This already had been a rumor some weeks ago. I posted once that it would be either Corley or Branco for Cotto.

I'm reading it's two days later:

That would make it a Monday, though.

Masyweather is ablown up jr Lightweight, Cotto will come into the ring 150lbs+.

Mayweather is not a puncher either he's a slick boxer.

no he didn't

come on now.

He caught Floyd like 1 time and Floyd was fine and back to kicking his ass 10 seconds later.

I wonder if Chop Chop knows that he's the guinea pig for young/new fighters at 140 to beat on? Cotto stops Corley inside of 9.

I stand by that statement. Surely, someone else agrees with me. It's my main concern for Floyd at 140 - he ate some glove from a B-level dude. Floyd tears up 135; a stronger puncher would have knocked Mayweather down that night.

Yeah Mayweather was buzzed but nothing serious. Cotto will beat Corley and stop him in 10.

I'm thinking the fight will end in a KO however I wonder if Cotto might be better off looking to get the KO from body work instead of up top.

Dammit. This sucks. I hate waiting for ****. It's bad enough that there are no big fights till next month, and now I'm hearing I have to wait until at least December to see Cotto and Corrales? I shouldn't have gotten online tonight.

this is crap...i mean he's turning into hatton..(fighting leftovers)..come on..why didnt he go for a floyd fight..i am sure e wouldnt have been turned down (seeing as hoe PBF has been wanting a big pay day)...either way there were better fighters out there then corley...and this might be on the vitali undercard huh

It's said that, "You don't hurry the great ones". Cotto's camp may be sticking to that; Miguel has only 21 (?) fights to his name; may be they want to rack up a few more wins before he gets to the big time and face Mayweather.

But a Cotto-Chop Chop meeting is not all that bad, especially if Courley puts up his women's underwear at stake!!! If, or after, he wins, Cotto can then bring the panties into the ring in all his future fights-- much in the manner that many headhunters bring the heads (shrunk down to near-miniature by some process that mystifies me) they had cut off to their next war. :D

That would liven up procceedings if Cotto meets some patsy after Courley. :D

But then, Miguel doesn't appear to me as the type to do that. :(

Just a suggestion, though. ;)

every time cotto fights, he is stepping up in competition, the kid has what barely 20 fights? let him develop before you put him in against mayweather, but he is ridiculously promising

I believe he only needs 2-3 more fights before he takes on a Mayweather caliber fighter. It's not like Mayweather is going to ruin his career if he beats him. Mayweather won't beat the fight out of him like Trinidad did Reid or Chavez did Taylor.

okay good point..but remember this is welterweight we are talking about not middleweight...at this weight become the best and as soon as possible before fighters move up...fighter in this weight move up all the time and big money fights wont be around always..and just because you may lose doesnt mean the end..look at gatti has lost 6 times..but when u think gatti u dont think 6 loses..u think heart and excitment..and he's champ...so i think it will be a good fight..but think the kid should take advantage of good fights with great pay..while there still are some

i would kill to see him fight hatton. I dont like him, simply because of how he is so over protected. he is a decent fighter.

I got Cotto KO10. Cotto is too big a puncher, too skilled, and his left hooks will hurt Corley, as Corley tends to move exclusively to his right.

Every fighter who's lost at least one bout is someone's leftovers. Do you expect him only to fight undefeated fighters? That's almost impossible.

As for why he's not fighting PBF, that is the same reason PBF is not fighting Gatti: Mayweather is having promotional and managerial problems. I'm not saying that Cotto would've tried to sign that fight, but it's a moot point since PBF won't be fighting for a while. That's why Gatti was allowed to sign for Leija (another gatekeeper at 140) and not his mandatory (PBF).

Cotto fights a southpaw for the first time (to my knoledge) so we'll see how he does. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that fact about Corley. Chop-Chop gets chopped in 9, mark my words.

As far as his fight with Mayweather, everyone says he tagged PBF once and it hurt him but I don't remember seeing him hurt by the punch, just stunned a bit. People make it out to be worse than I think it was.

This should be an exciting fight and it's a step up in class for Cotto. He is a legitimate 140 pounder and ranked in the top 15 (he was ranked 10 when he fought PBF). I hope he gets a shot a Ricky right after.
