View Full Version : The Fabulous Five
Exciterx24 10-07-2004, 11:26 PM There has always been a connection between Hearns,Leonard,Duran,
Hagler, and Benítez. Who do yu think was the most complete? Who do you think was the best? My personal favorite is Tommy Hearns.
Insane KO power, awesome jab,and great boxing skill. He Koed Duran
at 154,was winning against Leonard the first time until the TKO and beat him the second time(although the fix prevented him from getting an official W),gave one of the greatest brawls ever when he fought Hagler, and got a decision against Benítez.
That does it for me!
The Fix 10-08-2004, 12:36 AM out of the five i'd rank them pound for pound like this: Duran
Leonard
hagler
hearns
benitez
My ranking would look like thefix's.
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 10-08-2004, 01:35 AM Roberto "Manitas de Piedra" Duran
Sir_Jose 10-08-2004, 02:25 AM If im ranking them all in there prime it would be

2. Hagler
3. Leonard
4. Hearns
5. Benitez

Duran was at his best at 135.
He caught Hagler at the end and its still up for debate weather or not Ray won.
puppy_dogg 10-08-2004, 04:01 AM lets not start all that again, the fact is he won, he beat benitez as well, he is the only one to have victories over every fighter here.

Duran, though at his best at 135, also has a victory over Leonard and Hearns should have one too, but doesn't. You could argue over Leonard-Hagler for months.
puppy_dogg 10-08-2004, 04:10 AM what the hell are you talking about? duran got ****ed up against hearns.
Dark Destroyer 10-08-2004, 04:24 AM Sugar Ray Leonard was the most complete in my opinion and thats purely because he beat all of the others mentioned. Leonard wasn’t my favourite after the Hagler fight but i guess only the judges can be blamed. I think they were all special in their own ways. I know them as the fabulous four though with Leonard, Hagler, Hearns and Duran. These guys were something very special indeed and the amazing thing is that they were all part of the same era. I wonder how long each of them would have ruled as champions if they would have been around in an era on their own without the other three?

Lets not start what? you asked why he wasn't #1 and I told you.
Its a fact Duran was at his best at 135 and even past his best he still beat Leonard in the first fight.
Hagler was at the tail end of his of his long riegn at the top. The thing that inspired Leonard to fight Hagler was Hagler's struggles with Mugabi. Like I said its still up for debate as to who won this fight its maybe the most contraversial fight in the history of boxing. Find me 10 boxing fans and ask them who won and 5 will say Leonard and 5 will say Hagler.
Leonard was losing the Hearns fight until he caught him at the. Dont forget Hearns handed him an ass whoopin in the rematch. Even Ray admits he didn't deserve a draw.
This is why he is behind Duran and Hagler p4p.
what the hell are you talking about? duran got ****ed up against hearns.
I never said anything like that. What i was implying was that Hearns should have one victory over Leonard as well.
