View Full Version : College fantasy football
BBKing 08-11-2006, 01:58 PM I have never played college fantasy football or basketball but I have buddies who have and they love it.
Is there any interest in joing a college fantasy football league?
If so i will set it up.
I need between 7-11 people besides myself.
Syd Barrett 08-11-2006, 03:56 PM This is an awesome idea!!
Come on pbds, old gringo, The Fix, Neils, etc.
Step up bitches.
.....I will be down as long as you make it the easy/lazy kind of league.
Pac_Man = God 08-11-2006, 04:00 PM Ill do it. Is it free?
BBKing 08-11-2006, 04:12 PM Yes it is free.
I will set up the easiest league I can.
Like I said I've never doenthis before but i think it will be a lot of fun.
I thought we'd use this league if no one has any objections.

Pac_Man = God 08-11-2006, 10:21 PM Why cant we just use yahoo's shit??
Im in an nfl league in yahoo. Anyone want to start one of those with me?
Syd Barrett 08-11-2006, 11:10 PM Why cant we just use yahoo's shit??
Yahoo has college football pick em, which would be cool too, but they don't have college fantasy football.

What do you mean?
Pac_Man = God 08-11-2006, 11:19 PM What do you mean?
Its just an nfl fantasy football, not college.
badblood 08-11-2006, 11:21 PM Yahoo has college football pick em, which would be cool too, but they don't have college fantasy football.
I have only played pick em. Is there another type of game??
Syd Barrett 08-11-2006, 11:23 PM I have only played pick em. Is there another type of game??Yeah, it's fantasy football where we pick teams from college football players. I think you can do all div. 1-A teams or just include certain confeences.
I think it would be pretty cool.

We've already got one going. Actually there are 2. One set up by 7001 and 1 from 2nd II none I think.
badblood 08-11-2006, 11:26 PM I dont know why 7001 wont fill up the league? There is room for 3 more and he wont fill them.
I dont know why 7001 wont fill up the league? There is room for 3 more and he wont fill them.
It's full. PBDS hasn't signed in yet and a couple of others. How many goddamn times do I have to say it. There is a waiting list for a couple of people.
BBKing 08-13-2006, 06:10 PM I just set up the league.
The draft will be live at 10:00 pm EST on Sunday Aug. 20th.
It will include players from the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big Twelve, Pac Ten, Big East, Conference USA and Independents.
So far we have Sonny, pbds, pac man = god. Are you guys in 7001 and badblood?
There is still room for a few more. If you are interested sign up here or pm me.
BBKing 08-17-2006, 07:06 PM Remember peeps, the live draft is this SUNDAY the 20th at 10:00 pm. If you can't be there for the draft you can rank your players beforehand.
Syd Barrett 08-18-2006, 08:37 PM I looked at a couple of preseason college football publications but I disagreed with them so I didn't think they'd be all that helpfull for the draft. Anyone else buy one? If so what did you think?
BBKing 08-20-2006, 01:13 PM Ok the league is all set to go.
Our live draft is at 10:00 pm this evening.
If you can not make it you can preset you player rankings and the auto draft feature will kick in.
The league members are Old Gringo, TitoFan83, sonny, pbds, badblood, pacman = god, the fix, and 7001.
My apologies to those who wanted to play but did not get in. Unfortunately the league only had room for 8 members. 10 player leagues were not an option. :(
Good luck to all and see you this evening.
oldgringo 08-20-2006, 09:55 PM draft tonight...entourage is on dammit.

Lineup Changes
Weekly Lineups
Each week owners have the opportunity to select their starting lineup for the coming week. If an owner doesn't set a lineup before the weekly lineup deadline (explained in the next section), the owner's lineup from the previous week will be used.
Deadline to Change Status
You can change the status of the units on your team (i.e., "active" or "reserve") up to one hour before the first College Football game of the scoring period is scheduled to start. While there are benefits to last minute research, please play it safe and make changes well before the lineup deadline. That's ****ed up! That whole CBS site sucks. It took me until monday night to get my scores right from last week. I'm dumpin' everybody on my team!

:D
The thing about this league is that there are SOOOOO many great waiver options to choose from that if you check the site each week before the games and make apropriat transactions and line up changes, every team in the league should be absolutely stacked.
The Fix 09-09-2006, 03:40 PM did anybody watch duke vs wake forest? great game, wake won it on a blocked kick..
oldgringo 09-09-2006, 09:49 PM sonny and i are going to battle this week. mike hart and adrian peterson turned in monster performances.
Has anybody's scores updated yet? I am still 0 to 0 and all my teams have played.
Well they finally updated the scores and it looks like Sonny, Romocop and I are the only undefeated teams there. I could be wrong. But I think that's it.
oldgringo 09-10-2006, 04:06 PM i dont get how the points are done...mike hart and adrian peterson had HUGE games and they got less points than my opponents running backs, who didn't have nearly the games that my players had.
I don't either. That site is ****ed up.
badblood 09-17-2006, 12:12 PM I dont like this league at all.
Syd Barrett 09-19-2006, 04:17 PM Quit your crying bitches. The points are totally fair and are spelled out clearly. It's the unit that gets points. If you have Michigan's wr's then you get points for all of their stats. Same for rb's, qb's etc.
Hey Badblood, you still owe me 300 mill for the gators destruction of UCF. Pay up.
oldgringo 09-19-2006, 04:41 PM i thought it was individual players. points for the whole "unit" makes it different.
if it were individual (like every other self respecting league), things would be much different right now. well, i think i have too many other important teams to keep up with right now so this league will just have to sit as is.

You were present for the draft gringo, you knew the deal. There are a lot of whiney excuse making bitches out there. I never tok you for one of them. I really don't know what you are crying about. You beat pbds last week. But his rb corps blew yours away. If you paid attention to college football stats you would know that. The Cal bears RB's had 119 Recieving Yards, 3 Rushing TDs, and 204 Rushing Yards. The Golden Gophers rb's had 3 Rushing TDs and 269 Rushing Yards.
You're 2-1 heading into week 4 so don't go pussing out on me.
EDIT: btw, nice win by your wolverines. Just like I predicted - OSU over Texas and Michigan over ND.
Nobody knows college football like me.

yes you're right...me thinking that it was individual players and not liking the league quite so much now makes me a whiney bitch.
i was present for the draft, but thought the league set-up was different than it turned out to be. its an honest mistake...i have too many other leagues to win to care about this one any longer...regardless of my present record. team setups like this are not as fun simple as.
osu over texas was a gimme...they would have beaten them down last year too had smith stayed in the game. michigan is going to shock everyone this year.
badblood 09-21-2006, 05:24 PM This league is cheesy as hell, I thought it was going to be completely different.

baseball championships and football cash leagues > insignificant college league with a funky set-up.
osu had texas beat last year...texas lost their two best players. big ten rules.
Syd Barrett 09-22-2006, 12:07 PM Bitching out on a fantasy league because of a so called "misunderstanding" is a bitch move. End of discussion. Forgive me for thinking better of you. This was the exact thing people were asking people not to do in the ffl. It takes 30 seconds to set your line up each week. College football is the greatest sport in the world and the league is set up the way it is because there are over a hundred division 1-A teams. It doesn't make sense to select individual players when we only have 6-8 members.
Oh and the Big ten ain't shit. Everyone who knows jack about college football knows the SEC is #1.
oldgringo 09-22-2006, 12:31 PM how will i ever face myself in the morning? :(

Enjoy your Nascar "trophy". I'd be embarrassed to even claim such a thing.
I didn't draft my team last year either, but was still able to use what I had, make smart timely trades and waiver pickups and generally kicked your ass. Just like Taylor kicked Hopkins ass. I am currently leading both the ffl and college ffl. Oh and I'm not crying like a bitch because my rb's #'s weren't as high as my opponents.

Bottom line. I kicked your ass in last years ffl. I think I finished 4th out of 12. Well ahead of you. Period. Unlike you I am not making all sorts of excuses about it. You finished ahead of me in one league, I finished ahead of you in one league. And I am now leading you in 2 other leagues. FACT! Winning once means shit. You need to repeat to prove anything. Everytime you have any team or fighter that loses it's the same bullshit excuses song and dance out of you. One day when you grow up you will learn that excuses are like assholes.

Syd Barrett 09-30-2006, 05:28 PM Congratulations to Florida's Ring of Honor electees
Gainesville, FL
University of Florida fans attending Saturday's against Alabama are encouraged to be inside the stadium by 3:20 p.m. for a special ceremony honoring four Gator football legends as part of UF's celebration of 100 years of football. Fans should allow themselves 30 minutes prior to the ceremony to enter the stadium and avoid congestion at the gates.
The names of Gator legends Emmitt Smith, Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel and Jack Youngblood will be unveiled on the Florida Football Ring of Honor in a special pre-game ceremony Saturday. The names, which will be approximately 18-feet wide and five feet high, will be displayed on the North Endzone façade, just below the Sunshine Seat area of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The announcement of the Ring of Honor was made Friday night at the Gator Gala at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Nearly 1,100 members of the Gator Nation celebrated 100 years of Florida football at the event, where it was announced that $6.1 million has been raised for the UF Athletic Endowment Fund from proceeds of the gala and other projects surrounding the centennial celebration.
“We’re ecstatic with the fact that the amount raised at tonight’s gala is the highest amount ever raised at the University of Florida from a single special event,” said Danny Ponce, co-chairman of the Gator Gala. “These funds will have a significant, positive impact on this program for a long, long time.” The Athletic Endowment Fund provides scholarships for current and future Gator student-athletes.
The gala, held at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center, was attended by many former Florida football players and coaches, as well as UF President Bernie Machen, whom addressed the attendees.
“All of you here tonight represent the essence and spirit of the Gator Nation,” said Machen. “Your support of tonight’s event will be felt for many years to come.”
The evening’s festivities carried a “vintage black tie” theme with decorations and memorabilia from different eras of the past 100 years. The main floor of the O’Connell Center featured wall-to-wall carpeting, a canopy and thirty 20-foot Washingtonia Palm trees.
Musical entertainment was provided by Mr. Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band, Big Band Sounds of World War II, Flash Cadillac, and the Brenda Bayne Ensemble.
The night went a long way toward a goal of Stumpy Harris, gala committee member and chair of the capital campaign for UF Athletics. “Once all scholarships are endowed, not only will it secure our future, but it will free up the funds that will allow us to maintain the nation’s best facilities, attract and retain the best coaches and recruit the best and brightest student-athletes,” said Harris.

a lot of the top 10 is overrated. there are about 3-4 teams there who have already proven themselves. osu beat texas and iowa...they're legit. michigan beat notre dame and wisconsin...they're legit. the auburn/florida matchup will show us which one of those teams is for real. fla has the close win over tenn...auburn close win over lsu.
west vagina has a powder puff schedule...they get creamed by anyone else in the top 7.

"I grew up watching Big Ten football but clearly nothing like this," he said. "I've grown to have a huge appreciation for the SEC. There's no football like it."
Jason is 23 and lives in New York. He spends his Saturdays in a football bunker, staring at a bank of monitors televising SEC football.
Yes, Jason is lucky. Jason Horowitz is the host of CBS SportsLine.com's exclusive video programs.
Jason is also impressed. But you knew that.
"I think the SEC is better than it was three or four years ago," he said. "Michigan in this SEC would have at least two conference losses."
Jason will have to deal with Bo and the rest of Wolverine Nation on his own. He does help make a significant point.
No. 5 Florida should be No. 1.
Not right now, but soon.
If, that is, the Gators negotiate their current thrill ride of a schedule.
Hand it to them, that No. 1 ranking, on Oct. 29. That would be the day after Florida beats Georgia to complete one of the more amazing four-game runs in recent SEC history.
Alabama, LSU, at Auburn, Georgia in the Cocktail Party. Combined record of the four at the moment: 17-3. Three of the four are in the top 10. Two of the four are undefeated.
Yeah, we noticed this, too. In that scenario, 'Bama is the "appetizer", already gulped down last week in a 28-13 victory.
LSU comes to Gainesville this week starting a run of three games in four weeks against top 10 opponents (there's a bye week before Georgia on Oct. 28).
Win them all and you can forget Ohio State. No team in the country would have accomplished more. The Gators would deserve to be No. 1.
What that would mean in late October is diminished because it would be late October. But it would be significant in a BCS world (since 1998) where only two SEC schools have played for national championships - Tennessee in 1998 and LSU in 2003.
In 1998, Tennessee faced three AP top 10 SEC teams (at the time the game was played) -- over an eight-week period.
Florida is about to do it over the next four Saturdays. If the rankings hold up, that would be the first time ever the school has faced three consecutive SEC top 10s. Consider that the Gators have never faced three consecutive top 10 opponents of any species in the same month.
The closest they came was 1994 and 1999 when each year the Gators finished with Florida State, the SEC title game and the bowl game. Combined record: 1-4-1.
Have a nice day, Gator Nation.
A couple of stumbles against the upcoming three could doom Florida's season, bring the boo birds down on Chris Leak and at least make things uncomfortable for Urban Meyer.
"We haven't made a big deal out of it," Meyer said.
Fair? Doesn't matter. That's life in the SEC. A series of unfortunate events have congealed in the middle of Florida's schedule. The Gators are one of four SEC programs currently in the top 10. They just happen to be playing the other three in a row.
Those same four teams are Nos. 1 through 4 in the country in scoring defense (Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Florida). LSU is No. 1 in total defense.
Remarkably, Mark Womack hasn't heard a word of protest. Womack, the SEC executive associate commissioner, is responsible for football scheduling. Maybe each coach figures that sooner or later, their time is coming.
"If they can run the schedule they have undefeated, that's quite an accomplishment," Womack said. "They understood what was facing them."
For a while, if any Gator fan cared to check. The conference schedules are prepared five years in advance.
It's called a scheduling "matrix" so, yes, the image of Keanu Reeves dodging bullets fits perfectly. This year the SEC's eight-game conference schedule and four non-conference games fit into a 13-week calendar. Each year, Florida plays all of its SEC East opponents, one designated SEC West rival (LSU) and two other West teams that rotate on the schedule for two years at a time. This year it's Alabama in its second year and Auburn in its first.
Who knew, though, that those teams would all be formidable in 2006 and aligned in a row in a death march? There was a hint in 2002 when this year's schedule was assembled. Georgia won the SEC and Alabama won 10. LSU and Auburn both played in Jan. 1 bowls.
OK, so who knew the SEC might be even better? Steve Spurrier said this week that half the league has the talent to win the SEC. Not so in 1996, when his Gators sliced through the conference schedule by an average of 33 points on their way to a national championship.
"This is ridiculous," Jason said of the current state of the Gators. "It's not fair."
The frustration in SEC Land is that a one- or two-loss team in the conference might be better than an undefeated team from another conference.
And not get a chance to prove it.
Dawg eat Dawg, indeed.
We have already seen (see Auburn in 2004) that even going undefeated isn't a sure thing.
But that is a negative thought in Jason's bunker.
"The football is so crisp," he said. "The coaching is good. The kids just always seem ready to play. I'm very excited for this Saturday."
Jason is not talking about Michigan State-Michigan. Jason's monitors are all tuned to one conference.
Yes, Jason is lucky.

Syd Barrett 12-20-2006, 10:22 PM I've paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I've come through
I am the champion - my friends
And I'll keep on fighting - till the end -
I am the champion -
I am the champion
No time for losers
'Cause I am the champion - of the world -
I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and fortuen and everything that goes with it
-
I thank you all -
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race -
And I ain't gonna lose -
I am the champion - my friends
And I'll keep on fighting - till the end -
I am the champion -
I am the champion
No time for losers
'Cause I am the champion - of the world -
dolphins should have taken the cadillac....
That's why you're last place in the league. :lol1:
