006, 06:38 PM Souquet: Alcano Deserved The Glory
RALF Souquet vowed to bounce back from the disappointment of losing the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship final and insisted he could still win the title again.
http://www.worldpoolchampionship.com/Images/Articles//06WLDPOOL-FNL-SOUQUET38.JPG
Souquet lifted the trophy in 1996 but his 17-11 defeat aginst Ronato Alcano was the second time he had been beaten in the final (with the other occasion being in 2001).
However, the 37-year-old German admitted Filipino Alcano was a worthy winner of this year’s competition.
“He played awesome and really deserves the title,” said Souquet. “He has beaten all the big names and played great but I did everything wrong that I could’ve done.
“I had the first chance to run out a rack when the score was 9-2 against me. I had to play safe or push out every time and that’s really hard to be in control if you don’t find a rhythm. It’s a race to 17 so you think it’s going to change and there will be a point where you can win a few games and make him nervous.
“But he played better than I did. I made some really dumb mistakes and on top of that everything went his way, but that’s what happens.
“My goal is to be the World Pool Champion again and hopefully that can happen here in the Philippines. I think I have another ten years ahead of me where I could win this title once more and I guarantee I’m going to.”
The German was not happy about Alcano’s use of soft breaks and called for the rules to be changed.
Souquet said: “His soft break was working really well and almost every time he had a shot at the one ball - that made it easy for him to dominate the match.
“I’m not a big fan of soft breaks and whenever I can choose to break hard I will always do so. I would like to see a rule that says you have to hit the breaks hard but unfortunately it’s not in the WPA Rules and the players are allowed to use the soft break. But I’m not blaming the rules - I just don’t like it myself.”
An emotional Souquet burst into tears at the end but received great support from the sporting home fans who chanted his name.
“The Filipino crowds are always great,” said Souquet. “Of course everybody was routing for Ronato Alcano, which is understandable, but they also cheered for me when I won my games.
“After the match they showed their appreciation and I’m always glad when I have the opportunity to play a tournament here because the people are nice and speak English.
“It’s my dream to win the tournament here in the Philippines , maybe next year or in a couple of years. I wanted to win as badly as anybody in the building but it was not meant to be.
“In the Philippines, people are crazy, in a good way, about pool and I’ve definitely made a few new fans. I’m looking forward to coming back here next year.
Papa Ace 11-12-2006, 06:40 PM Alcano: This Win Will Change My Life For Ever
RONATO Alcano admitted winning the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship will change his life for ever.
Alcano, 34, defeated Ralf Souquet 17-11 to become the third Filipino to win the competition following successes for Efren Reyes in 1999 and Alex Pagulayan in 2004.
This victory gives Alcano $100,000 as well as the prestigious title of best player in the world and will have a huge impact on the rest of his career. He will become an overnight star in his home country and will be invited to numerous competitions around the world.
“My life will change,” said Alcano. “I’m still thinking about what I need to do with the money as this is the first time I’ve ever had this amount.
“I had to go through many qualifying tournaments but now as I have the title of World Champion I feel my life will be easier.
“My game plan was to try and get the break working and open up a two or three rack lead. When I got a six-rack lead (at 9-3) a little bit more comfortable but I knew it was not over.
“Ralf Souquet is so controlled, even when the crowd went against him he remained focused, unlike a player like Earl Strickland, and Ralf was always so poised. At the end I was holding back tears and this is how good it feels to be the World Champion but I was successful in not breaking down and crying.”
Alcano believed his success showed what could happen if people worked hard at the sport they loved.
“If you continue to work hard then anyone could become the new World Pool Champion,” added Alcano.
“I would like to thank my family who have supported me along the way. As the tournament progressed, and after beating Efren Reyes and Wu Chia-ching, I became more confident. I dedicate this victory to my family and everyone who has supported me.”
Alcano started the competition with two defeats against German Christian Reimiering and Vietnam ’s Luong Chi Dung and only just made it out of the group stages.
He admitted he had changed his tactics to fully use the soft break and that worked with knock-out victories against tough opponents Roberto Gomez, Efren Reyes, Kuo Po-cheng, Wu Chia-ching, Li He-wen and then Souquet in the final.
Alcano concluded: “After my first two losses I saw the soft break work, looked at it and am now the World Champion.”
Papa Ace 11-12-2006, 06:41 PM The Final: Rack by Rack
Rack 1
With no shot on the 1 ball, Souquet plays safe. Alcano returns the compliment with a tight snooker but Souquet’s escape leaves the 1 ball on. From there the Filipino runs out to take the opener against the break. 0-1
Rack 2
A soft break from Alcano sets up the balls nicely and from there he clears to increase his lead.
0-2
Rack 3
A fine break from Souquet spreads the balls but a loss of position going from 1 to 2 forces him to miss. Alcano plays safe and nearly scratches. In the end the Filipino has a great chance but misses a cut on the 2 ball. Souquet runs out of position moving to the 6 ball though. With the onus on him, Alcano dishes to take a three rack advantage. 0-3
Rack 4
Employing the soft break Alcano looks in a good position but he over draws the cue ball and is forced to play a chancey cut on the 4. He misses but the balls run safe. Souquet though, plays a good snooker and Alcano’s escape leaves the table open for the German who runs out to get on the scoreboard. 1-3
Rack 5
Souquet chooses the safety following his break with too many of the balls tied up. Both players have visits before Alcano leaves Souquet hooked badly. He plays the deliberate foul leaving the 1 stuck onto the 5 ball. Alcano hooks him again but this time Souquet makes a good contact moving the 1 ball into play. The Filipino makes it 1 and then leaves Souquet hooked again. He escapes but leaves a nakeable ban on for Ronnie. He successfully takes it on and clears up to take the rack. 1-4
Rack 6
Alcano broke and has a shot on the one, but then missed a table-length shot when he tried to roll the blue two down the rail. To make things worse the ball ends up right over the pocket to leave the Kaiser with a simple opportunity. He accepts the gift and runs through the rest of the balls to take only his second rack. 2-4
Rack 7
T wo balls off the break for Souquet leaves him a testing long pot on the 2 ball. He opts for safety but leaves it on for his opponent. Alcano takes it on and completes the most brilliant of run outs to increase his lead to three racks. 2-5
Rack 8
Alcano plays a great safety following his break shot but Souquet responds with a fine three rail escape. A bold move from the Filipino sees him cannon the 1 ball into the 2 ball to pot it. He continues his run to clear the table and create some space between himself and Souquet. 2-6
Rack 9
Souquet broke off but was forced to play safe on the 2 ball. Alcano rolled the same ball down the rail but it left a space for Souquet who made the pot but lost position going from 3 to 4. The key shot was Alcano potting the pink 4 and from there he ran out. 2-7
Rack 10
Alcano completes the second break and run of the match to give Souquet further problems. 2-8
Rack 11
Souquet wins only his third rack of the match as he completes a tidy run out. 3-8
Rack 12
A straightforward 4/9 combo does the business for Alcano as the pressure on Souquet mounts.3 -9
Rack 13
Souquet is forced to push out and following the safety exchange Alcano missed the bank shot on the 3 which Souquet then pots off the top rail. That sets him up for the run out as he reduces the deficit to five racks. 4-9
Rack 14
Alcano going for a long 6 ball misses it and sees the cueball scratch into the bottom pocket. With ball in hand, Souquet clears to reduce the arrears. 5-9
Rack 15
Alcano makes a brave pot on the blue 2 into a blind pocket and set up a tough run out and take increase his lead to 5 games. 5-10
Rack 16
An on-fire Ronnie Alcano pots the 2 ball off the break and leaves himself a shot on the 1 ball into the centre pocket. From there he completes the run out. 5-11
Rack 17
There was no luck for Souquet following his break shot as the 1 ball was obscured by the 8 ball. He tried to swerve his way out of trouble but left the yellow 1 over the pocket. Alcano seized the opportunity and ran out he further increase his chances of taking the title. 5-12
Rack 18
Alcano plays safe after his break and with all the balls in the lower half of the table there is plenty of places to hide. His shot is too loose though as Souquet gains the initiative. Eventually he runs out to take one against the break. 6-12
Rack 19
A fabulous cut down the rail on the 4 ball set up another magic run out for ‘Calamba’ and he moved into a seven rack lead. 6-13
Rack 20
A tidy 6/9 combo from ‘Calamba’ sees him move into a seven rack lead. 6-14
Rack 21
A powerful break from Souquet saw the 1, 6 and 8 drop. He pocketed the two and then banked the 3 into the centre pocket. The run continued and the German had a real tester on the 6 ball but he held his nerve to take the rack. 7-14
Rack 22
Following a protracted safety exchange, Alcano played a table length escape with too much pace which left the 3 ball over the centre pocket. Souquet has no problems clearing up. 8-14
Rack 23
Souquet narrowly misses the 9 ball into the side pocket following his break but the table spreads nicely. The German reduces the deficit with a solid run out. 9-14
Rack 24
Alcano rolls home another soft break and gets great shape on the 1 ball to set up an easy run out and stop Souquet’s run of three consecutive racks. 9-15
Rack 25
Disaster for Souquet as he scratches into the middle pocket trying to play safe on the 1 ball. It’s a gift from above for Alcano. With ball in hand he runs through the colours, managing to skillfully break up the 8 and 9 which are stuck together. With the winning line getting closer, he buckles and misses a long pot on the 9 which lands perfectly for Souquet. 10-15
Rack 26
Following the break shot, Alcano completes a couple of great shots, potting the 1 then the 2 balls to dispel any nerves from the previous rack. Despite the gravity of the occasion he calmly clears the table. 10-16
Rack 27
A golden break for Ralf keeps his dream alive. 11-16
Rack 28
After the break, Alcano has no pot on the 1 ball so plays a very tight snooker, locking the cue ball up behind the 2 down table. Souquet escapes superbly but Alcano puts him in another hook. Souquet fouls trying to escape and leaves a 1/9 on for his opponent. Alcano makes it and is the 2006 Philippines World Pool Champion. 11-17

Papa Ace 11-14-2006, 11:23 PM PGMA confers Order of Lakandula on 2006 World Pool Champion Alcano
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2006 | SPORTS
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo conferred today the Order of Lakandula with the Rank of Champion for Life on newly-crowned 2006 World Pool Champion Ronato Alcano.
Alcano was cited for outclassing former titlist Ralf Souquet of Germany, 17-11, in the final match Sunday of the 2006 World Pool Championship at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
Aside from the citation, which is a direct equivalent of the Order of National Artists, the Order of National Scientists, the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan and other Orders of cultural and scientific merit bestowed on individuals who have done extraordinary feats in their chosen field of expertise, the President also awarded Alcano with P1 million cash for his feat.
The simple conferment and awarding ceremonies were held this morning at Malacañang with Cabinet secretaries and employees of the Office of the President in attendance.
The chefs of Malacañang also presented an "award" to Alcano in the form of a special cake they baked to look like a billiard table complete with a cue stick and billiard balls.
Chef Jason Natonton, who came up with the innovative confection together with co-chefs Karl del Rio and Lorie Dacillo, said that the rectangular cake was made with a foundation of butter cake with chocolate colored butter crème frosting. Natonton added that the cue stick and billiard balls were made of fondant.
Alcano said he would invest the cash prize from the President in the education of his children and the usual expenses incurred in raising a family.
He profusely thanked the Chief Executive for the early Christmas gift.
"Ang saya-saya ko kasi kahit papaano, nabigyan ako ng maagang Christmas gift," Alcano said.
After the event, the President convened the weekly Cabinet meeting at the Aguinaldo State Dining Room of the Palace.
