View Full Version : Liverpool FC thread The Raging Bull 08-09-2006, 09:09 AM This is the place for all liverpool fans out there to chat about the club and all the news and rumours that they hear :D MickyHatton 08-09-2006, 12:30 PM The rumour I would like to hear is that we are signing someone like Dirk Kuyt, I still feel we are light up front with Crouch, Bellamy and Fowler simply because I don't see Fowler(as great as he is) as a long term option so I would like another good/great striker in. The word on the street is Kuyt but we need the extra money from the qualifying for the champs league to pave the deal so tonight is critical! The Raging Bull 08-09-2006, 12:45 PM The rumour I would like to hear is that we are signing someone like Dirk Kuyt, I still feel we are light up front with Crouch, Bellamy and Fowler simply because I don't see Fowler(as great as he is) as a long term option so I would like another good/great striker in. The word on the street is Kuyt but we need the extra money from the qualifying for the champs league to pave the deal so tonight is critical! I agree that tonight is critical for our whole season. I would like to see Kuyt but I am wary that he could become an expensive flop (remember Cisse ;) ) but if we sign him he will have all my confidence. What do you think about Traore leaving? I feel that he was a good squad player but as the team advanced, he couldn't. MickyHatton 08-09-2006, 02:21 PM I agree that tonight is critical for our whole season. I would like to see Kuyt but I am wary that he could become an expensive flop (remember Cisse ;) ) but if we sign him he will have all my confidence. What do you think about Traore leaving? I feel that he was a good squad player but as the team advanced, he couldn't. Agreed, Traore was a good squad player but he was limited and tended to make big mistakes at the wrong time, for me his best position was centre back as he was a great tackler, I watched him a couple of seasons ago (when he had a run in the team)from my then season ticket seat which at the bottom left of the Centenary Stand KH and his distribution was awful but he last ditch tackles were superb. Too be honest Liverpool need better players than him all round if we are to challenge Chelsea! The Raging Bull 08-09-2006, 02:34 PM I agree with you totally mate. That is why we have replaced Traore with Aurelio, who is miles better. Cisse with Bellamy and hopefully Morientes with Kuyt. Overall I feel we have the best squad we have ever had in the premier league and it is our time to win it. MickyHatton 08-10-2006, 05:48 AM We were poor last night, OK the Israelites came to defend and catch us on the break but our final passes let us down. Gerrard can obviously play off the striker but....he is obviously better in the middle but who do you drop??? Glad to see the new boys scoring though! The Raging Bull 08-10-2006, 10:02 AM I dont think we were that bad last night. We just weren't creative enough. We passed it around well (most of the time) and had a few decent chances. I agree with you about Gerrard. We have too many class players now :o We cant drop them because they are all valuable. This is my solution: Reina Finnan Carra Hyypia Riise Sissoko Pennant Gerrard(c) Alonso Kewell/Gonazalez Bellamy With this formation, we can play our main players, with sissoko protecting the back four but being able to move forward with Alonso dropping deeper to cover. The full backs will be able to get forward to help the wingers to provide crosses for Bellamy. Bellamy will thrive off the balls from Alonso and Gerrard so I feel he can play this formation. For the left wing, I would pick whoever is on form between Kewell and Gonzalez. The Raging Bull 10-22-2006, 10:49 AM We've been poor today against United. I just hope we can pick our away form up again or we will end up like we were two seasons ago. In fifth place. platinummatt! 10-22-2006, 10:59 AM I find liverpool annoying because all the girls support it lol. Of course Its ok if you live there lol so Im not cussing you MickyHatton 10-22-2006, 11:02 AM Gutted, dont mind losing if we go out on our shield but to lose like that......something is not right at Anfield this season! The Raging Bull 10-22-2006, 11:09 AM Gutted, dont mind losing if we go out on our shield but to lose like that......something is not right at Anfield this season! The side just has no character. I am afraid that maybe we have too many players vying for places and the competition is too intense that it's making people unhappy. But just remember last season. We were beaten soundly 4-1 by Chelsea and 2-0 by Fulham and then went on top break a lot of club records. MickyHatton 10-22-2006, 11:19 AM The side just has no character. I am afraid that maybe we have too many players vying for places and the competition is too intense that it's making people unhappy. But just remember last season. We were beaten soundly 4-1 by Chelsea and 2-0 by Fulham and then went on top break a lot of club records. I hope your right but what worried me today was the lack of fight across the team, they need to stick to a settled side and build up some confidence. We have had a dificult fixture list but that does not excuse the performances, United today deserved the win but they did not play well or even have to try that hard to beat Liverpool which is just not good enough! The Raging Bull 10-22-2006, 12:12 PM I hope your right but what worried me today was the lack of fight across the team, they need to stick to a settled side and build up some confidence. We have had a dificult fixture list but that does not excuse the performances, United today deserved the win but they did not play well or even have to try that hard to beat Liverpool which is just not good enough! I totally agree with you. We are lacking fight and confidence and to get them back, we need to stick with the same team for the next couple of games. The Raging Bull 10-28-2006, 01:24 PM Great performance from the lads today. Giving an unbeaten Villa side a mini-hiding should do our confidence the world of good. Nice to see our strikers playing well and scoring. We just need Gerrard to get his scoring boots on now and we'll be rolling. He's done everything but put the ball in the back of the net. Nice to see our strikers playing well and scoring. We just need Gerrard to get his scoring boots on now and we'll be rolling. He's done everything but put the ball in the back of the net. Yeah, I have just got back from the game, we looked much stronger today but its not the home form thats been the problem, great to see Alonso playing well and the goals going in! Onwards and upwards! The Raging Bull 10-28-2006, 05:52 PM Yeah, I have just got back from the game, we looked much stronger today but its not the home form thats been the problem, great to see Alonso playing well and the goals going in! Onwards and upwards! We controlled the game and were incisive in our attacking, but we have played like that all season at home so I just hope people don't read TOO much into it and expect us to be thrashing every team we play. Yep, the positives were Kuyt, Crouch and Alonso. We have had a tough fixture list so far, we have two more home games coming up so.....lets gets some points on the board! MickyHatton 10-31-2006, 05:41 PM Great result tonight, through to the last 16 of the champions league and Stevie G got a goal, things at last are looking up! The Raging Bull 10-31-2006, 06:07 PM Great result tonight, through to the last 16 of the champions league and Stevie G got a goal, things at last are looking up! Good, confident performance again from the lads. The attacking quartet of Gerrard, Garcia, Kuyt and Crouch are really starting to gel and destroy defences. Great game from Kuyt, my man of the match. Great game from Kuyt, my man of the match. The word on Merseyside is that Stevie G's drop in form is down to his missus Alex Curren shagging an ex gangster boyfriend of hers and going back on to drugs, not sure how true that is but I have heard it now form dozens of different people including many of the lads at the games! The Raging Bull 11-01-2006, 11:44 AM The word on Merseyside is that Stevie G's drop in form is down to his missus Alex Curren shagging an ex gangster boyfriend of hers and going back on to drugs, not sure how true that is but I have heard it now form dozens of different people including many of the lads at the games! I seriously hope not. I really don't want to see Gerrard getting involved in any **** like that. But on the BBC website the other day, it said his baby girl had been rushed into hospital for meningitis symptoms, so it could be that. The Raging Bull 01-28-2007, 10:53 AM This thread died a quiet death so I'll resurrect it. The 4 youngsters we have signed in January look to be top class, especially this young Swedish kid who made his Under 18's debut last week. Oasis_Lad 01-28-2007, 10:56 AM liverpool are probably the best "on form" team in the premier at the moment. i know i have said this before..but **** it: "steven gerrard is the best player in the world" The Raging Bull 01-28-2007, 11:02 AM liverpool are probably the best "on form" team in the premier at the moment. i know i have said this before..but **** it: "steven gerrard is the best player in the world" Celtic are the most in-form team probably in the whole of Britain, on par with United. I remember the good ol' days when Rangers and Celtic were in a war until the end of the season. I remember when Amoruso scored for Rangers to win them the league on the last day of the season before he moved to Blackburn. That's when the SPL was great, even though Rangers were actually winning games. But it's good to see all the Rangers fans at school making excuses now. MickyHatton 01-28-2007, 11:57 AM he's got it all. i feel no shame in calling him: "the best passer of the ball" of all time. I would say he is the most complete midfielder of all time! He can pass the ball any distance, he can score all sorts of goals from tap ins to 30 yard screamers, he can tackle and defend extremely well and physically he is perfect for the centre of midfield as he is tall, strong and extremely quick. Add into that he has a fantastic football brain! I think there have been players who have better individual aspects to their game but has there ever been a player who can match him for all round ability? He just gets better after every season and I just wish FIFA would give him the credit he deserves. Hopefully in years to come people will look at him and say that he was one of the best ever. Have you read his autobiography Micky? Oasis_Lad 01-28-2007, 12:21 PM i'm gonna upload the maradona documentary for you boys. gerrard is in it and he is so humble. he is asked who the best player in the world is and he replies "ronaldinho". come on steven - it is you, **** that overated bucktoothed diva. Especially the Champions League Final part and the Chelsea transfer saga explained! I was surprised about Jason Koumas being a mate of his though, my brother played with Koumas and I didn't realise he was on Liverpools books! Oasis_Lad 01-28-2007, 01:19 PM I agree with that statement mate, outside of his flicks and tricks he hasn't really impressed me, I watch La Liga regularly and think whats all the fuss about! exactly.......all those tricks and flicks may look good in adverts but are useless on the field. That'd be cool, thanks I agree with you about Ronaldinho. When he is on form, he's amazing. But he's very inconsistant and if you're supposedly the greatest player on Earth, you shouldn't be inconsitant at all. Yes mate, just finished it to be honest, superb! I was surprised about Jason Koumas being a mate of his though, my brother played with Koumas and I didn't realise he was on Liverpools books! It was a fantastic read and rivalled Fowlers for entertainment value. I was surprised about Koumas too! And I really hate Lilleshall now because of them rejecting Stevie. How many times did he say he loved Liverpool in it? I lost count. He's a genuine guy and my opinion of him increased ten fold after reading it. The bit about the garden fork in his toe was disgusting too. Thanks God for Steve Heighway! MickyHatton 01-29-2007, 05:16 AM That'd be cool, thanks I agree with you about Ronaldinho. I was in a night club about a year ago and Koumas and his followers came in and sat by my missus and my sister in law. There was a fat lad who at first refused to move out of our seats but was persuaded! He then tried to tell us we were in the presence of a superstar and that Koumas was going to leave West Brom/Cardiff and join Valencia! It was all very weird, he (Koumas) then shook my hand then kissed me on the cheek before ordering a round for my party and leaving??? I hadn't even spoken to the lad so I'm not sure what the **** was going on! To be honest as a kid he didn't look much but the scouts saw something! Strange guy though! BTW we need to splash out on a clinical finisher, thats two great sides we have dominated in a week yet scored no goals!!! I'm hoping for an English side too. And we've been linked with Villa and Eto'o, both of them are clinical finishers and we have Voronin coming so Rafa is trying to sort out the problem. I just hope Eto'o doesn't come because he'll cause unrest in the camp. MickyHatton 03-07-2007, 10:10 AM I'm hoping for an English side too. And we've been linked with Villa and Eto'o, both of them are clinical finishers and we have Voronin coming so Rafa is trying to sort out the problem. I just hope Eto'o doesn't come because he'll cause unrest in the camp. Both great players, the problem with Villa (Strange though it may be) is that he is similar to Rooney, he drops off and is very skillful, we need a poacher like an Owen or Fowler. Eto'o is that sort of player but as you say he may cause unrest! kayjay 03-07-2007, 10:13 AM Eto'o is all wrong. He's not worth it. Likely_Lad 03-07-2007, 01:19 PM Great result last night, good on yer all! Just wish City would pull their finger out, I still want Pierce as manager though! MickyHatton 03-08-2007, 09:43 AM Just thought I would offer my commiserations to Celtic, drawing AC Milan would be a tough draw for anyone! Oh and unlucky to Arsenal (although that might knock the smug look off the fans faces for a week!) MickyHatton 03-09-2007, 12:45 PM Great draw, PSV are a good side but we beat then 2-0 at Anfield this season and drew in Holland so I am confident. I was delighted when I found out, me and everyone in my class thought that we were destined to tie an English team, but it never happened. :D I hope us and Chelsea get through to repeat the semi-final of 2005, and it's possible for us to get Milan in the Final too  Likely_Lad 03-11-2007, 03:08 PM Gutted, I really fancied us for the tie today! H.EastmansBeard 03-14-2007, 05:26 PM I couldn't give a **** if you like Liverpool or not, but if you are going to come on here and refer to Liverpool as 'Victimpool' when for obvious reasons that may be a touchy subject then you have got to except some comeback. I've been around and have never come across the term before hence I asked you to elaborate, as for the karma and rating, well that what its for, isn't it? Is that my problem youve never heard of term? Ive heard it many a time. Aside from the obvious its used in reference to the one rule for one and another rule for pool, whether its the allowing of the club to play in champions league despite finishing outside the qualification spots or the recent Mascherano incident. MickyHatton 03-14-2007, 05:31 PM I've never actually been to liverpool, even though my bird is a sicilian scouser. But Micky, gettin defensive cos someone takes the p*ss out of your home town isn't your style is it? People have my permission to take the mickey out of Wolves all they like! I've heard victimpool before, just refers to the supposed and mostly likely non existent victim mentality of Scousers. OW, people can say what they like about Liverpool, to be honest most of it would probably be true, and as you say its not my style to let it get under my skin. I just asked him to elaborate on 'Victimpool', I hadn't heard it before and neither had others on here from the North West, obviously Hillsborough is a touchy subject where I come from and us scousers will laugh at ourselves and each other but we cannot and will not see the funny side of that! Hence the question. MickyHatton 03-14-2007, 05:34 PM Is that my problem youve never heard of term? Ive heard it many a time. Aside from the obvious its used in reference to the one rule for one and another rule for pool, whether its the allowing of the club to play in champions league despite finishing outside the qualification spots or the recent Mascherano incident. OptimusWolf 04-04-2007, 06:32 AM Congrats to Liverpool on all but making it into the last 4. But c'mon, last night's game was much more about PSV being piss poor than about liverpool's credentials as winners. Arsenal could have won 4-0 at Eindhoven, they just didn't take their chances. I'm still tipping Liverpool to win it. OptimusWolf 04-04-2007, 06:45 AM right now they must be bookies favourites but assuming Chelsea or Man utd get through to the next round I'd take either of them over 'pool. But it would be a close call no doubt. I wasnt taking anything away from the sensational result, but PSV playing like that wouldn't have made it out of the group stage. PSV did not have the firepower in their lineup to score three or four anywhere let alone at Anfield. That's why I wasn't going out of my way for this. I think Liverpool match up very well with Chelsea at the moment; this has been my favorite English matchup since Mourinho and Benitez arrived. I understand the English press considered Man U - Arsenal the better rivalry but the Reds and Chelsea is a better tactical matchup, even if it's not 'exciting' in whatever sense they mean that. The interesting is that there are so many 'big' games these days, the rivalry between Liverpool and Man U is so intense but it a football rivalry as opposed to the focus being about so many other things as for Celtic and Rangers. The top four and their respective regional rivals i.e Liverpool - Everton, Man U - Man City etc mean that their are big games almost every week, even in Europe now with Barca, AC Milan, R Madrid etc due to the success of English sides. kayjay 04-12-2007, 12:30 PM To be honest I don't like these all-England games in European competition. With two domestic cups the English teams face each other often enough. I'd have rather seen Liverpool against Valencia than Chelsea. I've seen like a half dozen Liverpool-Chelsea games in the past two years and obviouisly I haven't seen them all. kayjay 04-14-2007, 05:43 PM Well City are probably the most Yank-friendly club in the Prem so I won't complain too much about this one. The Raging Bull 04-15-2007, 07:32 AM All the players looked pissed at each other yesterday. I dunno why and I hope it's nothing. Kuyt looked pissed at Pennant and Alonso at Mascherano. The Raging Bull 04-15-2007, 02:03 PM Yeah he's not quite the caliber Liverpool need to take it to the next level. But for any other team certainly. You got that right. I think he'd be great at Tottenham. They could then get rid of Zokora who I don't rate. MickyHatton 04-15-2007, 02:08 PM Can you imagine a central midfield of Gerrard, Sissoko, Alonso, Mascherano, Barton and Nolan? Wow. I'm fairly certain Alonso will leave in the summer mate! Real Madrid apparently have submitted a big offer, Alonso has ties with Madrid and I think Rafa would then use Gerrard in his best position and rotate Sissoko and Mascherano around him! I'd be gutted but we have to accommodate too many great Central Midfielders currently, add 12-15 mil to the kitty, you are looking at around 50 mil to spend so....if he does go at least we may get a winger or two and perhaps a world class striker to strengthen the whole squad! The only plus to having Simao is that he can play both wings and up front. We must have a stronger squad, selling Alonso IMO is taking a backward step! OptimusWolf 05-22-2007, 05:46 PM I like Alonso but I seriously think that you don't need him as much as you need wide players and a goalscorer. I am also of the lonely opinion that alonso and Mascherano aren't the best combination for the PL, and Sissoko's style will be v important in your title push next year. Oh yeah, here's to the Liverpool-Wolves link! Hayward is a class act, didn't make the best decisions while he was in charge, but his heart has always been with the club. Kayjay's Ghost 05-22-2007, 05:53 PM I'm with Wolf, and just as important is the fact that you're going to have to play the Brazilian kid. More importantly though, what's the lineup for tomorrow? This Leiva kid looks real good and if Alonso does leave, he best be a good enough replacement. I don't expect it of him straight away but in a year or two. I'm hearing through the grapevine that Zenden may be fit for the final and Rafa wants to utilise his tactical awareness. I'd still go for Kewell as our wild card though. MickyHatton 05-23-2007, 03:36 AM I'm with Wolf, and just as important is the fact that you're going to have to play the Brazilian kid. More importantly though, what's the lineup for tomorrow? Raging Bull and I confessed to each other on pm that we have a perhaps unwarranted affection for Kewell. Tell us you wouldn't play him Mickey. The thing is I would play him, I have always had a soft spot for Harry even when he was at Leeds. Zenden is first choice in that position but up until the last couple of games he has been poor. Harry has the ability on his day to win a game, whether he is fit enough and sharp enough for a game of this magnitude is up for debate but we don't have too many options! MickyHatton 05-23-2007, 03:56 AM I like Alonso but I seriously think that you don't need him as much as you need wide players and a goalscorer.I am also of the lonely opinion that alonso and Mascherano aren't the best combination for the PL, and Sissoko's style will be v important in your title push next year. Your right OW, but to compete with the big boys we must have quality in every position plus quality cover. I feel the best combination based on what I have seen of late will be Macherano and Gerrard in the middle, Sissoko can offer cover for Macherano and Levia plays in the attacking midfield role which then questions Alonso's long term worth to the squad but I just cannot accept us allowing players of Alonso's ability to leave. According to the rumour mill, press and friends I have that work at the club there is to be a big clear out in the summer with Kewell, Hyppia, Dudek, Carson, Bellamy, Fowler, Zenden, Gonzalez and Alonso all on their way out. They hope to raise up to 30 mill with these sales and add it to the already available 40 mill for transfers. The players heavily linked are David Villa, Darren Bent, Simoa, Daniel Alves, Tevez, Pederson, Fernando Torres, Eto'o, Chivu, Distin and many more!!!! I will believe it when I see it! Scheduled to open in 2010, the 60,000 seat stadium has been designed to allow for future expansion which could see the capacity increased to the high seventies dependent on improvements to the local transport infrastructure. The central importance of the Kop has also been recognised with a hugely increased capacity to 18,000 seats in a single tier stand. Steven Gerrard To be honest I knew it was going to be great but after spending five minutes looking at the plans I was just completely blown away by it. It's amazing and the best thing about it, I think, is that it's so different to any other. We will have our own identity stamped all over this stadium and that's how it should be. We are Liverpool Football Club, we expect the best and this will be the best. I've played in some special stadiums but this is something special and it's so important that we are not seen to be copy off another club. The fact that a massive Kop stand will be incorporated into the new stadium is great. As a supporter myself, I know what to look for in a stadium and I'm sure all our fans are going to love it. We all know the level of noise 40,000 Liverpudlians can make at Anfield so I can't even begin to describe what 60,000 plus can do inside the new stadium. It's going to be unbelievable and I can't wait to lead the team out there. The prospect of this was one of the major factors in me signing a long-term deal with the club and I just hope I'm still around when the day comes for us to play our first game in it. I can see him getting 15 -18 this season and moving on from that. As he returned with the squad from Hong Kong on Sunday morning, the Reds chief executive spoke of his satisfaction at the way the summer has evolved in terms of new signings and insisted Liverpool will always be in the market for quality players. "There's always a lot expectation but there's definitely a special buzz about the upcoming season. We're all excited with the new signings we've made and genuinely happy with what we've done," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "It was important to get them in as early as possible so that Rafa could have more time working with them. Bringing players in on the last day of the transfer window is never ideal. It was good for our new players to have been involved in the training camp out in Switzerland and then in Hong Kong. "That doesn't mean to say we'll now be standing still. A lot of clubs have spent significant amounts of money this summer, like Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea. Then there's a number of other clubs who've recently also had new investors, such as Newcastle, and there's still a long way to go before the end of the transfer window. Looks like Rafa still has some cards up his sleeve :fing02: kayjay 09-19-2007, 10:08 AM I'm bringing this thread back, for the moment. Espn did show the Reds yesterday but my current schedule doesn't permit early-afternoon football watching. Did they look like they were losing form? I read an online play-by-play for parts and they made it sound like Porto were dominating play. What gives? MickyHatton 09-19-2007, 01:53 PM I'm bringing this thread back, for the moment. Kayjay, you heard correctly, Porto completely over run Liverpool last night and we were extremely lucky to get away with a point. Torres and Gerrard where not in the game at all and couldn't get with the pace, Pennant should have come off way before the red card and we couldn't string three passes together. Ricardo Quaresma was outstanding and Porto will feel hard done to. The only thing I can say that's semi positive is that if we can get a point playing so badly then we should progress with ease as there is no way we can play any worse! Liverpool to be honest were not at the races. Nice to see you admitting it my friend :biggthump kayjay 09-22-2007, 07:39 PM Kayjay, you heard correctly, Porto completely over run Liverpool last night and we were extremely lucky to get away with a point. This one wasn't on TV here, but the stats say 19 shots for the Reds. Sounds like a game from last year. Fox suddenly is focusing on the teams with American players. I love my boys but I don't need to watch Derby and Fulham every Saturday just b/c they're fielding our guys. Mozza 09-22-2007, 08:29 PM Benitez better buck up his ideas and start giving the Premiership a little more priority and giving some of the teams a little more respect. the giant one 09-22-2007, 11:16 PM I think Benitez is focused more on the Premiership this year personally, but his assinine rotation system will cost them in the long run.Torres needs starts, not sub play. Also losing guys like Alonso, Agger and Sissoko to injuries doesnt help things either. Liverpool always seems to have problems against Birmingham, today proved no different. the giant one 09-22-2007, 11:17 PM also isnt Gerrard playing at basically half fitness right now? I heard on the Porto commentary he was playing injured and it seemed like he was a step slow during that match the giant one 09-22-2007, 11:18 PM last but not least, Sell Jermain Pennant. Useless whiny twat. Wish we had Shawn Wright Phillips who is the same player basically but less of a whiner and someone who can actually cross a ****ing ball into the box somehwat accurately MickyHatton 09-23-2007, 09:27 AM last but not least, Sell Jermain Pennant. Useless whiny twat. Wish we had Shawn Wright Phillips who is the same player basically but less of a whiner and someone who can actually cross a ****ing ball into the box somehwat accurately Cant agree mate, I was at the game yesterday and he was our best player and has been easily one of our best players so far this season. I'm not sure If I can pinpoint why we have lost our form so dramatically but we no snap in our play at the minute. Gerrard does look a yard off the pace and there seems to be no energy throughout the side. Benitez for some reason felt that Voronin and Kuyt would be better suited to a defensive set up but us in the stands could see that we were crying out for an injection of pace and good use of width. Birmingham were comfortable until Torres came on and the pace picked up. Its hard to take anything positive out of this week but you could say that we are still unbeaten and have yet to concede a goal from open play as well as still being in a great position in the league. I would prefer Benitez to play the best team he can on a game to game basis and stop worrying about games next week. kayjay 09-23-2007, 10:11 AM Yeah Mickey the result isn't bad, it's just the lack of scoring that's bothersome; the first few games made it look like those days were over. Four points from Arsenal but they've clearly had the easier schedule so it nearly evens out. KJ, not sure if you will get the highlights from last nights game but there was a vast improvement in our play especially in front of goal. Torres excelled in every department, Reading smashed him from pillar to post but he rode the tackles and was a constant threat scoring his first hat trick. Great game to be fair with a lot of great goals. Chunk 09-26-2007, 08:08 AM Benitez squad rotations will be the downfall of Liverpoo'ls title challenge. Has he ever stuck to the same staring eleven for two games straight? MickyHatton 09-26-2007, 09:12 AM Benitez squad rotations will be the downfall of Liverpoo'ls title challenge. Has he ever stuck to the same staring eleven for two games straight? Once. And you could be right mate. Tuggers1986 09-26-2007, 09:27 AM you boys are coming to "THE FORTRESS" next week!!!!! Don't expect to get out of the JJB alive fella's. My team are going to show you what real men are made of. Wigan 1-0 Liverpool! (I WISH) Lol kayjay 09-26-2007, 10:31 AM KJ, not sure if you will get the highlights from last nights game but there was a vast improvement in our play especially in front of goal. At some point Torres might have to become an every game kind of player, no? I mean you can't rotate him unless the other strikers produce as much MickyHatton 09-26-2007, 10:41 AM Sounds great; no I didn't see it, I rarely see Carling Cup games. I mean you can't rotate him unless the other strikers produce as much Totally agree, if we have aspirations of winning the League then he has to play every game and rest him in the smaller games i.e. in the cup. If I'm honest I had my doubts at first about him, but watching him live a couple of times and on TV several times I am now convinced that he is the greatest striker we have had since Michael Owen or Robbie Fowler at their best. He has pace to burn but more importantly he has that natural ability to read the game and make the correct runs at the correct times, add that against a fine ability to finish and it says it all. We should rotate the other three around him and let them be his work horses, he is that good. BTW Benayoun's goal was the best of the bunch. kayjay 09-26-2007, 12:15 PM I'm just as happy to see Benayoun doing well; I've always liked him. Which of the other three do you think works best with Torres? Mozza 09-26-2007, 01:30 PM Out of interest, what does everyone think Liverpool's best 11 is this season? MickyHatton 09-26-2007, 03:35 PM I'm just as happy to see Benayoun doing well; I've always liked him. Which of the other three do you think works best with Torres? I would say Kuyt mate, they have a great understanding and Kuyt's work rate opens up space for Torres. MickyHatton 09-26-2007, 03:38 PM Out of interest, what does everyone think Liverpool's best 11 is this season? I'd say this Mozza. Reina Riise Agger Carragher Finnan Babel Mascherano Gerrard Pennant Kuyt Torres The only area that needs cementing is left wing, Babel is very young, Kewell is injury prone but Benayoun, Leto and Aurelio/Riise can also play there. |
