Is studying boxers and trying to emulate their style a good decision to do? Should I try to study a specific or a few specific boxers with the same body characteristics as me or just keep learning and become more experienced and have my own style?
I see some posters here who study fighters and try to fight just like them. Is this a good idea or should I stick with my own stuff and have my own style?

I used to try and fight just like my favorit fighters. I used to try and do everything exactly like them. But when i lost, and confused and tired in the ring, i didn't know what to do, all i keep thinking was what would so and so do know?
My advice is study which ever boxer see that he throw an awsome punch or has great technique, BUT, do not try to fight like them or puch the same as they do or throw a punch like them. What i mean is whatever you see that you want to pick up from their style, put it into your style and make it your own style.
One fighter can never fight like the other, the best one can do it bring that technique to your fighting style and you perfecting what you see to your style.
What im trying to say is whatever you see incorperate it to your style, don't try to immulate the style just like the originater. Make it into your style, develop it to your style. Its like when you first start out boxing, they show you to throw the jab then the right hand. After awhile you may throw the jab or the right hand in a way that better works for you. And thats what im trying to say, what you see you may use it if you like but put it into your style not you trying to immulate that certain style, no one can fight like the other fither.

Thanks a lot. Good post. Because I love Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Leanard, but I could never copy their whole style. It's just too different.
I see what you mean though, thanks.

The only way you can copy a boxer's style is if you had exactly what they had or more of it. I see people all the time try to copy Roy with the lead hand down and the right up and get caught so many different times.

Ur fighting style is part of ur personality and make up. Sure u can watch ur fav fighters and c what they do if ur style is similar to theres but fighting is a true way of expressing ur self. Be ur self in the ring not a fake Jones.

It's good to watch their form, but not emulate. If anyone could copy anyone else, we'd see everyone looking the same in one way or another. De La Hoya is an example of a guy who had all the tools to be an all-time great, and wasted it trying to emulate different "styles" rather than developing his own style (as he seems to be doing now rather late).
