My thought is that if it sounds good I like it. I have been listening to this band called Demon Hunter for a few weeks now. From their name and the sound of the music I would have figured them for satanists but I was trying to find some lyrics today and I kept getting these religious rock websites that had info on this band. Turns out it is hardcore christian metal. So I actually consentrated on the lyrics of some of the songs and there are lines that could be classified as religious. They aren't all like "god is great" and **** but I guess I could compare them to POD in terms of how much religious content is in their lyrics, although I can understand most of the words in a POD song unlike Demon Hunter which is mostly the yelling anyone would expect from metal like that.

I HATE Christian music, as a whole. I mean, rock and roll is supposed to be about rebellion. God has no place in rock music. Why do you think people flash the "devil's salute" at rock shows? Cause Satan was the ultimate rebel, and God, the Bible and church are everything that is anti-rock and roll.

If God was the patron of rock and roll, every album would sound like a Peter, Paul and Mary album. **** that ****.

i don't really like most christian music because it always sounds so soft. but, being a christian myself, i definetely dig the lyrics.

i find your arguement on rock and roll a crock of **** squezze. you say that rock n' roll is for the rebellious only. look at our culture nowadays. we're no longer allowed to mention God in our pledge of allegiance and public schools took down the 10 commandments a long time ago.

in other words, true and sincere belief in God is in itself one of the most rebellious acts in today's society and culture. especially when you're not afraid to say your belief. ESPECIALLY when it's so rejected in the music industry.

these guys available on kazaa hockey?

You misunderstood me. I didn't say it was for the rebellious only, I said it was about rebellion. Believing in God is about the most non-rebellious act you can do. 95% of people in North America are brought up, at birth, in a Christian home, weather or not they're practicing their faith or not. North America's laws and regulations are based on the Bible's teachings, basically. Preaching to people in rock music about God and Christianity is about the most inane thing one can do, cause it's not like people arn't aware of the religion. If you're gonna preach about something, preach about something people don't know about, in rock music that is. Going back a little, Christian beliefs and laws are the basis of our society, the status quo, and what do people rebel against? The status quo.

Kids don't wanna hear songs about Jesus and John the Baptist written by church boys. Kids wanna hear pissed off songs about kicking ass and angst, written by people who live it. The prosecution rests.

the prosecution rests? well that sux cause the defense has just begun.

1st of all, if it's about rebellion....then it's catored to the rebellious. that's pretty obvious. it's also pretty obvious that EVERYBODY has some degree of rebelliousness within them. this is why we're pretty tolerable.

you're saying that it's inane for christians to preach our belief through rock and roll? well if you look even deeper about what the root of rock and roll music is, and not just a minor rebellious aspect that it contains, you will notice that all good rock and roll music has one thing in common:
it has well formulated beliefs & expressions dished out through ass kicking beats, licks, rythms, and bass lines.

with that in mind, christian rock is doing just fine as long as it sounds good to the fans.

to say that it is defying rebellion by defying what this supposed "rebellion" was set up to be is just ass backwards. just because you were brought up to view christianity in your own perception- be it true or false- doesn't give you the right to say that we shouldn't give our own views..........which would be freedom of expression wouldn't it? freedom of speech---something that rock and roll gives a lot more of a **** about then just the sheer act of rebellion.

all you're saying is that you're close minded do to beliefs & trends that you're not accustomed to- THAT attitude has been the very enemy of rock n' roll ever since the days of elvis prestly.

 i dont think there is anything wrong with christian metal or christian punk. i feel that rock n roll is all about relating to ur music. it its not always what they are saying, sometimes u hear something else and relate to it in your own way. music is art. so why should it be a problem for them to put there beliefs into the art they like? ITS NOT!!!!

I suggest you listen to Power metal bands. They sing about slaying evil and gloriously conquering the wicked. My suggestions

Hammerfall and Blind Guardian. I caught some Iced Earth and they sounded pretty good as well.

Yeah Demon Hunter is on Kazaa. Who isn't? They don't have an album out yet and most of the sngs don't even have title. Just a track number.

If you are a Christian- the words to the songs should mean something to you. I personally like Christian music. Funny thing is- lots of people listen to POD and have no clue they are a Christian band. Their song "Alive" for example...all over the radio.... listen to the words. Its about Christ.

I like a few Christian bands and some singers who have moved onto mainstream labels. I don't mind some Amy Grand, Stacy Orrico, and I like some stuff by Jars of Clay, POD, Michelle Branch...

I wonder if any rap fans on this board have heard KJ-52?

Iced Earth isn't power metal, but they kick some serious ****ing ass.

Their lyrics are interesting, to say the least.

Christ it's nothing personal
You've got to see
They twist and turn your words
For their own needs
They're brainwashed puppets
The almighty crutch
Cowards of reality
And their dying love

Living life in total lies
Judging others
Believe that I say or burn in hell
Bow down your head
You won't feel so bad
Do as I say or burn in hell

I can't figure out what they're trying to say. I think they're attacking the modern day Christians in their hypocracy, but nothing more.

Real punk doesn't exist anymore. It's not like punk hasn't always sucked, but it sucks even more now.
