I just recently bought this gloves. http://www.ringside.com/DETAIL.ASPX?ID=25151

I didn't expect it, but they are very tight to put on and straining. Do i just need to wear it for a while and it will loosen up? I don't think i'll even be able to put it on if i use hand wraps.

Which part is giving you trouble? the wrist? the palm? the pocket?

Ringsides can be a snug pocket for people with big hands; Reyes are actually great for people with big hands. After you work out in the gloves & sweat in them a while, you'll break in the leather and they'll fit nice.

If you're in a rush and really want to break them in asap, double wrap, use a knuckle guard, and squeeze your hands in there best you can (will probably need some help). You'll stretch the leather out quicker.

If you don't mind a more gradual break-in period and just want to be able to use them for a good workout, skip wraps altogether and go bare handed- the snug pocket will provide support until they loosen up.

If you're having a hard time slipping them on due to the wrist/palm, make sure you roll the elastic band all the way up and open up the glove as much as possible before trying to slide them on.

if there really tight dont worry about handwraps for just doing bags n tht but if your sparring it would be best to have hand wraps on , get a set of the new kinds of handwraps there like glove you just put on then put ur gloves on, they will loosen up after a while.

the problem is getting my hand through the first portion of the glove, before my hand is entirely in. The wrist section is very tight. Will that part expand a little? Once i get everything in there is fits good though

I bought the same pair a couple of months ago. My suggestion: RETURN THEM. They feel good when you punch but are way to hard to put on I would go with winning or everlast hook and loop definatley no elastic cuffs.

Everlast hook and loop are dirt cheap and they're pretty good too, though the foam is very dense so taking hard shots hurts less and the light ones hurt more.

yup i have those exact gloves. imf tech ringside training, 16oz.

i used scissors to cut off the elastic band. wrist support is gone now. but i use 1 extra handwrap for each hand. the first handwrap is mainly focused on the wrists. the second handwrap is put on normally.

winning gloves are very expensive, and there are two versions of the everlast hook & loop.

I believe my Ringside Ultimate Classics are the same way and if i'm not mistaken the gloves have an outter elastic band (visible in the picture) covering the velcro strap fastened at the palm, an inner elastic band close to the palm keeping that part of the glove tight, and the velcro lower down around the wrist.

The outter layer of elastic is more of a "lace cover" type of thing and I wouldn't think it would impact wrist support that much.

The inner layer of elastic at the palm is a relatively small piece of elastic that you can stretch by tugging on it for a while.

Another option is getting a glove dog, layering it a couple times with some socks until it's nice & thick, and then inserting it into the wrist of the glove, only so far as the wrist part where it's snug. Store it like that over night, maybe even getting it a little wet so you can shape it like a baseball cap.
