View Full Version : Young Toney and Roy Jones workout? Da Iceman 06-17-2006, 07:08 PM anybody know a young james toney and roy jones workout, and toneys workout right now? maxorido 06-17-2006, 08:46 PM well i have a dvd called "heart of a champion". it gives you an in depth look at roy jones' training camp before the taver 2 fight, his body looked great, although he got ko'd lol. i can upload it sometime for you. as far as i know toney mainly spars, and sometimes hits the bags but i was watching some program on hbo where freddy roach said all toney likes to do in training is spar. PessimisticPug 06-17-2006, 09:16 PM Back when James was middleweight champ he was always sparring. Lots and lots of sparring. He worked the bag alot back then too. I dont know what he does now, probably runs to burgerking, get 3 or 4 extra value meals and runs back home. Rockin' :boxing: so you can get fit like he was at middle and supermiddleweight by sparring? PessimisticPug 06-17-2006, 10:20 PM so you can get fit like he was at middle and supermiddleweight by sparring? It takes time but yes. If you want to get in shape to fight then you must fight in the gym. Running helps abit but fighters arent trying to win a foot race. Lots of sparring and bag work was his thing back then. Rockin' :boxing: Da Iceman 06-17-2006, 10:21 PM his thing now is big mac leg press and eating fries. PessimisticPug 06-17-2006, 10:24 PM Ya know I fought on the same amatuer team as James and then joined Galaxy after he won the middleweight tile. James was a gym rat, always there and always working. He had a great work ethic back then. Its just that after he won the title he would balloon up after fights and come in having to drop 50 or 60 lbs. It was crazy. Very talented fighter though. I do however believe that his best days are now long behind him. I too would be extremely interested in this. jason100x 06-18-2006, 12:34 PM I have the DVD, Heart of a champion, it's really good. The parts where he works with Mackie Shilstone are worth the price alone. Then there is a section with Mackie showing his training routine like on any workout video but its a good program. dino 06-18-2006, 05:45 PM james toney dosent do road work..neither does felix trinidad |
