definitely! i was sitting in our jeep today while my husband was in the store paying for gas. this decent looking guy was walking into the store with a woman. he looked a way from her and kept looking at me then gave me a wink before going into the store. clearly he couldn't see my belly, but it felt good to be this far along and still get a wink. lol! :D

Hi!

Seriously, how can a hospital turn down a volunteer????

I called up this woman, she asked if im a student, i said i was last year, im looking for a job at the moment and ive got some spare time etc, she asked wat type of job i was lookin for, i said anything, she said they only want volunteers that are looking for specific careers that the volunteer work would be suited for.
Or somthing like that.

So im still sat on my arse, whilst the hospital struggles to cope .

I bet Jesus didnt have this problem.

it's amazing really...
people who i don;t know, just stop to talk to me and some actually touch my belly!!

But even worse then that is having strangers stroke my newborns face and lips and hands with their dirty who-knows-where-they've-been-hands. of course, this is a female thing but when my first son was a newborn, old ladies constantly felt entitled to stop me in a store and touch his hands and face. yuck! it was like that show Monk, the wipes immediately came out theminute they left. yeah, i know, i am anal. lol! :o

I understand how you feel, even though I dont have kids lol. It's an invasion of privacy and could harm your baby because, as you say, they are putting their dirty hands in the babies face etc.

Something should be done to stop it. A petition against old ladies lol.

Was so pissed yesterday. It was my boy's b-day and he had a private party at some club in Brooklyn, well, I usually dont do Brooklyn but since it was his b-day and such I went. Only to meet like half of the people from my former HS and bunch of people from my college.(World is a village as they say) But what pissed me off the most is that every time I went to a bathroom, some dumb kid(it was a different person every time) would ask me lend him a key for e few seconds(I hope I dont need to explain to you what it means). ANd guys were hanging out at girls bathroom and vice versa. From first glance I tought that they were just having a go, but then when I realised that bathroom has ran out of tissues, it got all clear to me. Ughhh, I hate brooklyn crowd and their perception of whats cool. At least if they actually ****ed it would have been better.

it's been an adjustment. i think he is torn. he always asks what the baby is doing or where he is and he asks to watch me feed him or bath him or whatever, but i can tell that he is a bit more needy and whiney lately. i know it will all smooth out in time. he just has to adjust and realize that this is not a temporary thing.

It's a man thing. Who wants to snuggle when you could be having sex? Who wants to be hungry when you could be eating? Who wants to be tired when you could be sleeping? Who wants to be bored when you could be making money or having fun?

snow is just around the corner in my neck of the woods and i am not looking forward to it! :(

I also hope to stop by more often and thanks for saying as such.

And yeah, the snow & cold weather kinda puts a damper on things for me, as I have my own business to run (we do finishing work on the exterior of houses...siding, window trim, gutters, etc., etc.) and I haven't been able to get my crews out to work since last Thursday. We're also backed up a little in our scheduling (the case even before the snow came), as well, so this snow & weather came at a horrible time.

But on the bright side of things, we've had a really good & busy year with no sign of things slowing down in the near or even far future, so I can count my blessings as far as that goes. Another bright side of this is at least I'm not still living up in Northern Manitoba or elsewhere on the prairies where this stuff is almost the norm for half the year...33 years out there was more than enough for me, and with my residing in B.C. over the last seven years, I think I've been a little bit spoiled as far as winters go (last year and the few years previous we barely had any snow, and almost never dropped below zero degrees celcius).

*sigh*

I guess it's a great day to lounge in front of the fireplace with a book and do nothing all day.

Luckily, where I am, the weather is holding up very nicely for this time of year. Even a jacket is optional and it's almost December. But I know that soon we are going to be getting the crappy weather and I'm one who really doesn't like winter. Haven't had any use for it since I outgrew snowmen and throwing snowballs at people.

K-DOGG

First of all, welcome to the lounge; nos casa es su casa. :) And of course, feel free to share any thoughts you have regarding any topic you wish. It's a pleasure to have you here my friend.

Secondly, sorry to hear about the business slow-down. If you do siding work and such, snow will definetly put a damper on things. Hate to hear that. Fortunately where I live it doesn't snow very often anyway and with global warming inching higher and higher up the world thermometer, our winters are becoming milder and milder. It's close to 65 F at the moment, though threatening rain.

Driving in snow is indeed treacherous; but I prefer it to driving in ice. Either way, I'm ususally far more concerned about some of the yahoos that are on the road with me more than myself. Either way, I hope the weather clears up for you soon.

Maybe.

Hey, has anybody ever told you that you were too kind, that's if such a thing as "too kind" even exists?

And in regards to your "nos casa es su casa" comment, I must say that my Spanish is very weak, although I 'think' the word "home" is somewhere in there.

Hey K-Dogg, is that a photo of you in your av?

If so, you & I share the same look with the shaved head & goatee (I've had that same look for 14 or 15 years now), although, of course, I'm the much, much better looking of us two.

No doubt. Yeah, that's me. My wife took that picture before we went on vacation to Chattanooga a couple of years ago; kind of surprised me. However I ended up using it as my jock-photo for our radio-station's website and decided to use it in my avatar when Buddychacon suggested all of us doing it a few weeks back. I figured people might as well know who's talking to them, kind of like on the radio....give a face to go with the words and all, ya know.

I guess I started shaving it all off about five or six years ago. It seems to fit me....and I ain't got much choice in hair-cuts these days. lol!!!

I started receeding at a young age (19 or 20) and it didn't get too far back before I said "**** it" and shaved it all off...Problem solved!

And yeah, it seems to fit me too, and I don't even want to imagine what I'd look like if I hadn't started shaving it (*cringes*). But realistically speaking, I did notice and can still recall that I got quite a bit more attention from the ladies once I took the bic to my head.

You need to have a childish streak in you to survive, it makes life fun. (That's my excuse anyway, I'm 15 and get told to stop being childish :nonono: )

That's weird. My hair was thick as wool in High School; but as soon as I graduated I went to get a haircut to start a summer job at a plant and the barber, who I'd always gone to, said something about my hair thinning. Over the next four years, it was a losing battle; but eventually just shaved it down to about a 1/4 of an inch, then 1/8th of an inch, and finally, like you, said "**** It". And yup, the female attention increased almost immediately.

Wow, I am shocked...I really am, and only because your posts have such a high quality to them. Not too many 15 year-olds have even a sniff of the boxing knowledge that you have, nevermind equal it, so I have to give you HUGE props for what you bring to the forum, my friend.

I'm impressed!

But yeah, I think we all have to retain some semblance of our childhood into our adult lives, and it's funny how it took my six year-old son to make me fully realize that. Before he came along I was a fairly serious person and whatnot, but once he was born and later started getting around & talking, I seemed to have went through a big change in my personality...Much less serious person nowadays, and I've even reverted back to some interests of mine that I had in my younger days (FR-like novels, video & computer games, etc.)

And no, I'm not ready for Christmas, at all, and probaly won't be until I leave the store late on Christmas Eve with the last gifts that I buy for the season. My wife is basically ready for Christmas, though, as she has already finished the vast majority of her shopping and even has the tree up & house decorated already.

But honestly...

my brother in law had a slightly receeding hairline so he shaves his head like a cue ball. he has a very round head so he doesn;t look good. i think if he at least had a crew cut (military style) it sould look 100x better.

LOL!!!! I honestly wouldn't say "gradual" becuase scalp was showing by the time I was 21. Let's just say I was in denial until I was about 24. :D

I had a horrible time getting dates in college because the girls I approached thought I was "too old" for them. :lol1: Oh the stories I could tell...

It's a good thing I've got a sense of humor. I developed a tough skin pretty quick. My brother-in law...sister's husband.....was the one who suggested I shave it all off; and I had my reservations about it....didn't want to "give up" the fight, you know. ;) "Naw man, you'll look like Stone Cold Steve Austin or Goldberg".

So, finally, I just said "What the hell?! Take it OFF"....and the rest, is history, so to speak. It took me a while to get used to it; but you save money on shampoo and haircuts. lol!!!

I had a poney-tail right before I graduated; my old man couldn't stand it. One day we were out on the back porch and he said something like, "Is that a flying squirell?" So I looked to where he was pointing and heard, SNIP!!

There are very few moments in my life when I've been "speechless"....this was one of them. I couldn't utter a syllable; I sounded like Bill Cosby describing how you filter yourself when your child makes you angry.

Yeah, if ever a moment was to leave one speechless, that definately would be it. Mind you, that's probably the very best & healthiest reaction to something like that because all of the other options on how to handle that requires somebody (whether it be me or my brother) feeling some type of physical pain.

Oh, my dad would've have kicked my ass too, and thankfully for me I never gave him a reason to outright prove such a statement correct. As opposed to me only taking up boxing, he took up both boxing and wrestling (especially), and routinely chucked me around like I was nothing during those numerous play fights/wrestling matches that we had, even when I was a couple years into being a teenager...

Shit, I can still remember when I was about 16 or 17 and thinking that "Ok, I can take the old man down now". So with that in mind here's me, the brightie that I was, sneaking up behind him while he sat in his chair, and then proceeding to jump on his back/shoulder when he least expected...Umm, no, that advantage that I thought I had wasn't so, and yes, that was me pinned on the floor not even a quick second later.

Can't say Dad and I ever wrestled or had any rough-housing...the "bonding stuff". Dad was significantly older than whatever the average age was for dads, I guess. He was a very serious-minded individual, though he did have a good sense of humor. He grew up on a farm, drove a logging truck, planted, pulled, and hung tobacco, dug fence posts, helped build houses, etc......and was in a band in his youth. From what I understand, he was quite an accomplished guitarist when he was younger; but since the dream of a recording contract never played out, he devoted his focus to starting a family, etc. and educated himself by reading all sorts of law books, while growing into prominence in the local union after doing plant work for about ten years.

He put a lot of insistance on me getting a good education and such growing up and was more or less against me getting involved in sports. He was just a very strong personality; but wasn't a "hard man", persay....just someone you didn't really want to cross. lol!! He used to have me drive him around the "country" where he grew up so he could take pictures of old delapodated barns and shacks.....pointing out that if I didn't quit goofing around in school and make good grades I'd be living in one of those shacks and digging ditches.

I had quite a mouth on me in my youth and he and I butted heads quite often during my teen years. The only time he ever struck me in the face, I honestly had it coming. I'd said something smart-ass and before I knew it he'd popped my jaws with an open hand a couple of times....to which I stared him right in the eye and sneered, "Is that all you got?". He walked away with a clinched fist. He could have probably knocked me cold; but that wasn't his way. I truly was an ass as a youth; had a lot of anger in me.

I'm not trying to make hiim sound like a bad guy because he really wasn't....far from it. He just set the bar really high and expected me to do the best I could do and didn't want me to fail. After he died I found out he was really proud of me for accomplishing what I did scholastically. He told me so from time to time while I was in school; but didn't want me to get "the big head" and slack off.....I guess.

While I was earning my second associates, I had decided I wasn't going to go to the graduation ceremony because I'd already done it once at that school and didn't put too much stock in it. I told Dad that when I earned my bachelors I'd go through the line again and then he could see me accepting a "real degree". Turns out I graduated Cum Laudi with my second degree. He told me I did after opeing my certificate from CSCC and I said, "Cum Laudi? What's that? He said, "It means 'with honors'." I kind of laughed and said, "I guess all those pool games and card games paid off then, huh." To which, he looked over at my mom and said, "Well, I guess the boy does know everything; but what he doesn't, I do." (Dad was always saying "You think you know everything.") :)

Anyway, to conclude this story that has now gone on longer than I originally intended, Dad passed away a year before I graduated with my BS in broadcast journalism.

I tend to agree with Yogi on how well you're going to do down the road if you have a mind to follow that career path. Be forwarned, though....journalism doesn't pay anything in the beginning. You really have to be something speical and get the right breaks to make the big bucks. I'm not trying to deter you, just trying to give you fair warning of what you're getting yourself into.

I think about him quite often these days.

Well shoot, if your e-personality is an accurate representation of you in the real world, then I'd say that Mr. Kincade did one mighty fine job in raising his son to be the best he could be, as well as being a very strong & worthy role model all through that raising.

It sucks to say this in a way, but today's generation of teenagers/youth generally don't have parents who are as strict or even as guided as our's were growing up.

But...don't you feel extremely lucky to have that man as your father and chief role model?

I don't want to go into great details about my dad, but I think we were both extremely lucky to have had those men raise us as their sons. So many insights, life lessons, and whatever else passed down to us through them, and man, I am so, so thankful at times for the man that my father is today and was when I was growing up...That's my only real hero right there, and he always will be my only hero. In fact every time I notice something of my dad's in me (mainly personality wise, but also in looks and such), I do admit that a smile comes to my face...and it's a smile of pride and nothing else.

Love to hear that you think about your dad so much these days, by the way.

No problem K-DOGG. Just stating the truth really.

I'm getting all flushed now :o

I was thinking about taking a dive into journalism later in life, but backing it up with qualifications earned now. Maybe I'll post up some articles I have wrote in the past about sports and life. If you're lucky that is :D

Post away, my friend...Post way.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing some of your previous articles that you've written, provided I'm lucky enough, of course.

I am extremely lucky to have had him as my role model; but....and there's always a but ;).....he and I were just starting to become close when he died, and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that that pains me some even to this day.

He set the bar extremely high; and while I thank you for your kind words in regards to myself, I often wonder what he would say about how my life is going, what adivice he would offer, etc. Silly as it may sound, his shadow was indeed, and is still a tall one.....and because he's no longer here, I have no accuarte barometer, I guess. At least that's how I feel when I allow myself to think about it.

I honestly can say I respect him more than any man I have ever known; and if I can be half the man that he was, I'll have done alright by my estimation.

In regards to today's parents vs ours, I'll admit you are correct; at least I agree with you. Not to disresepect all of today's parents on one fell swoop, for I know there are good ones out there; but I have seen too many lax ones who's kids don't respect them....or anyone else, for that matter. There were, to be sure, bad parents when we were growing up; but I think the key is in where people's motivations lie these days, in the sense of priorities vs those of days gone by. It's all about perspective, really.

Are you still in the same position you were a few months ago, Kevin, in regards to downloading stuff onto the computer you're using?

If things have changed, let me know and I'll upload that song for you...It's both funny as hell and quite catchy, so I'm sure you'd get a huge kick out of it if/when you hear it.

I don't think Smokin or Bloodshed like wrestling so the name Mr.Perfect throws me off . Mr.Perfect would go with Exig's little gimmick that he has going and Blitz was a big fan of wrestling but this person doesn't post like they do. he tends to talk like a little adult. When he does something "bad" and one of us reprimands him for it, the uses some of the exact phrases that he has heard us say to justify why he did it or to bargain or to get out of trouble. it is just so funny to see a toddler (3 year-old) to say certain adult-like things and really mean it. it just makes me laugh. it's hard for me to get mad at him. lol!

To do a degree then a phd in the UK takes 6-8 years. I couldn't hack any more than the 4 I'm up to now! I couldn't be 29 and be starting my first job, even though a phd is closer to work than a taught course is over here.
