For those billionaire's, I am starting a FFL at Yahoo. I need 8-10 people who are willing to do a buy in for 1 bil points. We will do a live draft somewhere towards the last preseason game or after preseason if we can. Who wants in? And what type of league do you guys want?

I'm impartial at the moment. As a Packer fan it's hard to feel excited for this upcomming year... it's going to be ugly.

suggestions on scoring:
*offense*

completions = 0.5 pts
passing yards = 1 pt for every 40-50 yards
passing tds = 6 points
interceptions = -3 pts

receptions = 0.5pts or 1 pt
receiving yards = 1 pt for every 20 yds
receiving tds = 6 points

rushing yards = 1 pt for every 20 yds
rushing tds = 6 pts
fumbles lost = -2 pts (offense only...all positions)

fgs (under 40 yds) = 3 pts
fgs (40-49 yds) = 4 pts
fgs (over 50 yds) = 5 pts
missed fgs = -1 pt
xps - 1 point

QB
WR
WR
WR
RB
RB
TE
WR/RB
Kicker

*defense*

solo tackles = 1 pt
asst tackles = 0.5 pts
sacks = 2 or 3 pts
interceptions = 3 pts
forced fumbles = 2 pts
fumbles recovered = 3 pts
blk kick = 4 pts
pass deflections = 1 pt

D-Line
D-Line
D-Back
D-Back
D (general)
D (general)

5 bench slots. 1 injury spot.

Just a suggestion. This format is easy to follow, makes the league interesting, and avoids ties.

Dirt E Gomez

I've never been a fan of drafting defensive players personally. I've always prefered simple 1 defense slot for team. But I'll do whatever the majority does.

Also, while I've never done it I've wanted to auction draft for a while, rather than traditional snake draft. I'm not sure the logistics of doing an auction league online though.

8 or 10 team league? I like 8 team league because of the quality of players you can get but I wouldn't go anymore than 10 teams.

Here is how I see the league being.
Dirty Gomez
Old Gringo
Sonny
Badblood
PBDS
Sho-Nuff
Raesaad
7001

Though I haven't confirmed Raesaad, Sho-Nuff, PBDS or Badblood, but I am almost sure they are in.

Well so far we have 7001, gomez, gringo and Sonny. The Fix will probably want in as well as pbds and explosivo. There are bound to be a few others . I think make it 10 teams.

7001
06-24-2006, 10:55 AM
10 teams it is.

oldgringo
06-24-2006, 11:27 AM
10 is good. That way you don't just have a star-laden team and you actually have to scout some lesser known guys who have talent.

So the roster is:

gomez
gringo
7001
blood
sonny
pbds
fix
saad
nuff
explosivo

??? Good league it would be competitive (but sad because i'll ****ing destroy all of you girly men). :D

I feel like a 12 man league could be fine too. Then we'd really have a competitive league on our hands. If everyone promises to make an effort to try and doesn't become inactive then we could have something good.

I'd really like to stress that setup outline I suggested. It makes a lot of sense scoring wise and the positions make the draft more fun (having an individual defense is better than a team D)

Having guys like Joey Porter, Ed Reed, Cato June, Ty Law, Mike Peterson, etc...

I'm used to it being the opposite. THe draft is important but with smaller teams it's who makes the right trades and right free agent pick ups to ahve the best team. I'm down no matter what though... just a lil' bit less effort than usual now :P

You can know all the football you want, I'm telling you now, I have played FFL evey year with yahoo and picking D players and O players is a major pain in the ass, and trying to keep up with it all is even worse. But do what ever yall want I'm just trying to save yall from a lot of frustration.

Dirt E Gomez
06-24-2006, 05:09 PM
My problem with picking D has always been that there's usually not as many top tier players to go around. I remember... I think 2-3 years ago Ray Lewis had a ****ing ridiculous year and his points were the most scoring out of offensive and defensive players... and only a few other defensive players were even close to his realm.

I have played fantasy football for many years now, have won leagues multiple times, and play with other guuys who are very good managers.

It's this simple, if you like football, follow it, and know anything about the league then picking defensive players will be NOTHING. Badblood is trying to make it sound like some complex deal for no reason. Listen to el gringo loco here. Individual defense is easy, makes your draft strategy more interesting, and makes it so your D can pick you up in weeks where you get poor offense.

In a team defense situation....there are about 4-5 really good defensive teams (in terms of fantasy football) and the rest are mediocre at best or suck. Maybe they'll put up a couple of nice weeks here and there. With individual defense, there are so many players that EVERYONE stands a chance to have a good week.

For example, if you have the Bills team D and they play the Colts/Steelers/Bengals/Rams/etc you are going to get a bad outcome most likely because those teams put up major points. But if you have the individual D, even if the team gets scored on....a guy like Takeo ****es could get 10 solo tackles and he'd turn in a good week for you. Individual performance is more fun....otherwise you'd just pick gay team offenses too. :D

To sum up, have a nice day.

...IMO the less effort and less complex the better. I'm just not interested enough in Nascar to stick with that whole deal. The NFL is a different story and those pools always keep my interest. Still I don't want to have to think too much about a complicated set up. I may pull a muscle or something.

I said it should be individual players and team d. That's what we did last year. You pick 2 linemen, 2 db's and a team d. It's not like you have to pick an entire 11 man roster.

Out of those 2 I can only watch Nascar and even that's limited to watching only the beginning 50 laps and ending 50 laps and I sleep through the rest.

Points Allowed 35+ points (-4)
Fractional Points: No
Negative Points: Yes

So just to be clear, there are no points per passing yards (I personally like the 25 yards per point passing myself)

Also in a lot of leagues I've played in you can get extra points for long running or receiving td.

Just some food for thought. I don't care as long as I know the exact scoring system before the draft because that makes a big difference in who I select.

oldgringo

are you serious? no points for passing yards? whats the point of having points for any type of yardage then? rb's and receivers shouldn't get shit either...

i say 1 point per 25/50 yards would suffice.

is it enough room for your boy to join...pm me with details if so...

that would make QB's too powerful. it would make a qb that passed for 350 yards and 4 interceptions have a good week, when in fact they had a shit ass week.

if interceptions = (-3) pts, touchdowns = (6pts) and passing yards = (1pt per 10 yds), QB-A that passed for 350 yards, 1 TD and 4 picks (ala brett favre) would still get 29 points. QB-B that passed for 150 yards and 3 TDS who had a really good game would only get 33 points.

it has to be more balanced to suit a good performance. if the same two qbs have those respective games with 25 yds per point, QB-A would only get 8 points, whereas QB-B (who had the much better performance) would get 24 points...and deservingly so.

Exactly. 25/50 yards per point passing is the only way to go. I'd go with 25, that way you reward qb's who pass for a lot of yards but you maintain the integrety of the td.

Well obviously random is the way it's supposed to be... but usually whoever is running it determines beforehand through some random method and then tells people what they're going. It makes the draft usually run much smoother and think of possible trades early on. Without warning as to the place you'll be taking it usually goes slower.

Was all I was pointing out... of course he would do it random.

And Badblood, I concur. It was disgusted that I didn't pick him 5th and then in awe as I watched him drop lower and lower.

17 picks is god awful. It completely destroys the way I usually draft and I didn't even realize it until about the 6th round... this is going to be an interesting year, to say the least.

Your team is bad but it has some promising aspects. You've got enough to win some weeks, make some trades, and with maybe a couple free agent picks you'll be fine.

Also.... how did the computer possibly pick Reggie Bush 1st for you? I thought if you had the computer auto draft for you it picked the highest possible seed for positions you needed filled...

Oh, and dude... if you didn't take into account time difference that's your bad. It was set for 1pm pst and I anticipated it by simply checking to see when the draft started for my time... it's not that hard.

I'm not that happy with my team, but it's hard to draft a great team from the 10th spot.

My other 2 teams in 2nd's league and my sports bar league are both much better.

7 bench players was overkill. 4 would have been better.

There is absolutely nobody left on the wire worth having.

Technincally speaking... if there's 11 billion in the pool and the interest made on that is then 110million a day.... and the football season is 17weeks long, not even using compounded interest that 7001 will make during the period is around 13 billion... I'm pretty sure he can cover the extra billion out of the goodness of his heart... or add that extra 13 billion to the pool for the winners.

I think if that is our course of action it's only right that everybody agrees to simply not take any of the players he drops. With no free agent pool whoever has the high waivers and can snag one of his better players will get a distinct advantage.

My take on it at least.. assuming everybody is grown up enough to agree to not take them.
