abdiel2k3 10-08-2004, 12:23 PM the referee that just plain seemed to dislike emanuel agustus against courtney burton
he just complete favored burton
when emanual himself did a sort of spin
he took a point from him
but not for him spinning but he clained that he spun Burton around
even if that was the case there had been no proir warning
and he didnt try to hit him while he spun
just plain wrong
abdiel2k3 10-08-2004, 12:27 PM o and some one had put a fight clip of a fight with glen johnson the guy that just beat roy
he was fighten some sort of undefeated guy in germany and was giving him an ass whoopen
i mean droppen and bombin on him
looked like he didnt even want to continue
but the ref kept giving him long counts
im sure had he made it up
they still would have given him a "gift" decsion

Lewis vs Holyfield 1
Lewis makes Holyfield look like a fool all night long. The fight isn't even close I had Lewis winning 10-2 on my card. and they come up with that bull**** draw. Made me want to throw up.
What made it worst was the fact that it was for The Undisputed Heavyweight Chmapionship of the World, In Madison Sqaure Garden and had the entire sports world focussing on it that night. Then this happens and every looks and say's See I told you so about Boxing. What a black eye for the sport.
jabsRstiff 10-08-2004, 12:38 PM If people would just open their eyes...
they should be outraged by the fact they put out around $60.00....just to watch an athlete, making 30 million, flop on the floor from a lovetap.....& roll around like it was Joe Frazier's left hook that landed in his ribs.
elveiel 10-08-2004, 01:21 PM I have never seen anything as bad a Robin Reid v Sven Ottke!!!!
That was the biggest joke i have ever seen, Reid constantly got warned for punching Ottke!! I cant remember but i'm pretty certain Reid got points taken off for punching(legal) and Ottke won the fight.
Ottke is the biggest ***** to step into a ring and i ****ing hate him!

what did they claim was wrong with how he was punching?
was he punching to hard, clean, quick, or illegal?

I agree completely.

i totally agree, how many fights did ottke win with the help of the referee or judges.
the reid fight was without doubt the worst i've seen coz the ref was actually warning reid for outboxing ottke to the point that reid was actually scared to hit him without getting disqualified.

You have to watch the fight to believe it! perfectly legal blows, they were clean but not too hard or quick. when Reid tried to open up the ref would warn him!! Ottke kept complaining when he knew the shots were fine!
The ref would have a heart attack if he was doing the Mayorga vs tito fight. :D
I'd bet my house on it being a fix!

What fights left you gobsmacked by the level of corruption or plain 'ol DUMBNESS!!???
Judges decisions:
Nelson Dieppa vs. Ulises Solis - One judge scored it 114-114; the other two a 120-108 shutout!
Rico Hoye vs. Montell Griffin - Griffin won 10 or 11 rounds of the 12 and lost a decision. ShoBox announcers were disgusted at the decision.
Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfied I - that woman judge shouldn't be allowed to watch boxing on TV, let alone judge a fight.
Chris Byrd vs. Fres Oquendo - Fres dominated the fight. Byrd, the pitterpatter fighter, knowing he was getting whipped, starting to swing for the fences the last 2 rounds looking for a KO. The judges all gave the win to Byrd and one judge had it 117-111. Why would a guy up by four rounds who isn't a power puncher be going for a KO?
Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Sturm, Lamon Brewster vs. Kali Meehan - there have been numerous accounts of who thought who won each fight. On these boards, people have taken up for DLH - but it's hard to deny that if you take into account the 11 rounds on the judges' cards in that fight had DLH up by just one point - and the fact that Sturm very easily won Round 12, something was up. Same thing with the Brewster fight. Meehan had Brewster in serious trouble in the 12th- Lamon gets the round on all 3 cards (or at least the 2 where Lamon got the nod I can't remember), and wins 113-114, 114-113, 115-113. You give Meehan the round he deserved and its 113-115, 113-114, 114-114. Majority decision Meehan, and we don't have to watch another Brewster "title fight"
Bad acting jobs:
Cliff Etienne vs. Mike Tyson - OK, Cliff got hit by a legitimate knockdown punch, but hitting the canvas, taking out your mouthpiece, and then closing your eyes like you're dead, more than illustrates a guy who had no intention of competing that night, 90 seconds into the fight. Then the guy who just knocked him into a coma picks him up and hugs him and whispers something in his ear, all just hours after the fight was in jeopardy.
Refereeing:
Rocky Juarez vs. Zahir Raheem - the ref kept warning Raheem about punches that appeared legal, even to the HBO commentators. He also got into a screaming match with Raheem's corner and manually took excess vaseline off Raheem's face, which is illegal. Raheem had to fight 2 guys that night and almost pulled it off, though in the later rounds his frustration with the crooked ref took its toll and he lost on the cards. Had that not occurred, and had Raheem not lost 3 BOGUS POINT DEDUCTIONS, he probably would have won the fight. The 3 points alone would have put him ahead on one card and within a point on another...

i agree with you, but that Juarez/Raheem fight, Raheem did keep on grabbing behind Juarez' head, and it was pissing ME off and i dont care for either of those guys. You just cant keep on grabbing someone behind the head.
BiggestBoxingFanEver 10-08-2004, 03:34 PM Worst Judges - Lewis Vs Holyfield 1
Worst Ref call - In 1990 Meldrick Taylor was beating Chavez the until the later rounds. Richard Steel stopped the fight with 2 seconds left. If Steele would have would have let it go, Taylor would have easily got the decision.
Hurlex 10-08-2004, 04:15 PM i agree he wasnt grabbing him behind the head..there a difference between grabbing somone behind the head and hitting him..and ur opponent being shorter and when he comes in you placing ur hands up high and when he comes in..it makes ur hands go ontop or behind his head..but zahir was never doing it on purpose..that pissed me off he got pissed also..and he lost which sucks..
Hurlex 10-08-2004, 04:16 PM i dont think the chavez fight counts..cuz that is the most controversial stops ever..only 5 seconds left to go..but then again the rule book said no matter how much time is left..if the fighter is out-you have to stp the fight..so lets not go into that one or we'll be here all day
TheFairPole 10-08-2004, 04:37 PM The decision in the rematch between Holy and Lennox was just as bad as the first fight!!! Can you say make up call!!!

im going to watch it again, but i remember being pissed about raheem holding juarez's head. watch it again, you may see it differently, or not.
Donīt wonder about Ottke, like I have say earlier:In germany boxer whos both hands are amputated can win only by standing full rounds.Richard Steele is other funny guy,I can imagine him stopping fight even before both fighters have step inside ring.

I have not respect for Germans in general! as a nation there are the most boring, big headed and rude people ever!!
I went to Germany as a kid and gangs of blokes would give me **** for being English. You would have to be a dumb ass prick to pick on a boy, lucky enough for me a was a cheeky ****er who could out run them!! :D
Bubba Chunday 10-08-2004, 08:48 PM RedRaw, nice name. Everyone here has unusual names. And as for the question, i think watching Roy Jones on the canvas and really in need the doctor, the referee was really bad to continue counting to ten. IMO
Ottke can retire as champ, but he'll never be in Canastota.

I thought the same thing. I was like "He's ****in' hurt man, wheres the ring doc?!"
Dr.Depravity 10-09-2004, 02:15 AM One of the biggest jokes of a fight Ive ever seen, I believe it was Wayne Btaithwaite in rome. The judge kept letting the other guy take mini breaks in the ring. The guy would get tired of fighting and turn and walk away. And when Wayne went to go hit him, the ref would step in and stop him. It was unreal.

That fight was a godamn joke. Thats why Americans dont want to go overseas to fight cause they never get a fair shake.
The guys name was Vincenzo Cantatore and he would just stop and talk to the ref and just walk away with his hands down and what not and the ref would let him do whtever he wanted and always get in Wayne's face.
