View Full Version : Breakfast before or after running?
In The Heart 08-16-2006, 01:55 PM I have been on so many athlete websites and they all say eat breakfast before you go running in the morning, but i,ve seen some guys on this forum saying eat breakfast after your run. I,m confused and i need to know which is better. Thanks.
Smokin' 08-16-2006, 02:04 PM Honestly...I'd say it really doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is...you're actually going out to run.
For boxers I assume you would eat after so you lose weight easier but I'm not sure. Don't quote me on it.
jerzeboye 08-16-2006, 02:21 PM I myself always run before breakfast. I tried eating first a couple times but it made me sluggish and gave me stomach cramps. My advice would be to try both and see what works for you. But i do feel strongly about you burning more fat without eating i was 20 pds overweight and it just seemed to melt off, but i also do a little weight traing and speed bag and heavybag work 5 times a week
In The Heart 08-16-2006, 02:47 PM Thanks guys.
i3raintwo 08-16-2006, 02:57 PM i dont know if its true but ive had a bunch of people tell me that if you run before breakfast you burn like 3x more calories. but who knows? i always run before because i have the same problem with feeling sluggish.
NJFighter91 08-17-2006, 12:17 AM The fact that you do it is good enough. But I personally don't drink or eat before running because it makes me throw up. After the exercise, having a full meal is good.

maxorido 08-17-2006, 12:55 AM doing cardio in the morning with an empty stomach is a ***** for me. i would eat somthing small like a bannana and chill for an hour for digestion, then head out.

whatitdo 08-17-2006, 01:25 AM I agree running first then breakfast is the way to go! the only thing is that i get sleepy after I eat then I feel all sluggish too..but eating before running is a definate NOT youll feel too full when u run before eating u sweat more and burn more calories.
warriorsingh84' 08-17-2006, 01:32 AM don't you burn muscle though if you run in the morning on an empty stomach?? also what if you run at noon, does it matter whether or not you eat lunch before you go out for a run?
NJFighter91 08-17-2006, 02:02 PM and i still answered. caloriesBut if you don't eat anything, where do those calories come from?

Famoso Matador 08-17-2006, 02:27 PM When i wrestled in highschool i was told that it is better to run in the morning because it sped up your metabilism through out the day, so you would burn more calories than you usually would.
