View Full Version : Need help picking training gloves jer27 07-09-2006, 02:24 AM not sure what brand to go with , i got 70 bucks , was thinking the title platium boxing gloves , they any good? Dye 07-09-2006, 02:42 AM go to ringside.com and on the front page they have Cleto reyes bag gloves, i know you said training gloves but they are great jer27 07-09-2006, 01:22 PM i think im better off with the training gloves , are title gloves even good? or am i better off with an everlast pair Dye 07-09-2006, 08:36 PM title is alright i had a pair lasted a long time, get what you want Pork Chop 07-10-2006, 12:07 PM Training glove usually implies sparring, so a bag glove wouldn't be a good idea for that. I have one pair of Titles that has lasted forever, but don't have a ton of experience with them other than that; couldn't tell you why they're not recommended more. Probably couldn't go wrong with the Title Platinum gloves. Heard good things about Rival's training glove and Ringside's IMF training glove (when they fit); but have no personal experience. I am a little particular to TufWear's Training glove coz they had a pair at one of my old gyms that was over 10 years old and still relatively decent. I personally don't like Everlast, though I know folks who swear by them- they seem to fall apart quick, they either come in the cheapo Sports Authority variety, or the saggy, ultra-soft leather version. I had the soft, soggy feelin ones and after a few uses the fake horse hair filler was pokin through the glove liner. Gave those gloves to my buddy and he loves 'em. I would only get Ringside Ultimate Classic training gloves if you really want super-padded sparring gloves. The 16oz ones have almost the same amount of padding as the Ringside big-hitter gloves, which are 20oz. One other thing you may want to consider is the thai kickboxing brands, my personal favorite (for gloves) being Twins. Some people have problems with Twins' velcro wearing out quick, but you can just slice it off with a razor blade & replace it with stuff from Home Depot should that happen. In general tho, Twins is good quality, the rest of the glove lasts well, the foam is a good thickness for sparring, and they're comfortable. My personal favorite are Grants, though they're not in your $70 budget. vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
