hey everyone,
I have been on Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard whey protein powder (strawberry) for around a month now. I usually take it only after I work out, which ends up being every tuesday, thursday, saturday. I use a full scoop as recommended with milk. I am wondering if it is benefical for me to take it every day, even if i dont work out? Or i was possibly thinking about working out lightly at my home (since i have a medicine ball and bench press etc..) 2 extra days and possibly taking it after those work outs totalling 5 a week. Just wondering what you guys think and anything else in general you know about whey protein powder would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help. :boxing:

U shouldnt take whey protein with milk after training cause milk slows down the release of the protein and u need to feed ur muscle asap use water. Mix whey and milk before bed if u like. Yes i would take ur protein even on non training days cause u want yur body to stay in a anabolic state.

thats bull****. you deserve bad karma for saying that!!.

Skimmed milk is not the same as water, milk takes hours to be broken down in the stomach so by mixing whey with milk it acts more like caesium protein which is slow releasing which is ideal before bed but not after training.....but u knew that didnt u.

Give me bad karma u ***** it will make u feel better :luvbed:

but skimmed milk(red top) is so thin, that the breaking down process is shorter than full fat milk.

I never mentioned full fat milk in comparison to skimmed we are talking about skimmed and water ;)

I thought skimmed milk is light-blue top and full milk is red top.

ok thanks..but i use skim milk.. and actually end up going to the gym from 8-10ish and end up drinking my protein shake at like 1130 or so..so it does end up being before bed
..would it just be better to use water for the protein powder? i imagine it tastes much worse

Your right it does taste worst but using whey and water is more quickly absorbed ideal for after training.

believe it or not.. jigga is 100 percent right.. your body has to break down the milk before the protein..

if your go to like GMC and vitamin world.. it tells you to take it with milk..

if you get all natural whey (unflavored, and it tastes like ****) its good to mix with grape or apple juice..

dude it's better with milk, because when with water your glucose gets bigger and the powder hits your blood like a house on fire, cells can't work that quickly so you'd be wasteing a lot of'em. truth is with milk you get better results and it's much slower to process so you'd be getting the protient after the workout once your all sore and ready to get pumped up and stuff

whey definitley breaks down better in your body with water instead of milk. regardless of what milk you use with it, your body has to process the milks nutrients along with the whey. which in turn, is most likely going to be 30-35 grams of protein at one time so another disadvantage to having it with milk is that the whey isolates in the protein drink you have will not get absorbed as well because the bodys average protein consumption is about 30 grams and the rest is not used efficiently. water is the way to go.
drink it for the gains it gives you not the taste

Well u take it with milk then ok.

Immediately after training a whey protein that is combined with a high glycemic carb index is the best. I think thats what u were trying to say about the glucose bit. But u got it the wrong way round. But what wud i know its not as if am qualified or anything

lol...you know wayyyyyyyyyyyy more than me as far as nutrition goes, but by experience I've seen MUCH better results mixing with milk rathern than water.
