Why is the left hook the knock out punch and not the right hook?
Yesterday In boxing Ivan, One of best boxing instructors in England came to our club and said that the left hook is the knock out punch, but why not the right hook?

coz it travels short distance and should involve good hip rotation. To keep the hip rotating the length of a right (rear) hook, you almost need to be squared up so the hip can push past the point of contact. The right hook can hurt but the positioning of the hips makes it more difficult. hope that makes any sort of sense.

I understood it but didn't completely understand it.
To the thread start, get up and throw a left hook from your stance and then a right hook. For each one go as far as you can. See which one does the hips turn more in.

For one thing, hardly anyone practices the right hook. For another thing, it is more visible starting from the rear hand than the left hook. De La Hoya uses a right hook to the body effectively.

left hook is just in line to finsih someone off
usually its 1,2,3
so
jab
straight
and LEFT HOOK
your body is torqued up to throw that last and hard punch to knock somoene out
the left hook is also dangerous head or body

MY TRAINER AND A WORLD REKNOWN BOXER/FIGHTER TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY WAY YOU COULD BUILD/ STRENGTHEN YOUR LEFT HOOK IS GOING TO BE PRACTICE. TIME BRINGS IT ALL BUT THE LEFT HOOK IS NOT THE KNOCKOUT PUNCH IT'S THE PUNCH YOU USE AFTER YOU STING YOUR OPPONENT WITH A RIGHT.

I'm a little confused by this post.
Are you talking southpaw or orthodox left hook?
Coz we've been talking the rear hook, which is an orthodox right hook (southpaw left).
A counter left hook (orthodox) is indeed a KO punch and one of the main causes of KOs.
