My favourite is ancient Rome because of all the great warriors that were alive. Just to watch a gladiators match in the colloseum would be amazing.

i was going to go with native americans but i don't think of them as an ancient culture, but their "ancient" traditions are just fascinating.

Ancient Egypt, Greece, Mesopotamia (SP), China, Japan, Atlantis (yeah, I think it existed), or with the Oglala Lakota....although the Hopi and Cherokee also offer fascinating options....Aztecs and Mayans.

Mind you, as far as "living" in any of these cultures is concerned, I would prefer the Lakota. They were not as "technilogically advanced"; but they had a sense of community and family....and, to my knowledge, no human sacrifices.
