Tanner Rhoden 12-15-2002, 08:56 PM I thought you might want to read this Jeremy It's a fight description from Shields v.s. Sakurai Round 1 starts with Sakurai tossing Jake and getting the mount. SH*T!!!!!! That was supposed to be Jake's strong point. Jake rolls out of it and gets on top. Scramble and Mach mounts again, even getting the hooks in. Jake pulls him over the top, and finishes the round with punishing body shots from the top. Even round. Round 2 starts with another throw by Sakurai. (Editorial note: I'm a 'Drink the Kool-Aid' Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fan, but I have to admit Sakurai applied Judo throws very well to MMA) There's a scramble and Jake winds up on top, and spends most of the round attempting pass and Ground and Pound. Jake's body shots were taking their toll on Sakurai. We thought Jake won it, but thought it was close going into Round 3. Round 3 Jake is the Man. He takes Sakurai down. He reaches around Mach's back with his left arm and grabs Sakurai's left arm. He gets dozens of unanswered punches with his right arm. Sakurai attempts elevations and sweeps, but Jake shuts it down. Jake stays busy punching, punching, punching... Jake tries several guard passes, but Mach is relentless in getting back to guard. Jake keeps punching, and Sakurai can't stop the onslaught.
