View Full Version : Question for you guys and girls
Tha Playa 11-18-2002, 03:23 PM I work in an accounting office and I'm 24 years old. As of now, and since the last 3 years, I've always had a goatee and mustache. I have a beard trimmer and keep it trimmed very close. My question, in the business world at my age, is it time I went with the completly shaven look? Everyone I see in the corporate world has the shaven face look and it sometimes makes me feel like they look at me as some young and dumb office assitant or something. Just some food for thought. Opinions would be appreciated even though this is a boring topic.
Honestly I do not believe there is any particular look for Corporate America. I have seen men in their 40's wearing the same thing
Aaron Bizarre 11-18-2002, 03:26 PM I have had a goatee since I was 16 (22 now). I keep it in the office and I dont feel like they look at me liek some dumb kid. I do see what you mean. every guy has the clean shave but me and some other mid 20 kid. Im willing to deal, even Shannon Logan said I had a baby face and that was with the Goatee! its time for the Sam Elliot Mustache.
Allison 11-18-2002, 03:27 PM I wouldnt think its unprofessional.
Tammy 11-18-2002, 03:28 PM If you keep it neat, it should be okay. Why blend in right? But if it will make you appear more professional (and I don't see how it would be different), shave it.
Tha Playa 11-18-2002, 03:29 PM Yeah, my pet peeve about my outward appearance is that I have kind of a long distance between the bottom of nose and my upper lip. Without a mustache, I think it looks kinda funny. The goatee really doesn't matter, but having a mustache without a goatee is for rednecks and ****stars.
Tammy 11-18-2002, 03:30 PM Post a pic!

I do keep it neat and nobody has ever mentioned it to me, except my mom who thinks I would look better without it. But at my office, we constantly deal with clients in the 30-70 range, with mos of those in their 50's or 60's. Basically, just thinking outloud trying to get other people's opinions. Thanks for the replies.
Tammy 11-18-2002, 03:32 PM Don't worry about it, moms always want their boys to be clean-shaven.

where are you with the goatee?
Tha Playa 11-18-2002, 03:43 PM See, I trim it so close, you can hardly see it. Look really close.
I do not think that counts as a goatee
it might be too close, I can't see it, it looks more like a 5o'clock shadow prime
