RockyMarcianofan00 10-03-2006, 04:37 PM The Marciano Vingo fight seems to be in color and yet its the early 50's so I'm a bit curious to know how that is....other then that cool thread.....i've seen alot of these fights but still good to see them again :biggthump Toddy 10-03-2006, 04:54 PM some of those knockouts were amazin cheers for the links Southpaw Stinger 10-03-2006, 05:26 PM The Marciano Vingo fight seems to be in color and yet its the early 50's so I'm a bit curious to know how that is....other then that cool thread.....i've seen alot of these fights but still good to see them again Colour film has been around for a very long time. It wasn't used very much until the 60's/70's because black and white was cheaper. But I think that fight was private footage not intended to be broadcast. La_Vibora 10-04-2006, 03:04 PM Marciano was such a good hearted guy, I am reminded of that every time I see this fight, I mean he could have knocked Joe out much sooner if he wanted imo, in fact if you look at the fight you can see times where Rocky has a clear shot at Joe, but then somehow manages to miss, as if he were missing on purpose not to hurt Joe. Brockton Lip 10-04-2006, 04:29 PM Marciano was such a good hearted guy, I am reminded of that every time I see this fight, I mean he could have knocked Joe out much sooner if he wanted imo, in fact if you look at the fight you can see times where Rocky has a clear shot at Joe, but then somehow manages to miss, as if he were missing on purpose not to hurt Joe. Thats correct. And after the fight they both cried together : (. SuzieQ49 10-07-2006, 10:27 PM i was the one who uploaded the vingo fight for you all to see. i hope u enjoyed the rare footage SuzieQ49 10-07-2006, 10:29 PM marciano did not take it easy on joe louis. louis was a big powerful dangerous top ranked contender even at 37. marciano had to bring his best because louis was still dangerous. check out the fight, louis busts up marciano with his jab and lands some hard left hooks on marciano that would fell anyone but granite chin marciano. the vingo footage was a homeade video made, thats why its in color hemichromis 10-08-2006, 06:36 AM marciano did not want to fight louis because he ahd tremendous respect for him Toddy 10-08-2006, 06:47 AM thanks for the vids butterfly marciano was a hard-hitter! K-DOGG 10-08-2006, 07:25 AM The Marciano Vingo fight seems to be in color and yet its the early 50's so I'm a bit curious to know how that is....other then that cool thread.....i've seen alot of these fights but still good to see them again :biggthump It appeared to be a home movie rather than anything "official". Color film has been available for a long time. K-DOGG 10-08-2006, 07:27 AM i was the one who uploaded the vingo fight for you all to see. i hope u enjoyed the rare footage Personally, I did...always wanted to see that fight...or part of it; thank you. Kid Achilles 10-08-2006, 10:48 AM It's kind of eerie how we see Marciano landing that uppercut and then in the next frame Vingo is laid out unconscious with everyone crowding around him. At the time, I'm sure everyone was concerned for his life. I'm just glad he ended up pulling through. Marciano of course helped him with his hospital bills. Yogi 10-08-2006, 01:10 PM Marciano of course helped him with his hospital bills. Yeah, after Vingo's whole $1500 purse and his MSG insurance went to paying the hospital bill (said to be $3000), Marciano "may" have paid whatever was remaining on the bill... Although, if you ask me, Marciano should have done more for Vingo...and I only say that because Marciano (and Weill) had promised Vingo that he/they would set up a benefit or something for Carmine, and never came through on his promise. Dyl-G 10-08-2006, 04:27 PM whyd they call that 13th round the unlucky round? Southpaw Stinger 10-08-2006, 08:03 PM whyd they call that 13th round the unlucky round? 13 is meant to be an unlucky number. Dempsey 1919 03-04-2007, 12:32 AM bump........ |
