I know it's only like 5-6 hours away, but for those that follow K-1, who's gonna take the Max finals?

Drago:
Drago is a highly capable fighter that has beaten some of the best fighters that the Netherlands has to offer. He holds wins over Mohamed Ouali, Chris van Venrooij (twice), Stephan Veselic (twice), Ali Gunyar (twice), Imro Main and Marco Pique. He is very aggressive and this makes him a fan favorite. He defeated Denmark’s Ole Laursen by unanimous decision. He is the underdog in this tournament but will he prove everyone wrong?

Albert Kraus:
Albert Kraus is the 2002 K-1 Max champion. He has defeated the likes of Masato, Buakaw Pramuk, Virgil Kalokada, and others. Kraus has it all punches, kicks, and knees but his most powerful weapon are his punches that can knock you out at any moment. He is one of the heavy favorites in K-1. Before winning the K-1 finals in 2002 he was defeated by Ali Gunyar. However, he just defeated him in a rematch and that win has just qualified him for the Finals this year.

Buakaw Por. Pramuk:
Buakaw Pramuk is the 2004 K-1 Champion and a former Omnoy Boxing Stadium Lightweight Champion. Buakaw is the number 1 fighter in K-1 today but that makes him the man to stop. He has beaten the likes of Masato, Albert Kraus, Mike Zambidis, and many others. He is a master kicker and has improved tremendously in his boxing skills. Many believe that he should have also won the K-1 title in 2005 after a very close fight with current champion Andy Souwer. To enter this years tournament he had to beat Virgil Kalakoda. However, he was pushed to his limits. Will Buakaw become the first fighter to win the whole tournament twice?

Yoshihiro Sato:
Yoshihiro Sato has been on a role as of late. Just this year he won the K-1 Japan Max. He holds victories over KAOKLAI KAENNORSING and Tatsuji. Sato’s high work rate and unrelenting pressure causes even the best to give up. To make it to the finals he defeated Greek fighting legend Mike Zambidis and he did it in a convincing way. He is one of the heavy favorites to win the whole thing and why not? He posses all the tools necessary to accomplish this.

Masato:
Masato is best known for his rock-star good-looks, cocky--yet reserved and respectful demeanor, freakish reflexes, overwhelming speed, technical precision, unyielding determination, pro-boxing hand skills, and his explosive low-kicks, by which most of his knockouts have come. He is the former K-1 MAX champion (2003) and a former ISKA world welterweight champion. Since his debut in 1997 Masato has constantly been evolving. He has defeated the likes of Albert Kraus, Mike Zambidis, “Kid” Yamamoto, Kozo Takeda, Takayuki Kohiruimaki, and Countless others. Masato’s movement in the ring is second to none and coupled with his low kicks and fast hands he could stay out of harm’s way while casually racking up points. After a lackluster perfomance against Ian Schaffa, many where wondering if it was over for Masato but to qualify for the Finals this year he defeated feared Lithuanian fighter Remigijus Morkevicius by TKO in the 2nd round. Which showed that the real Masato is back!Could this be Masato’s year again?

Andy Souwer:
Andy Souwer is the defending K-1 Max champion (2005) and a former S-Cup champion. Souwer isn’t really a KO puncher and instead his technical brilliance usually carries him to victory. He has defeated the likes of BUAKAW POR.PRAMUK, Kozo Takeda, and others. He has incredible cardio and a never give up attitude. To qualify for the Finals this year he had to go threw Tsogto Amara. The fight was controversial and many believe that SHINOBU should have won. Will Souwer make up for his last performance and show that he is the real deal?

Takayuki Kohiruimaki:
Kohi is a mystery. One day he can beat the best fighter in the world and the next lose to a level C fighter. He has all the talent in the world but his biggest weakness is his heart. He has defeated Masato, Kraus, Sudo, and Zambidis. To qualify for this years tournament he defeated K-1 Khan champ Chi Bin Lim by TKO in the 3rd. Will Kohi use his talent and prove everyone wrong by winning the K-1 title this year?

Virgil Kalakoda:
Kalakoda was given the 8th spot in the finals after impressing the K-1 suits by taking former champion Buakaw to his limits. Virgil's a proficient boxer and likes to apply constant pressure on his opponents. With no clinching and holding being prohibited he's a very dangerous fighter under K-1 rules. He has all ready defeated one of the favorite in Yoshihiro Sato. Will a pure boxer win the K-1 championship?

Is K-1 MAX gonna be shown in the U.S.? And who will be the PPV provider?

What is K-1 MAX, I mean I hear K-1 this and K-1 that, so what is the difference between K-1 MAX to other K-1 tournaments?

Anyway I'm familiar w/ BUAKAW and a few of the names that have been mentioned. I'm pickin' BUAKAW, the MAN-CHILD is freakish!

yeah, this thing was over about a week ago..

K-1 Max is the lighter fighters of K-1, meaning much more action... it's won't be on US television. PPV providers are missing out on some serious profit with the refusal(?) to broadcast these events, the most K-1 that PPV shows is a few randomly picked K-1 World GP events (usually the ones with the most Americans in it) and they don't even bother showing the GP Finals in the US which makes even less sense... thank god for the internet i guess..

i saw some highlights of the tourny. Buakaw was a beast. he had a pretty tough bracket having to face Sato and Drago. i was surprised that Drago got past Kraus. but Buakaw looked like he outclassed each of his opponents, Drago being the only one to go the distance with him. i'm hopin that i can pick this up somewhere or that it'll be on youtube or something.
