View Full Version : Who's the worst Heavyweight champ?? KingDosia 09-25-2006, 03:26 PM To hold and defend his title at least once????? KingDosia 09-25-2006, 03:27 PM To hold and defend his title at least once????? Rahman is my pick:banana: RAESAAD 09-25-2006, 03:28 PM I am sure there have been worse at one time or another but that ****ing Ruiz.......man he has to be one of the luckiest men alive. Southpaw Stinger 09-25-2006, 04:26 PM Leon Spinks. K-DOGG 09-25-2006, 04:40 PM To hold and defend his title at least once????? Well, narrowing it down to true/aka lineal champs, I'd have to say that Primo Carnera is a front runner. King Koyle 09-25-2006, 04:43 PM Bruce Seldon has to be up there! sleazyfellow 09-25-2006, 04:56 PM Well, narrowing it down to true/aka lineal champs, I'd have to say that Primo Carnera is a front runner. hes always the first one that comes to mind here too, so big yet so terrible in the ring like jess willard K-DOGG 09-25-2006, 04:58 PM hes always the first one that comes to mind here too, so big yet so terrible in the ring like jess willard Yeah, the only reason I'd favour Primo over Jess for the dubious posistion of being "worst" is at least Jess was able to fight hard for 26 rounds, albeit against an aging, out of shape Johnson. Point granted. I had just finished a convo about Rahman, when I started the thread my thinking was on more current fighters. That was a good pick I mentioned Rahman over Ruiz, because I think Ruiz could bore to death and beat Rahman, RockyMarcianofan00 09-26-2006, 03:20 AM He's not undisputed but my vote would go to Nikolay Valuev http://www.peoples.ru/sport/boxer/valuev/valuev_1.jpg The Raging Bull 09-26-2006, 04:14 AM Like has been said, the 'ambling alp' just wasn't born to be a boxer. I'd pick him with Spinkds a close second. MickyHatton 09-27-2006, 12:42 PM Henry Akinwande for me, his record is good on paper but it does not tell the entire story! PATO 1 09-27-2006, 12:59 PM bruce seldon or frank bruno azza 09-27-2006, 01:07 PM rahman, ruiz joeytrimble 09-27-2006, 02:50 PM marvin hart gets me vote Phantasm 09-27-2006, 04:20 PM Leon Spinks Yogi 09-27-2006, 04:43 PM The worst heavyweight champ? Geez, if I only knew what an oxymoron was, that above sentence may just fit the bill. Anyways, although Leon Spinks was a fighter with a fair amount of talent and was usually a fairly exciting fighter, I'd have to name him as having the least impressive resume of all the heavyweight champions (not including alpha titlists, because they don't fit the term "world Champion" to me)...Still he was one of only a very select few who climbed to the top of the highest peak and held the greatest honour in this sport. P.S. Da' Preem has gotten such a bad rap throughout time, and I think it's quite unfortunate that so many negative writings about him came out during the WW II years. blockhead 09-27-2006, 05:02 PM He's not undisputed but my vote would go to Nikolay Valuev http://www.peoples.ru/sport/boxer/valuev/valuev_1.jpg he gets mine as well. Dempsey 1919 09-27-2006, 05:19 PM Well, since the title is champion who defended at least one time, then it has to be valeuv. K-DOGG 09-28-2006, 10:52 AM The worst heavyweight champ? Agreed on all points; but I believe the thread-starter wanted a Champion who successfully defended his title at least once, which would disqualify Neon Leon. Kid Achilles 09-28-2006, 11:10 PM I'm pretty sure the thread is talking about undisputed world heavyweight champions, otherwise you allow guys like Seldon and Berbick into the mix. Valuev is still pretty untested IMO, though just from his size and what I've seen of his style I can envision him battering a smaller Leon Spinks around, who wouldn't have the firepower at heavyweight to bother him. I have a feeling Valuev will go down as one of the better giants in heavyweight history. For one, the guy can actually hit, unlike Carnera, and he can take a punch from what I've seen which sets him apart from guys of the Michael Grant mold. In three years time, I think Valuev's standing in the heavyweight picture will have gone up tremendously. He won't be looked at as a paper belt holder any more than the other guys. Right now he is still a work in progress for one thing and isn't even the unified champion for another so I don't think he's fair game for this thread. boxeo101 09-29-2006, 02:27 AM I vote for john ruiz that guy sucked 2 watch but what a lucky bastard |
