ok so im new to boxing and these forums. and ive been reading alt but i still dont know where to start. im in pretty good physical condition. i lift weights at my gym run everyday and hit the bag almost everyday. but how do i start to get serious? i mean should i join a boxing gym and take there guidance? The only problem i have with that it is spent alot of money on my current gym membership and that gym is 1 minute away from my house but they have no boxing instructors or equipment. and the closest boxing gym to me is over 20 miles away. so should i jsut stop being a baby and ehad over to the boxing gym? or could i hire a personal trainer who has his own equpiment?
thanks

Dude, do what has to be done. I started with "boxing fitness" at my company-sponsored mega-gym two blocks away. To find a boxing gym that was worth a shit I had to go into the heart of our city's hood. The place I train has bloodstains on the canvas of the ring, and guys with diamonds in their teeth and prison tattoos. There's one guy who trains in there who wears a house arrest bracelet on his ankle. I'm surprised every time I come out of the gym at night and find my car still where I left it. I live uptown, in a hi-rise view condo. My gym isonly 15 minutes away but it might as well be on Mars.
Do what you have to do, go where you have to go, to get trained well.
