View Full Version : lower abs
speedoverpower0 07-14-2006, 08:27 AM I have a problem with getting muscle on my lower abbs, (around my belly button) I've increased my leg raises cus I feel it a lot in that area but is there anything else, also for the muscles on the sides of your main ab muscles? (on the side of your 6 pac :D)
PunchDrunk 07-14-2006, 12:04 PM Usually your lower abs are actually the bigger part of your abs. Especially if you're already doing leg raises. I would think your problem is the same as everybody else in this world: That's where the fat disappears last.
Try full contact twists though. Good for the side of your abs, and very functional (for most things) as well. :)
speedoverpower0 07-14-2006, 09:33 PM alright, what are they?
NJFighter91 07-14-2006, 11:48 PM You can't really target the lower abs specifically. I mean, you could work the lower part more than the top part, but you can't isolate it.
Getting the lower abs is mainly diet.
MR. V 07-15-2006, 12:10 AM everybody will have they're own version of how to get lower abs , but just do i what i do. u cant go wrong. apart from the obliques, and upper ab workout i do 120 leg lifts/ 120 leg raises/ 120 elbow to knee crunches/ then 120 leg lift turns ( all for lower abs only). if u mix this in your routine youll have that full six pack in about a month. this i can assure u.

I will take you up on this and try it out.
Evil_Meat 07-15-2006, 03:20 AM Squats, squats, and more squats... for those that think it will slow you down do low weight high rep and it won't add bulk. I do sets of 20 at only 185 pounds and the results are good, and its great for getting lower abs. Do this along with Mr V's good advice and ull get great results.
yrrej 07-15-2006, 11:35 AM The size of the abs doesn't matter, so long as they are conditioned, but Roman Chairs work them out well.....
speedoverpower0 07-15-2006, 07:26 PM thanks for all that:)
another thing (hope your on a roll:D) I cant feel it in the chest when I do push ups and bench presses and flys (I dont normally do flys I just wanted to see if it helped) ans the only time I feel it in the chest is when I do the straight arm/bent arm dumbbell pullovers.
Is there any reason for this? are you ment to not feel it? any help with this?
six85 07-15-2006, 07:48 PM Try to squeeze your chest when closing with the flys. I think you tend to feel it more during the pullovers because your grips are closer. Try using a closer grip while doing pushups or bench. If not try a wider grip. As for the lower abs, I heard it's a combination of exercises, running (distance and interval), and diet..
NJFighter91 07-15-2006, 08:36 PM Lighten up the weight and use a wider than shoulder grip. And use dumbells if you're not already.
