ferocity 07-09-2006, 01:28 AM These sucked when they were brand new, used them only for a few weeks before changing gloves, very little knuckle protection.

I've had good and bad experiances with these gloves. I think quality controld sucks. Cause i've bought three pairs of these gloves. The first and second pair were good, the third pair sucked. You have to break these gloves in, to really make a fist, they have good knuckle protection. I they last a good while, but the break in time takes awhile.

I just got these, good knuckle protection, will take a few days to really make a good fist, they are not tight on the hand, good fair fit and should fit better once i've done more break in time.

ferocity 07-09-2006, 01:34 AM These are the 'img tech' ringside gloves i talked about i another thread. They have great knuckle protection. Hard to make a true fist before break in time. The size i got is medium and they were really tight just below my thumb. I was planning on using them today on the bag but they were too tight below the thumb and it was too painfull to keep punching the bag with them on. But it could be that i got them too small and i should have gotten size large.

See the black stripe goes down the glove where the thumb is, that where the glove was squeezing my hand.

ferocity 07-09-2006, 01:40 AM These are the current gloves i use that are really worn. They are the everlast gloves you can buy at big5sport store. They need break in time to make a fist, but have good knuckle protection. Because i had to really squeeze hard to make a true fist i think this glove has helped me in fist technique, what i mean is, making a fist when only im going to make contact. What i did notice too was they go up your forearms a bit much and for me they bothered me a bit. I may try thier upper class everlast glove.

And heres my 100.lb heavy bag, that is worn and starting to split in half.

ferocity 07-09-2006, 01:41 AM I should add that these glove are not the top level priced gloves, these are affordable gloves that i've purchased and im sure many other have too. Hope this helps and any questions, go ahead and ask me.
you have hairy arms.LoL but yeah those all are pretty worn gloves
ferocity 07-09-2006, 04:58 AM you have hairy arms.LoL but yeah those all are pretty worn gloves
The first picture, those basicly brand new gloves cost me around 70 bucks, but they are lace up gloves, which is why i don't use them beside that they are made for sparring and.
The contender and the red T gloves those are like in the 20 buck area, the grant bag gloves were 60,everlast i think they were like in the 30's. the new black thin gloves on special 25 bucks. I got to throw them gloves away, once i get another pair i through a few fair of gloves away. I guess i do have hairy arms, now im going to shave my arms. :boxing:
Which glove did you end up ordering, did you order the cleto reyes gloves?

Cool, i think i seen some at ringside but for the price rang im looking for 60 bucks, they only had lace up gloves, i'll have to check if they have velcro gloves.
if you are looking for $60 gloves there on sale for $50 right now not velcro, go to Ringside and Cleto's bag glove lace up in 50% off

see thats the problem, im looking for velcro, i don't even think cleto reyes make velcro gloves
Pork Chop 07-09-2006, 05:57 PM the reyes cuff is short enough that it does well using a glovers assistant with the lace up- so you only have to worry about the velcro of the glovers assistant when slipping on and off. only like 7 bux or so i think.
they make velcro now for bag and training glove i think
Pork Chop 07-10-2006, 12:13 PM Just wanted to say that I've only seen that kinda wear and tear that you got on most of your gloves, especially the Grants, from gloves frequently used on duct-taped bags. The only gloves I ever saw that didn't fall apart like that on a duct-taped bag were TufWear gloves.
From the look of your knuckles, either you do a lot of traditional martial art iron palm training, or your bag is causing extra friction with each punch.
You might want to look into one of those heavybag gel covers from Ringside.

the outer side of the grant glove look like that cause i've had them outside and just been collecting dirt and drying up a bit. But the knuckle are is worn by bag use. My knuckles have always torn up or brused up, but for the past month they've been good since using the everlast gloves, i bouth the imf tech gloves cause of the padding but they turned out to be to small so i may just go with a better quality everlast glove next time. Im think of getting the reyes glvoe with the velcro adapter but im not sure how good that would be when continuaslly using the gloves. Today im going to call ringside and i'll see which gloves i get.
Pork Chop 07-10-2006, 01:03 PM ARGH forum's gotta be busted.
.... okay 5th try.....
The damage to your knuckles is a good sign that something's wrong with your technique or your striking surface. It's not only damaging your knuckles but prematurely wearing down your gloves as well. I'm willing to bet that it's the bag coz duct taped bags don't fold, which is why i suggested the heavybag gel cover. gotta protect your tools.

I too have problems posting too.
I think i used to not make a tight enough fist before i got the everlast gloves. Since i got the everlast gloves i was forced to make a fist and since then i notice the diffence of before of how i was punching. I also notice the other day that at times i stop breathing when throwing hard punchs in flurries. I've always had touble with my knuckles. Could be also that when my gloves are new i punch the lower of the bag consistantly hard with all my power if their enough padding and it could be that before the punch slide off the bag causeing a scratch on the knuckles that just builds up over time. But i think so far, i have busted up my hands and i think its because of the help i got from the everlast gloves.
Pork Chop 07-10-2006, 02:02 PM Dunno if these are the ones you're looking at, but the gloves below definitely had some of the most "relaxed" leather I've ever felt in a glove and made an easy fist:
