all during the day i was expecting to spar a new guy that was pretty tall and 180 lb.

but a guy from another gym, john, came. I thought it was a new guy but his coach came in and said he was looking to spar a heavyweight. I was the only heavyweight in there so he was like okay, stretch and get the headgear. he weighed 220 lbs. 6 ft 6 with a long reach. he told me his record was 3-0, im like, ok.

so, i should have really expected what happened, to have happened. He had like 4 friends there with him so I shouldve expected him to come out hard in the 1st, I was expecting him to feel me out and work on my slipping...he had a quick right hand though and nailed me pretty good early on, which is when I threw my game plan out the door and started swinging for the fences on him, sometimes connecting, sometimes not. holyfield style. go in with a plan, get hit say **** it and start brawling... Not the way i wanna be but its how i did it. Beginning of the 2nd round, I timed a perfect wide looping power right hook, the type of punch my coach always tells me not to practice or throw in the ring......and it connected flush on his chin as soon as he stepped in with all his weight, i gave him a little shove and his legs were gone, his eyes was rollin around in his head and ****. Good sportsman that I am, I didnt even try to finish him like I know he wouldve done to me judging from how he came out at me in the first round, I helped him regain his balance and asked 'u alright?' as he staggered away and I fired off a jab sending him in retreat. he caught me with some good shots though but the majority of them landed when I was moving away with my chin tucked. my jaw hurts like a *****, i dont think it's broken though. No clicks or pops but I can't bite down comfortably, my bite feels off balance due to the swellin but cant tell really on the exterior of my face. i got a black eye too. I wish i got footage of his face. His face, 20-25 mins after we sparred, looked like Foreman's walrus face on his comeback footage. Completely swollen cheekbones, cut up swoll lip, bloody nose, swollen eye. He looked way worse than me.

anyways i have no idea how to put stuff from the camcorder to the computer but i will find out soon and get my sparring session on here for all you guys to critique. call me a bum or tell me what I did right or what I should do more against this particular guy or style modification suggestions etc. its whatever. im tired, just ran..need to get a bite, starving, but not gonna be able to chew comfortably so im going to drink a protein drink.. anyway if someone wants to save me some trouble and can tell me a cheap easy way to get something from a camera to a computer id appreciate it

How do you rember all this? every time I spar and especailly when I fight I can hardly rember anything at all about the fight. I would maybe only rember a big shot or a good exchange and beyond that nothing at all. As well I always have trouble recalling what happened in what round. To me it seems a little suspicious that you always seem to be able to go into great detail over what just happened

I SAID THE EXACT SAME THING!

I just got done sparring less than 2 hours ago and I couldn't tell you how the third round started off much less give you the play by play of this bs.

I'm in the ring thinking all the time, I can probably tell you what I need to work on a little more but as far as giving you the compubox punch stats....I guess we can leave that to SquareCircle.

alright, im off to radio shack. gonna bring my cam and ask the gurus how i do it and what i have to get. and I promise, ill have the sparring session up before the nights over.

I guarantee, if you like boxing, you'll appreciate this.

So if the fights tonight aren't that good, or a little too technical for your taste, be lookin for my vid. cuz there's lots of power shots thrown and landed and im sure you'll be entertained if you take a look. whats funny is before i ever walked into a gym i watched that dude exige's shadowboxing video a few times and picked up a little move I thought was kinda cool that he does with his hands. I do it a few times in the match, im sure he'll be interested to see that, heh.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they're allowed to tell you what to do because for all they know, you're gonna copy movies from VHS to computer...

If they tell you, great, but I'll sum it up...

Connect your VCR with RCA cables to your computers video card if it has RCA cables and if it doesnt, you can buy a cable with one end being RCA and the other end S-Video. Then just download Movie Mill or something and press play on the VCR.

I work at Radio Shack, they are gonna ask you if you have a Fire Wire input/port on your computer, if you do they are gonna sell you a cable that connects from you camcorder to your fire wire port it will run around 19.99, if you don't have a firewire port then its gonna be a bit hard because if you don't have that you probably wont have any rca/s inputs either.

Good Luck, and as far as remembering what you did durning sparring, i remember some of the stuff in there, we do 3 minute rounds and go for about 3 or four rounds.

I suppose you are another one of these dudes who does not listen to his trainer. When sparring with a new guy the first round you should practise your defense, that will give you a preview of what this guy has to offer. After that you should then try to impose your style on him. Slugfests are a complete waste of time.

Knocking out bigger guys isn't all that hard if you catch them on the sweetspot. Anybody can throw a lucky punch. Nevertheless, sparring isn't about knockouts, it's about learning to set up your opponents to get the knockout. That is not such an easy thing to learn.
