View Full Version : Whats The Story With Dr. Dre? Truth 08-22-2006, 08:02 PM Some people say he never wrote or produced his music, I've heard this from alot of people online. Smokin' 08-22-2006, 08:04 PM Royce Da 5'9 and Jay write all his ****...Listen to Still D.R.E. and tell me that aint something Jay would write. And he's overrated as hell as a producer. There's a lot of guys behind the scenes that do keys and **** that never get the respect. Also notice everybody says how 2001 was produced by Dr.Dre but it was produced by Mel-Man too. I've never heard Mel-Man get credit for that either... mic573 08-22-2006, 09:41 PM I've never heard Mel-Man get credit for that either... That's why he and every other producer at Aftermath left. I remember reading about it in Murder Dog. Smokin' 08-22-2006, 09:42 PM What else you know about it?? sisforshaq 08-23-2006, 01:19 AM Dre is a performer, He doesnt write his own lyrics. He has ghost writers, who show him verses, he changes a word or two and raps the ****. He's always done that. I dont think he is overrated, I think he has a formula that is succesful. He gets the best (Storch for Keys) to help him, they worked like a band. Banged out tracks all day Storch said. He has a great ear for music and sound and is killer with his drum loops. He is a dope producer but I wouldnt put him as the best to ever do it... A guy that doesn't write his own lyrics nor do his beats is still called a musician and producer? AND is still respected? Most people that respect him aren't aware of what's the "real deal." That's like someone writing a novel and I edit the punctuation and pass it off as my work. If I would have done that **** it college they would have kicked my ass out. Thizzin Boxing Mexican 08-23-2006, 04:07 AM the d.o.c. is also knwn to ghostwrite 4 dre peep this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_d.o.c sisforshaq 08-23-2006, 01:15 PM ^^^^ If this isn't spin, then I have never seen someone spin **** before. He does produce his own ****, he just uses other people on certain tracks to help out with some parts. MetalVomit 08-23-2006, 02:02 PM He does produce his own ****, he just uses other people on certain tracks to help out with some parts. Exactly, I doubt Dre's made it from the mid 80's to now as a complete fraud. sisforshaq 08-23-2006, 02:22 PM Exactly, I doubt Dre's made it from the mid 80's to now as a complete fraud. Which Im sure a lot of producers due behind closed doors on some beats. Its just easy to flame a big name guy like Dre. mic573 08-23-2006, 06:53 PM Exactly, I doubt Dre's made it from the mid 80's to now as a complete fraud. I wouldn't say he's a fraud but I will say that some producers don't get credit for tracks that they made. Daz has said he made several tracks on The Chronic but received very little to no credit for them. neils7147933 08-23-2006, 10:29 PM I wouldn't say he's a fraud but I will say that some producers don't get credit for tracks that they made. Daz has said he made several tracks on The Chronic but received very little to no credit for them. J. Flex too... Dre, regardless of the contributions he gets from other folks, is still one of the best figures in hip-hop. BLOODSHED 08-25-2006, 01:44 AM He was the first studio gangster. Does that tell you something? And Suge did say he was known around Death Row for bringing some tranvestites back from clubs. And Suge did say he was known around Death Row for bringing some tranvestites back from clubs. Suge also said he got shot in the head during the 2pac shooting. Which was proven not to be true. |
