View Full Version : what the difference between slip and weave? eazy_mas 07-06-2006, 05:32 PM Just a newbie question? Dyl-G 07-06-2006, 06:17 PM same thing Dyl-G 07-06-2006, 06:30 PM samething but more continuous, its a slip but side to side repeatedly, watch manny pacquiao, he doesit a lot. jadagod 07-06-2006, 07:01 PM i thought a slip is when u weave ur head and turn ur body to the side so the guys body is not facing u and a weave is wen u weave a punch and step in or out with the guy still facing u??? LightsOut Le 07-07-2006, 01:36 AM slipping is usually done to avoid jabs and straight rights, its when you move your head side to side to get your face out of the way weaving is part of "bobing-and-weaving" its done to avoid hooks, when someone throws a hook you dip down and go under the hook then when they miss you come back with a counter jadagod 07-07-2006, 04:09 PM Slip - Slipping rotates the body slightly so that an incoming punch passes harmlessly next to the head. As the opponent's punch arrives, the boxer sharply rotates the hips and shoulders. This turns the chin sideways and allows the punch to "slip" past. Bob and Weave - Bobbing moves the head laterally and beneath an incoming punch. As the opponent's punch arrives, the boxer bends the legs quickly and simultaneously shifts the body either slightly right or left. Once the punch has been evaded, the boxer "weaves" back to an upright position, emerging on either the outside or inside of the opponent's still-extended arm. To move outside the opponent's extended arm is called "bobbing to the outside". To move inside the opponent's extended arm is called "bobbing to the inside" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing#Defense its a mix of wat me and lights out said lol eazy_mas 07-07-2006, 06:09 PM thanks everyone vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
