The Marciano Vingo fight seems to be in color and yet its the early 50's so I'm a bit curious to know how that is....other then that cool thread.....i've seen alot of these fights but still good to see them again :biggthump

Colour film has been around for a very long time. It wasn't used very much until the 60's/70's because black and white was cheaper. But I think that fight was private footage not intended to be broadcast.

Marciano was such a good hearted guy, I am reminded of that every time I see this fight, I mean he could have knocked Joe out much sooner if he wanted imo, in fact if you look at the fight you can see times where Rocky has a clear shot at Joe, but then somehow manages to miss, as if he were missing on purpose not to hurt Joe.

marciano did not take it easy on joe louis. louis was a big powerful dangerous top ranked contender even at 37. marciano had to bring his best because louis was still dangerous. check out the fight, louis busts up marciano with his jab and lands some hard left hooks on marciano that would fell anyone but granite chin marciano.

It appeared to be a home movie rather than anything "official". Color film has been available for a long time.

Personally, I did...always wanted to see that fight...or part of it; thank you.

It's kind of eerie how we see Marciano landing that uppercut and then in the next frame Vingo is laid out unconscious with everyone crowding around him. At the time, I'm sure everyone was concerned for his life. I'm just glad he ended up pulling through. Marciano of course helped him with his hospital bills.

Yeah, after Vingo's whole $1500 purse and his MSG insurance went to paying the hospital bill (said to be $3000), Marciano "may" have paid whatever was remaining on the bill...

Although, if you ask me, Marciano should have done more for Vingo...and I only say that because Marciano (and Weill) had promised Vingo that he/they would set up a benefit or something for Carmine, and never came through on his promise.
