PessimisticPug 06-18-2006, 11:04 AM good job kid! You kept pressing the fight and kept your hands moving way to go man.
Just a little tip here, against the south paws dont rely on your jab. Come in hard with straight rights and hooks while rolling to your left.
Its all a learning experience man. And you said that your not the best, hey nobody is their first time out or even their 20th time out. Its all a learning and growing experience and your on your way to being good if thats what you want.
Congratulations kid, youve made the boxing scene proud.
Rockin' :boxing:

Ukr_Alex 06-18-2006, 12:26 PM Why you throwing windmill punches?
I give you props because you are there and learning and fighting and thats cool, but I see a lot of unnecesary stuff.
What you have to do is slow time down, hold your punches back and throw them with authority.
Make the other guy look stupid, slip his punches and move around, then you see an opening and come bang him up.
Stick your jab out, make him eat it. Side step, side step, throw him off balance.
you charge too much, you gotta slow down and see the fight.
Keep going at it though ;)

Snap your jabs and keep that damn chin tucked in. Try working the body as well. It was a good watch though. I don't get to see amatures that much. Good job on the win and hope to see more.

hotbox2316 06-18-2006, 01:12 PM good job man youve done what most people on this site talk about but never do, it takes nuts to step in that squared circle keep up the good work!
Southpaw Stinger 06-18-2006, 01:49 PM Your reach was givin the guy some problems. Nice to see that little ref again anyhow!
Have you got any new fights coming up man?

excellent. how long have you trained ? and after how many months did they say you can become an amateur and fite?
u have alot of potential. well done dude. :D
LOLORSKATES 06-18-2006, 04:35 PM It only was the first fight, but I hardly saw you on your angle and every single time you came to your opponent you went straight at him not at an angle or anything. An experienced pugilist would have a clinic off someone like that by just cracking you with their strong hand, because they hardly have to reach across their body to hit you with it or just move and fire off combos..other then that pretty good dude..I ain't tryin to give you a rough time or anything, but like what rockin said hooks and rights are what tames a southpaw..next time you fight or spar a southpaw try a right hand, left hook, right hand combo and see how it works..

Go for it Colin!

not bad.. u did seem nervous by the body laguage in the bigging... tuck your chin in when you throw. watch a bhop fight.. hes excellent at punching w/o getting countered.. not bad.. u gotta just sit on your punches and use ur bodyweight.. keep it up bro
Ukr_Alex 06-18-2006, 08:05 PM do u box? in your first amature fight u forget everything tht has been told to you and just go for it. windmills  ok then........
well **** off then kid, if you wanted praise then sorry...
giving you advice, take it like a man dickweed.
Zigga 06-18-2006, 08:27 PM I like it man lol, it reminds me of my first fight, its true things seem to go out thw window and u end up fighting on instinct instead of using ya head, rokin gave u some good advise against a south paws, also sothpaws will try and draw u to lead with ur jab so he can move or slip to the right and counter with a right hook from outside of ur line of attack, so try and force him to lead but keep moving, circle away from his power hand(usually his left) and draw him onto the right hand counter to the body or head and then left hook over his south paw lead. If he is a counter puncher focus on having the last shot in an exchange and break him up by changing tempo and sustained pressure to unsettle him. Keep fighting and u will be doing and seeing things that u are blind to at the moment. Post more fights man keep it the hard work
LOLORSKATES 06-18-2006, 09:37 PM So what class are you in anyway? Yeah watch out with your chin, if you didn't keep him busy with all the times you were throwing punches he could've landed a shot that could've rocked you if you were caught flush.

Telling a kid to hold his punches back is the worst thing to tell a new boxer fighting for the first or second time.
What experience do you actually have?
Rockin' :boxing:
yrrej 06-18-2006, 10:20 PM You'll be OK. You need to keep your chin down.....

well when i boxed on tht video i was 50kg hahaha i look alot heavier i know , i left college not long after it and got a job as an engineer so im up to 53kg which is still light for the size of me huh. this aint an excuse for my chin going up cos thts just a bad habbit but i could of took tht guys punches all day lol maybe if i was his size they would of hurt more and i aint gonna not protect myself cos of tht cos i know if i get one bang on the chin i would probly get rocked or even go down. i love my height advantage it kinda gives me a bit of a boost when i see the boy is smaller than me lol

yeah tht takes alot out of you before the fight when ur so nervous but its a great feeling when its all over and what i love about it is you go over and shake hands with the boy and his trainers , theres no hard feeling huh
