I would have to say UFC49-UFC59 were some of the best cards produced..

For pride it was deffinatly 2005 with teh MW/LW/WW GP's all in one year.. Now tell me who the better org is..

The UFC started a little over a decade but NHB competition has been around for a long time.

MMA as defined by mainstream/TV coverage is what i think he was getting at to begin with

Well here in America it started in the 90's. Other countries have had TV coverage of NHB fights such as Vale Tudo, Shooto and Pancrase.

Too much marketing has interfered with the essence of MMA. Most people, including myself, were attracted to MMA because of the rawness. These days it seems that MMA is produced. I think the 90's UFC were great. Pride seems to still retain some of its essence while WEC and the smaller organizations are truly hardcore.

I agree with the guy above.. Alot of things i see in the UFC really doesn't make sense to me inspiring me to ththink that dana white may be pulling strings behind the scense..
Example: chuck vs randy, babalu and tito.. Why did neither of these guys shoot in for a takedown?? Couture did once, but if we look back at tito vs couture, the majority fo the fight was fought on the ground..

Just doesn't make sense to me why a BJJ expert would stand and trade with a well=-known kickboxer with heavy hands.

In america...

Vale Tudo (aka mma , only with less rules)...has been around even before the 50's...Just follow Helio Gracie's or Kimura's career...these guys were mixing judo and BJJ before everyone else.

The UFC made it more accessible and popular in the US.

Anyway, I don't like the ufc.
I'd rather watch Shooto or Pride fc anyday.

Never knew you guys thought your own stupidity was funny..
Anyhow if you can't put 2n2 together I was referring to decade according to UFC events.. Hence UFC49-59. Now that you have the explanation what do you guys think??
