Soda contains high fructose corn syrup, which has been found to make your liver CREATE fat. Stay the hell away from it. No food that comes in a box or a can. The exceptions I make for this are Lean Cuisine or an organic alternative, and soup. I read someplace about shopping "the edges of the store" -- the minimally-processed food is to be found there. The heavily-processed stuff is mostly in the middle. Around the edges you have produce, bread, milk, meat, fish, and drinking water. Break the rules occasionally. That's how you stay sane. I have a knock of Scotch after a tough day at work, and when my wife makes something awesome, of course I'll have some. One or two nights a week I have a "normal" dinner; I'm fortunate that our lifestyles are so hectic that Lean Cuisines and protein shakes are sometimes the only way I can eat dinner. As stated, make it a lifestyle. I'm down 35 lbs. since Christmas just by changing my eating habits and exercising hard -- no fad diets, no diet pills. |
