Ok, with the inclusion of myself, a lot of people lately have been looking for a "newbie" type of workout. Well I went down to my apartment complex's weightroom today and did just that. An all-around newbie workout. Simple and effective. Here it is.

20 minutes stationary bike, endurance program.
2 sets of:
- Uppercuts
- Jabs
- Crosses
- Hooks
*from orthodox and southpaw, dumbell weighted. (SLOW punch)
- Dumbell oblique twists (2 sets of 30)
- Dumbell oblique leans (3 sets of 12)
- Strap shrugs (3 sets of 11)

Thats all I did today, because I ran, skipped, and did crunches/pushups yesterday. When I do that routine again, I'll add it to this post. Any questions, comments, or additions, you guys feel free to add.

You should add some unweighted punching after the weighted punches. And I wouldn't go slow on them. I'd just grad 2-4 lb. dumbells and punch normally. Going slow isn't good for snapping punches.

Yea, I did a little shadowboxing between sets. I realize now that boxers have to have hellishly good shoulders, because I'm sore already. hehe. Sucks.

Yeah, before I ever boxed, I under estimated pro boxers going 10-15 rounds. I'm out of breath with cramps after only 3 rounds not even going all out since it's sparring. I give so much more repsect to boxers ever since I started boxing.

Heavybag training is alot easier than sparring. For me, 10 rounds of heavybag work is like doing 3 rounds of sparring.

no doubt, i remember the first time i sparred, all I did was move and throw some hard jabs and after that 2nd round I felt so completely out of gas. i laid down in front of this huge fan in the basketball gym just gasping, i was fatter then though, like 265...down to around 255 this week, been doing alot of running, particularly right before I goto sleep, ive found goin on hard runs really melts the fat off of you if you come home and dont eat & go straight to sleep...Works like a charm especially if you do that night run with a sweater in a humid climate

Nice job on the weight loss bro!

On a heavybag, I can throw round after round of strong hooks, rights, double-triple jabs, etc. but sparring, I only focus on mainly jabs, some rights, and only left hooks when I feel like it's worth it which is about 10% of the time.
