Smokin' 06-12-2006, 11:34 PM Basically, the best all-round lyricist which includes cleverness, wit, poetry, getting his/her point across, able to switch up the topics, etc etc...you should know what I mean. neils7147933 06-13-2006, 05:58 AM I wouldn't put him as my rep in a battle, but my favorite lyricist based on that criteria is Tupac. I think Biggie was a little more creative and clever based on wordplay, but Pac's energy and emotion, ability to go from social issues to thug and back, and way to make you feel a song was unmatched. I actually rank Eminem at the top of current rappers on that criteria too, though Em's freestyle ability exceeds Shakur's. Behind Eminem I would include Jay-Z, who would be penalized for not taking any "heavy" topics though having maybe the best flow out there now - he's not a commanding presence but just looking at his lyrics side-by-side other rappers, you can see his superiority. mgkirkpatrick 06-13-2006, 11:40 AM em's wordplay is phenomenal platinummatt 06-13-2006, 12:29 PM I like snoops lyrics in early days RAESAAD 06-13-2006, 12:31 PM Tupac is my favorite for many reasons but Nas is probably the best lyricist IMO.
