GL: I spoke with Papa Trinidad last night. He eliminated Oscar De La Hoya as an option for Felix Trinidad. He said there are many other fighters more worthy of the shot at Trinidad. I brought up your name and he acknowledged that it would be a big fight, and he said it's a potential fight for them. Cory, how do you feel about Trinidad's comments? "First of all, I want to congratulate Trinidad on his spectacular win last Saturday night. Second of all, I'd like to get a shot at one of the greatest fighters of my era, which is Tito Trinidad. I think he's one of the greatest fighters of my era and I'd love to test my skills against him. He's a hall of famer and I think it would be great to test my skills against someone on his level."

GL: It seems like there's a possibility this fight can come off. A lot of people might look at the fight and say, 'Cory might be biting off more than he could with this one.'

Cory Spinks: "If you go back and check the 1997 National Golden Gloves Champion at welterweight, it was me. I won the gloves in 97 as a welterweight, I've been here a long time. My body is maturing and I'm getting a lot stronger and making welterweight is getting a lot harder. I'll eventually be a junior middleweight anyway. Tito just came in at 157, I'd come in at 155 at the most and do my thang. I think that the chances of Spinks VS Mayweather is more likely then ever seeing Spinks VS Mayorga. For one, I have a sneaking suspicion that Trinidad would make Spinks rise up to at least Jr. Middleweight for this fight- and even Cory would not be so dumb as to play so wonderfully into Tito's hands.

Spinks is a legitimate opponent and a threat to Trinidad, but if it's at 160 I don't see how Cory would win. Maybe they could meet at 154, but Cory's going to have to eat some punches and stay up to stand a chance...

Anyway, Cory should stay at 147 and wait on Mayweather to come up and fight Judah in the meantime.

Now that's what I'm talking about. We'll see how Spinksy runs when he's matched against a powerful, young, composed fighter who cuts off the ring well. Cotto hits him with that crushing left and it's over.

It was a very questionable decision the first time, but I think if they fight at middleweight Tito will win convincingly.

if he signs to fight Tito he should be locked up the way you lock up a person whose insane and a danger to himself. Trinidad at any weight punches holes in Spinks. Spinks almost got his head flown by Judah whose a good puncher but not even in the same universe as Tito. It's not only the difference in punching power but physical strength that makes Trinidad-Spinks a mismatch. I can't see Tito taking the road traveled by Hopkins. that is fighting lightweights and welterweights who move up to solidify his legacy. He has more dignity than that. I hope

Tito - DLH was a draw in my eyes. Only DLH ***ridahs say he won that fight convincingly, much less destroying Trinidad. Tito won rounds 2, 6, 9-12. Last I counted that's 6 rounds making it a draw. He doesn't act like he destroyed DLH, he simply got the short end of the stick financially and wants DLH to switch names on the contract to fight him. Tito is a proud fighter and knows that DLH is more interested in the money than in his legacy. That's why DLH never agreed to terms with Tito on the fight, he was unwilling to get less money that Tito for the fight.

Tito, on the other hand, will make the fight with Hopkins if the names were reversed on the contract. Actually, Tito was in better possition against DLH than Hopkins is against Tito now. Tito will STILL make more money than B-Hop because Hopkins can't headline a PPV while Tito can.

He can afford that lesson. If he loses, he just goes back to 147 and keeps winning. Or if he looks good and loses he might get Wright or Mosley. At 147 he's waiting for Mayweather to come back. He can lose, not tarnish his image too much, and make a lot more money than he can at any welterweight fight.

It doesn't really hurt to lose a BIG fight, as we've seen lately. Felix Sturm and Kali Meehan have made their names losing fights; DLH, Mosley, Mayorga have all lost fights and been rewarded with immediate PPVs.

Well, Sturm I can see that, he was beatin Oscar's ass. But I don't see Spinks really lasting against Tito. Sure, it won't hurt his image in the eyes of boxing fans, but if he loses like I think he will, that fact remains that he is gets an ass beating. Spinks can put a boxing clinic on anyone. Boring, can't crack and can't dance. Although there was that excitement factor in the Mayorga fight due to the fact that Mayorga could have landed a hay-maker at any point of the fight.

Spinks is committing suicide by fighting tito & tito has nothing to gain. Spinks should take on KT because I reckon Kostya would nail him big time.

Yeah definatly, Spinks has far more of a chance against Tszyu than he would Tito. Who do you think wins in Spinks and Tszyu?

You could be right. My take on it is that Tszyu chases him for a few rounds and catches Spinks with a thunderous hit on the chin and stops him. Spinks can outbox him but Tszyu is very fast and accurate and i think that is what would let Spinks down.

That may happen but at this point, Tsyzu's power at 147 is speculative. Spinks has a pretty good chin. He was tagged by Mayorga on a number of occasions in their fight and Spinks shrugged them off.
Only moot point is, he got his ass rocked by Zab...

We don't know if Tszyu would carry his power to 147, especially considering that Spinks took Mayorga's punches.

Rather than fighting guys from different weights, though, I'd MUCH rather see him fight KErmit Cintron. I wanna know if Cintron is for real!

good point regarding Tszyu's power at 147. I think if he caught Spinks with one or two good shots, it would be over anyway.

Tszyu always looked small even for a 140 lb'er, and those extra 7 lbs might make a big difference.

Spinks seems to have a solid enough chin, anyhow. He took Mayorga's punches alright, and even though Judah hurt him, Judah's a decent puncher anyway, so there's no shame in that.

I wouldn't say Spinks has no chance but I would say there is about a 95% chance that Spinks in knocked out in no more than 3 rounds.

It would be a cat and mouse game all night/fight. Tsyzu will be chasing and Spinks will be slipping and boxing...

I dont care what spinks wants if tito takes this fight i will lose respect for him. Mayo was a good comeback fight, tough opponent, good chin, respectable power but if he wants to beat B-Hop i dont understand how he thinks hes gonna do it by fighting WW. Tito go fight Taylor, Strum, hell any real middleweight would be better than spinks.
