I don't know if this is O/T or not...but what is your motivation for boxing/training?

I have to say personally for me, it's the thought of one day being a champ, my chances are very slim and I know that it's amazingly difficult to become a belt holder/champ, but this is always at the back of my head whenever I train trying to get that one extra rep and when I feel like cheating on my diet or something.

I also love to push myself to the limit and always try when I'm doing my workouts especially cardio.

"everybody, needs drems, today people stopped dreamin, they forget that dreams come true, so you better start dreamin"

Beleive it or not..but I only have the motivation for proving people wrong and by doing that I plan on becoming a champion. All my life I've been looking to prove people that I am something and now boxing is what is going to make people regret wasting their time for doubting me..

I started boxing 5 months ago because I was afraid of getting punched. About six weeks ago I got in an actual fight, slipped a sucker punch and the guy went to the hospital with a shattered hand (he hit the wall, hard.)

Now I want to see what I'm really capable of.

I want to do a local exhibition inter-gym fight this fall and then a real amateur (Master's Division) fight at a casino or somesuch in '07. Just one real match, to show myself that I can. My parents think I'm nuts, my coworkers think I'm nuts -- this is just me, and my wife, and my friends at the gym, against the world. It's ****ing cool. :boxing:

Oh, yeah. My sex life is off the hook now that I'm in shape again (endurance FTW), and I look good naked for the first time in years. I've lost 25 lbs. and I'm in in awesome physical condition. My wife -- who's ten years younger than me -- can't keep her hands off me. :luvbed:

On that. . . g'nite!

The one other piece of motivation I have, is the reminder that the harder I work out, the less the next sparring session is going to hurt. It's a direct equation that I'm beginning to believe in. I haven't been hit squarely in over a month, touch wood. A big part of that has been drilling my fundamentals again and again and again -- footwork, slips, weaves, parries. Boring, repetitive work, but thinking, "Keep at it or it's gonna hurt," is enough to make me put in the extra time.

There are few things in life as satisfying as making your opponent miss every shot of a combination. :boxing:

Thanks for that. Ima start remembering that. I have noticed how harder i have become to hit since i started serious cardio and exercices.

i've kinda lost my motivation right now.

moved 3 months ago to take a better paying job so i didn't have to work 2 jobs to get by.

I naively thought it would be the same as before, but just a new state.

Unfortunately my training situation here doesn't really get me excited. In fact, it's downright ugly.

My job keeps me late and all the gyms close early.
I got a fitness center with no boxing equipment, a boxing gym that don't let me kick the bags, and a kickboxing gym that is run like a martial arts class.

I like the boxing gym the best I guess.
Locked into a year contract with the kickboxing gym (tho it's not expensive to break).
If I want to spar kickboxing I gotta do the mma class- PS I FREAKIN HATE grappling.
Kickboxing gym's classes are @ 5pm, 6pm, and somtimes 7pm; I was told that I'm free to do my own thing during those hours but I still can't get up to go down there.

Feel kinda trapped in my situation. Don't want to tick anybody off but I'm just not digging that kickboxing gym.

Looks like I'm probably just going to box full time now.
