....and live to tell about it??

I think not. Ricardo would be lucky if his head was still attached to his body if he pulled that crap with Julian.

Julian is the hardest puncher, lb4lb, to ever walk this earth.

Mayorga sticks it out.....Jackson takes him out.

Mayorga believes so much in his chin that he would stick it out then get knocked out.

I think Mayorga would stick his chin out to earnie shavers...and die in the process of doing so.

Tito's a banger, no doubt, but Julian is on a whole other plane of powerpunching existence.

NOBODY concussed people like he did.

Really? I just have to disagree wholeheartedly.

Tito's explosive and a great finisher, but Julian touched people and they went to sleep..deep sleep.

I actually think it's a great testament to his power that Julian made it as far as he did--he really didn't have jack in the way of boxing skills.

Well said. I think that Jackson was top three as far as devastating punchers go. His power was his crutch. He owns some of the most devastating KO's ever.

No way, Jackson was a decisively bigger puncher than Tito. Jackson knocked guy's out cold.

If Mayorga stuck his chin out to Jackson, it would be good night.

Tito Trinidad is a lethal, beautiful puncher. But, he's never really hit someone with one shot & left them out cold.
Jackson did this all the time.

Jose....check out Jackson's KO of the very tough Buster Drayton.
The body shots that set up the KO punch, & the KO punch itself, are unlike anything Tito could deliver.

Julian Jackson would have seriously injured someone like Fernando Vargas.

Yeah Jackson's power was crazy. Mayorga has a great chin no doubt but if you look at the first round when he dropped his hands he would turn his head slighty just before the punch would land. He didn't really allow the punch to land as flush as it would of if he just stuck it out there. He did the same against Forrest.

I have seen all the regular highlight reel Jackson's KO's and his power is sick, but I think Tito stacks up against anyone

and just a note. Felix Trinidad did seriously hurt Fernando Vargas.

yes...after twelve rounds & five knockdowns...

Give Julian any of those same opportunities & Vargas goes TO SLEEP.

Julian would have not needed twelve rounds & 5 knockdowns to get rid of Vargas, if Vargas was there to be hit.

Believe me, Trinidad is a better fighter than Jackson, but Jackson is the far bigger puncher. The biggest I've ever seen.

jackson vs errol graham..was being dominated the whole fight while throughout the commentators went on and on that jackson could change the whole fight with one punch.
and god they were right.errol waded in and got carried out lol

Jackson doesn't even beat Vargas in my opnion.

In spite of the fact that Ricardo perfectly holds impact, I am sure, that at hit Jacksons fist in chin Mayorga would appear in a knockout. Even one punch.

the G-man was a bigger puncher than tito, way bigger, Tito is not that powerful, he is EXTREMEly accurate, that is why he knocks guys out, his punches appear more powerful because of that accuracy, either way they are effective

jackson would have kayo'd tito in the first round, tito is good but overrated, especially at middleweight, he couldnt crack the top 100 all time in that weight class

Mayorga still to small for Jackson.

I think it would be sweet if someone would put up a video on this site of all the greatest KO's. Julian Jackson, Mike Tyson, Joe Louis, throw in that Ray Mercer KO of Morrison.

Zhen

In the old site, someone had a avatar picture of Mercer knocking out Morrison. It was manipulated so that Mercer had a thought bubble that read "This is for Rocky V"

Holy crap that's awesome!! And Rocky V was horrible. I think the Rocky series was deteriorated more than any other movie series.
The first Rocky was a Top5 greatest movie of all time. I don't care about the boxing, I just love the whole philosophy of giving something everything you've got, and just knowing that even if you don't win, the fact that you didn't give up makes it all okay. Also I love a happy ending and Rocky has the best movie ending ever, just so simple and perfect.

Rocky 2-4 where just rehashes, and you knew the ending before you saw it. Still, the music, training scenes, and fight scenes are pretty cool.

I think that Mayo got hurt with that second hook tito hit him with. Mayo just played it off like he didnt. You could tell that it affected him though after the performance he put on right after.

Mayorga's chin has to be among the best I've seen in my lifetime, and his heart isn't too shabby either, considering the bombs Tito was throwing and landing at will on his head AND body. The body shots are what finished him, nothing to the head was backing Mayorga up or slowing him down (at least not noticably).

I don't think Mayorga would be KTFO'd by any one punch unless someone like Jackson had a chance to step back a couple of steps and then go at him with all he had, but nothing standing still...

Oh, and what Larry Merchant said that night was poignant even if a little obvious, taking the shots is alot easier if you know they're coming and are prepared to sustain them...but I still think it's a ballsy move and highly entertaining, even if quite careless and stupid. Doing it to Vernon Forrest is one thing, but to Tito? Man I was loving it, it had me on my fight screaming and laughing...fantastic action. I wish Mayo would fight May 21!! Damn!

04-20-2005, 10:27 AM
I just watched the fight again last night (Trinidad-Mayorga) and Merchant actually attributes the quote of sticking the chin out as a trick to Mayorga himself...so he himself said it is alot easier to take it when you see it coming, not Merchant...again, quite obvious, but worth noting.

Yeah, I think Trinidad's ability to deliver a punch and take a punch is better than Jackson's
