MickyHatton 09-29-2006, 05:11 AM I learnt to drive in the desert in Gulf War 1, I was 18 and no-one was bothered about licences and I drove round in a 4 tonne Bedford truck, when I came home I took two 1 hour 'road' lessens and passed my test. Six months later I took my Class 1 HGV and passed! (in the Army you do not have to be 21) Seems easy but I would say it was as much about luck and the right examiner as much as it was about me being a good driver! My daughter took 6 tests and about 100 lessens! I would not get into a car with her even now a couple of years later on! AJ53 10-12-2006, 10:48 AM took me about 40 lessons to pass my car test on my fouth attempt, but only took me 8 lessons and 1 test to pass my hgv class 2. i totally agree with mickyhatton about luck and examiner tho my first examiner was a total twat and by sheer luck of the gods i got the same man second time round. third time i pulled out infront of a bus and the examiner nearly **** himself so i had a sneaky feeling that i had failed that one. gonna do my class 1 next year unless them damn speed cameras dont get my license first.
