I think the Baer brothers, The Klitchko brothers are tough but I'd say that Baers had more punching power and better training.
Max Baer killed a guy in the ring.

you'd think with a PHD you wouldn't have to go into boxing...

What about their body types? they are both tall... the Baer brothers aren't overly muscular thus they are inferior to the klitschko's? Max Baer was extremely talented and i'd probably give him the nod over Wlad, and im not sure about Vitali.

Max Baer KO's Wlad early.
Wlad Ko's Buddy Baer
Vitali KO's Buddy Baer.
Max Baer knocks Vitali down for the first time, but loses a decision.

Therefore Klits win overall.

i don't see how athletes of that early era can compete with today's athlete. Today, there are more effective work-out strategies and dieting as well as athletes are stronger today than ever before in history.

The Baer brothers easily. Combined they have a big chin and stamina advantage over the Klits, and both could hit like hell, especially Max.

Buddy is the weak link here but Max's powerful attack, that could be sustained into the later rounds as he proved vs. Schmeling, and durability puts him head and shoulders above both Klitschsko's, as much as I like them. Buddy himself was a dangerous puncher and naturally bigger in frame than either Klitscko. His 250 pound lean body came naturally, without any weight training. Vitali only weighed 220 himself before bulking up.

Max Baer is just a different breed of fighter than the two Ukrainians. Physically, he reminds me of Foreman, although with less skill and arguably a better chin. Technically, Wlad and Vitali are both more adept boxers than Max, but Baer (and we're talking about a prime Baer, in great shape and at his meanest) has the better physical and psychological makeup for boxing. He really was ridiculously tough, strong, and at one point in his career, brave. The kind of guy who could and would wade right through hard counters to land his own haymakers. I don't see either Klit being able to deal with that kind of opponent.

Max and Buddy win this, largely on the merits of Maxie's natural gifts.

Actually, I think Buddy hits harder than Max.

That's your opinion, and your entitled to it, but I'll go with the guy who had many opponents (including Braddock who fought Louis) coming out of fights admitting Max hit harder than anyone they ever encountered. Buddy hit hard but Max was on the Foreman level with the weight he put behind his punches.

vitali wins a dec. over max, and a lopsided one at that.
wlad knocks buddy out easily.
max might get lucky and knock wlad down, but wlad gets up and keeps him off or leans on him when he tries to get inside. wlad eventually wears him down and tears his face apart with that one two until max gets dropped as well, and then cruises to a dec.
vitali knocks buddy out easily.

i dont see much competition here.

klitoris brothers are far better athletes than the baer brothers.

The only reason I picked Max over Wlad is because of his power. He would KO Wlad, early. However, the Baer brothers, in my opinion, simply weren't skilled enough to beat Vitali. Vitali nuthuggers think he beats Ali, but some people give him no credit at all. He would beat Max, and Buddy, rather easily in my eyes.

Well, then explain to me how Max Baer couldn't hurt a young green Joe Louis, while Buddy Baer knocked a prime Louis out of the ring with one punch.

What the hell does tha have to do with anything? Explain how Bert Cooper almost had Holyfield knocked out while Tyson couldn't hurt him once in two fights. Explain how a 185ish Henry Cooper almost stopped Ali when Foreman couldn't put a dent in his chin. Explain to me how Hasim Rahman knocked Lennox Lewis out with one punch in 5 rounds when David Tua never had him significantly hurt in 12.

You can't just compare the results of two fights to decide who was better or harder hitting or whatever. Also for your information, Baer went into the Louis fight with an injured right hand. That was not a prime, 100% fit Max Baer.
