that'd be bad Olympics is a great way for talented amatures to get media n get their faces out there before they start their professional career.

itd be a huge call to take it out. isnt boxing one of only two events that has been in every single olympics? or something like that...

Your going to fight in a national tourny with only 2 bouts under your belt?

I was fighting open when I was at them, I dont recall if they had novice competitions there or not.

If they do not, I would highly recommend holding of for a bit. Your going to run into some sharp ass fighters if your rolling in the open class.

Good luck with your bout coming up though, let us know how you do.

not true

in big tournaments such as ringside world championships

5 fights qualifies you as open

Got a local sizzler -- inter-gym exhibition -- coming up in October and my coach thinks he's found a guy to fight me. I need to take this next month off from boxing (work issues), but I'll still be hitting my weightlifting gym, running, skipping rope, and shadowboxing. I'll hit the boxing gym hard in September and I'll be kicking some major ass in October.

Down to 173, BTW. I'm going to make 168 by the fight. I was 185 when I started boxing in February, and 195 last Christmas (spent a month doing bull**** "boxing fitness" at my weightlifting gym for my New Year's Resolution.)

There's a light heavyweight Master's Division guy at my gym who is itching for his first amateur fight and wants it to be me -- probably so he can be 1-0 :p but also 'cuz I'm the only guy in the city who can fight him due to age & weight. I'd like to do a real Master's Division fight next year against him. He's really good, tho'. He's got big reach -- he's 6'3" I'm 5'9" -- good feet, and a couple years' of experience on me.

Dude, I'm right there with ya. I'm the maintenance lead for a manufacturing plant; we're putting a new roof on my building right now and we are running full-tilt boogie from 8AM - 8 PM. ****ing nightmare. The tar has ****ed up every pair of work pants I own and given me a permanent headache. And it's only been a week.

Unless I can find someone to spar with me at 5 AM -- and convince my coach to open the gym for me at that ungodly hour -- I'm screwed for the next 3-4 weeks. The overtime is nice, though. These next few weeks will pay for a year's worth of dues at my gym. And some new gloves, and a custom mouthguard, and a leather jumprope. . . . :boxing:
