It was about training properly and geting the exercise that is needed to compete and to give yourself the best possable chance of winning and some other ****. i was in good shape when i fought,it was my shoes that was my down fall. i had shoes that were 6 years old with holes in them.ahaha,my coach said he had a pair i could use but he didnt come threw so i was forced to fight with the one's with oil on them.but i take all the blame for it though i should have bought some Versastyle 10-15-2006, 11:50 PM If i remember correctly he said he won nope.they gave it to the other guy cause with me slipping it looked as if i was hurt Versastyle 10-15-2006, 11:51 PM hell here it is. mgkirkpatrick 10-16-2006, 12:07 AM yeah u looked good in teh first round till you started slipping Versastyle 10-16-2006, 12:09 AM yeah u looked good in teh first round till you started slipping i had him hurt the first 20seconds of the fight. then i started feeling my feet. if i had better shoes i woulda took him out in the first mgkirkpatrick 10-16-2006, 12:14 AM u still landed some nice shots. he had a decent chin. saw him staggered at least once. better luck next time -Antonio- 10-16-2006, 12:24 AM Yeah you can definitely tell the shoes were giving you problems. Its not just some excuse. I see youre trying to be like a mini Tyson in there. Versastyle 10-16-2006, 12:26 AM Yeah you can definitely tell the shoes were giving you problems. Its not just some excuse. I see youre trying to be like a mini Tyson in there. i was useless without good shoes.i couldnt sit on my punch's,where i generate my power, thats where the first 45second of the round i was nailing the guy.but **** happen's 1 most go on.the funny thing is i think the guy actually thought he hurt me.ahaha,im praying i get to fight him again. ferocity 10-16-2006, 01:08 AM i was useless without good shoes.i couldnt sit on my punch's,where i generate my power, thats where the first 45second of the round i was nailing the guy.but **** happen's 1 most go on.the funny thing is i think the guy actually thought he hurt me.ahaha,im praying i get to fight him again. You did good even with slipping shoes. You did at least win the first round. Though it looked like in the second round like you got stunned, looked like when you ducked a punch, you ran right into a few of him combos, leaving you off balence, but then again with the shoes i can't be sure of that. You should have just pinned him on the ropes and keep him there, but after reviewing the video, one time you did pin him on the ropes you slipped due to the shoes. You need to start throwing more straight punchs and hitting the body. I would get a bit rougher with your opponet, you got strength you should use it. Did the gloves feel like pellows? And were you surprised you couldn't stop your opponet? And why did you guys only fight 1 minute rounds? Also when i viewed the video a second time I noticed when you were squared up is when you started slipping when blocking his punchs. Your opponet how many fights did he have, he was a bit calm under pressure im sure he has a few fights. Good job, Corey - now go and buy some shoes. sleazyfellow 10-16-2006, 01:17 AM still pretty good ****ty shoes n all, if it was me ida moidered da bum, but seriously, i think he had u hurt when he hit u and one of ur legs went off the canvas, it did look like it for a minute then, and when u slipped the ref gave u a 8 count, i love how the refs in there tell u to stop holding, blah blah blah and dont even notice things like that, oh and its 1 minute for amatuer limit i think ferocity 10-16-2006, 01:47 AM still pretty good ****ty shoes n all, if it was me ida moidered da bum, but seriously, i think he had u hurt when he hit u and one of ur legs went off the canvas, it did look like it for a minute then, and when u slipped the ref gave u a 8 count, i love how the refs in there tell u to stop holding, blah blah blah and dont even notice things like that, oh and its 1 minute for amatuer limit i think Not where im from. All my amature fights, i fought the 3 minute a round fight. The shoes really ****ed him up. But he gots to not square up when he and his opponet has room to punch, that a no, no. You should only square up when you are on top of your opponet even then, to have balence quickly take one foot back to get good leverage. He's got talent, you can see it, but he's got to do the training, sparring and so on to develope it. For his first fight he looked good besides the slipping of the shoes. PunchDrunk 10-16-2006, 03:42 AM You must have fought amateur a long time ago, then Ferocity. Amateur fights at the senior level are 2 minute rounds, and have been for 15+ years. :) ferocity 10-16-2006, 03:52 AM You must have fought amateur a long time ago, then Ferocity. Amateur fights at the senior level are 2 minute rounds, and have been for 15+ years. :) No, last amature fight i had was 4 years ago. All my fights were 3 minute aa round. Well now i'll have to check, cause now im doubting myself, but im positve i fought 3 minute rounds. Also in one fight, i was set for 4 rounds. Though as you know, only in top copetition their are 4 rounds in amatures, but for that fight i was in a 4 round amature fight. Amateur fights are generally 4x2, though sometimes they cut them to 3x2 for beginners. I find it hard to believe you fought 3 minute rounds 4 years ago, as an amateur. Your memory must be playing tricks on you. ;) ferocity 10-16-2006, 04:21 AM Amateur fights are generally 4x2, though sometimes they cut them to 3x2 for beginners. I find it hard to believe you fought 3 minute rounds 4 years ago, as an amateur. Your memory must be playing tricks on you. ;) LOL! No, seriously i fought 3 minute rounds by 3 rounds. Im from the West Coast, California. Im from the city where the Aztec roams - Vargas. My first fight to my last were 3 minute by 3 rounds. Even my exibitions were 3x3, though they don't allow boxing exibitions anymore in California. Because some fighter show up with no fights, but have so many exibitions. I got videos to prove my fights were 3x3. Except my first fight, i didn't charge the video camera battery all the way so i was not able to film the entire fight, but i did get a tko in this fight 2nd rd, body punchs is what did him in. leow 10-16-2006, 04:52 AM damn , i taught that slipping shoe story was kinda strange but as usual you have a video to back up what you are saying, i hope you bought some shoes :p skyler 10-16-2006, 05:46 AM You looked good out there, landed some pretty nice shots, but yeah i could tell you were having some problems with your shoes just from your movement, buy some new shoes and hope for better luck next time :P. Southpaw Stinger 10-16-2006, 07:43 AM hell here it is. Thats rough dude. You started out strong in the first and it all went wrong for you in the second. You could tell the shoes were givin you problems. At least you'll have better shoes next time and you can fight to you're full potential. good luck bro. Versastyle 10-16-2006, 08:10 AM You did good even with slipping shoes. Good job, Corey - now go and buy some shoes. naw he didnt stun me what so ever,he did hit me with a good punch that made me go back then all the slipping begin once again.ahaha.and i wasnt surprised i couldnt stop him cause i couldnt get leverage on my punch's so i was like oh well.and i dont know how many fights he had.and im square when i throw shots cause i have power in both hands so it doesnt matter.and yeah the gloves did feel light as hell,12oz gloves RonRoss 10-16-2006, 08:20 AM ur the next mike tyson, jus dont be bightin enibodys ears off now Exige Jr 10-16-2006, 10:49 AM Versatile, props for posting that my friend. Your performance was excellent for somebody with no previous bouts behind them. I just feel for you, you did all that training and lost on a schoolboy error at the last hurdle... old shoes. Next time I know you'll get him again, and put him out in 1 or 2. On the bright side you slipped well and unloaded when you had the chance. On the bad side you forgot to throw when he was hitting you with flurries in the second. Judges hate that, ill tell you right now. So yeah, when he was hitting you stand up and be counted and start throwing back... the judges see it as a more of an equal trade than a one sided beating. Especially since you slipped after one of his flurries and it looked like he knocked you down legit. Take a good story from my gym in. A boy in my gym lost his amateur debut to a boy from Repton ABC, which is one of the best gyms in the UK at this moment. We reckon he got robbed, but thats irrelevant. He went back and done that same boy easily 2nd time round, about 2 weeks ago. Fought him yesterday again, as a final rematch and beat him again. So now he is 2-1 (0 KO's). Lets hope you can do something like that in the future. Good luck. fraidycat 10-16-2006, 10:56 AM Man, you looked GOOD in that first round. Can't wait to see you with the shoe problem solved. The good news is, you saved us all from making that mistake in the future. Thanks, man. Now we understand WHY you don't throw 100% when sparring. You'd run out of sparring partners real fast. :boxing: Dorian 10-16-2006, 11:08 AM great fight versatile you were great in the first round too bad for the shoes great fight though and good luck in the future:boxing: KingDosia 10-16-2006, 12:57 PM i was in good shape when i fought,it was my shoes that was my down fall. i had shoes that were 6 years old with holes in them.ahaha,my coach said he had a pair i could use but he didnt come threw so i was forced to fight with the one's with oil on them.but i take all the blame for it though i should have bought some That did look bad, Was it all the shoes or did the ring have one of those ****ty canvases? I know I've faught in rings where the canvas seemed like a ice rink or somthing. Tuf break though, Put it behind you The hard part is to get over it for the next time you fight. "not to think about it too much" You'll be straight though. Versastyle 10-16-2006, 01:36 PM thanx guys.like I said I got some new everlast shoes and I have changed a few things around.like spacing myself when throwing shots.and be alittle more patient but I should have my next bout in like a few weeks. NJFighter91 10-16-2006, 03:15 PM that was a good vid vers...first round you came out strong, in a positive way :) by second round i started noticing the slips good fighting though Dye 10-16-2006, 04:38 PM good fight man. i thought you won anyway ferocity 10-16-2006, 09:36 PM You must have fought amateur a long time ago, then Ferocity. Amateur fights at the senior level are 2 minute rounds, and have been for 15+ years. :) I was wrong you were right. I checked my fights. And the exibition i had was 1 minute x, 3 rounds. And my fights were 2 minutes x 3 rounds with the one fight for 4 rounds. I can't belive i never bothered to check or ask how many minutes was each round, all this time i thought i'd been fighting 3 minute rounds, damn, kind of pisses me off for being so ignorant. Now, im wondering if i would have trained even harder, instead of slacking off at times. But one thing is for sure, they felt like they were 3 minutes rounds. Again, I appoligize you were right. The Golden Boy 10-17-2006, 12:07 AM My first reaction when i heard about your fight was "that is the most pathetic excuse i have ever heard". It's fairly obvious the shoes were causing you alot of trouble though so i was wrong. It must be a ***** having a lousy excuse like that when it's actually true. When you tell people you lost cause of shoes they be like "sure man", no seriously my shoes are old and i was slipping, "oh yeah, i'm sure you were". Hey, no worries. :) Haha, those are some long ass two minutes in there, huh?! :D fraidycat 10-17-2006, 10:44 AM Haha, those are some long ass two minutes in there, huh?! :D No ****. Feels like two years. ferocity 10-17-2006, 04:32 PM Hey, no worries. :) Haha, those are some long ass two minutes in there, huh?! :D Yeah they are. The only time, i felt good was after I lost one fight, the next fight i didn't try and murder the other guy, I was mentally aware that i just wanted to win, but not ko the guy, and i had good wind through out the fight. Still felt a bit like the rounds were forever but this time i had more wind in my lungs. Getting in that ring can mess with your mind. |
