Greetings fellow Britishers!

Im new to the forum, a boxing fan from Glasgow. Ive been reading this site for ages now, (though only recently signed up), its a good source of info and also humour, and of course its pleasing to see a healthy British contingent to act as a counterbalance to our blowhard Yankee friends :)

I was wondering if anyone could offer advice about some upcoming fights; In addition to domestic coverage, im a big fan of the live US coverage SKY offers (even though it means sitting up through the night) - recent bouts Ive seen on SKY have been Hatton/Collazo (I really like Hatton, but Collazo was robbed imo - I dont claim to be an expert, just what I thought on the night) and Mosley/Vargas II (pleased Mosley won - Vargas is a MoFo). After missing Baldy/Gatti, due to being away at a Music festival, I was gutted to learn that neither the upcoming Rahman or Toney fights will be on live - I presume its because they are taking place near the US West coast and thus the time difference is too much. So my Q is - what are the chances of these fights being shown as delayed broadcasts? I have seen some Pac-man fights on SKY with the 'delayed' tag, just wondering if either of these bouts might get a screening (esp as they normally repeat the main event of live coverage early next day)????

Also, digressing slightly, I am something of an Alex Arthur fan, but havent seen head nor tail of him in ages now - is he injured or what, or I have just had my head in the sand? Any news gratefully appreciated.

Thanks a lot for reading, hope to make your acquaintance soon.

Cheers

Hey, Welcome to the site, its a great site, but be careful of so called flamers, ( just basically people who will try and insult you ) there are a few but mostly its good. The limey lounge isnt visited quite as much as before although it is still visited.
I you want to talk to people about things other than boxing you can go to the lounge ( as you probably already know ) But the maturity of the thing is limited. For a more mature conversation, go to the members lounges, then to the adults lounge. ( Not as rude as it sounds lol) Of course for boxing you can speak on the boxing lounge.
You can also talk about boxing here on the limey lounge and the adult lounge.
Sorry I cant help you with your question.

Ok. I will immediately disregard anything you have to say about boxing as you seem to think Collazo was robbed. It was a close fight but one that anyone with any knowledge of boxing accepts as a close win for Hatton.

As for Alex Arthur, all I can remember about him is being destroyed in his backyard by Michael Gomez. One of the funniest fights I've seen. I think he's made a few comeback fights. He's signed to Frank Warren I think.

Well, I did add the disclaimer that I didnt claim to be an expert and it was just my opinion on the night. Whats with the attitude? I know Hatton went forward constantly, as is his way, but I felt most of the good blows were coming the other way.

be careful of so called flamers

I see what you mean mate! Id hoped to find a decent place to chat about boxing, meet some fellow fans and learn a bit more about the sport, but it doesnt look like this is the place!

Adios!

This thread should definitely now migrate towards a discussion of the Alex Arthur vs Michael Gomez fight. CLASSIC. Now that was a beating. You could almost hear the gasps and cries from his hometown crowd as Gomez stalked the ring landed endless haymakers to Arthur's hapless, pleading face. Special mention to the ref, who, even though it was apparent that Arthur was dangerously close to being "wheelchaired", let the fight go on and on. And on.

At least Arthur stood up and became a man by endleslly ducking Gomez afterwards, looking especially petrified when Gomez turned up ringside at his fights and trashtalked him.

All this made funnier by the fact that Gomez was a completely untalented fighter who's career ended with no small measure of controversy. Definite Hall of Famer in my book.
