Hey. I have been sparring a couple times in the last few weeks and twice on two different occasions i got hit with a liver shot and i got the wind knocked out of me and completley froze up. Both times I had to stop just because i couldn't even fight after that. Does anyone have any tips about how to revover from something like this or any measures to prevent it or at least weaken the effects. Thanks

No, you can't recover during a fight. And you can't train the muscle in that area. All you can do it hit back. :)

if you ever fight on dont show the pain it gives the other boxer an advantage to come at you and throw everythin he has to win. if you show no pain most of the time he will try to throw it again so expect him to throw one if not straight away then later and counter it. i no a bit from experience mate and yes they hurt like a ***** :)

The liver is a bad place to get nailed, just like the kidneys. Best defense for this is building the upper-abdominals around the organ and strengthening the obliques. However, MOST importantly is learning how to take the punch. Exhaling and tightening the muscles around the area absorb impact, so doing this at the appropriate time could help you out.

Getting hit in the liver more than a few times in a fight isn't going to happen unless you have 2 different experienced fighters.

You can do as many sit ups as you want but if he hits youin the right spot it is still going to hurt. The best thing to do is learn to block it. You just sort of adjust you elbow tocover the spot where the guy is going to hit you. Its easier ifyou get your coach to show you how to block it but if you do it right sometimes the guy ends up hitting your elbow and hurting his fist.

try to block it with ur elbows in tight or try a wedge block if u get the opportunity. if you use the block correctly he should get a bruise on the inside of his elbow and it will hurt like a *****.
